New to rooting Samsung phones... so help? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey Just rooted my note 2, first samsung android device I've owned... I've rooted my g1, g2, sensatioin 4g, and nexus 7, so I was wondering if there was something I shouldknow before installing custom roms on the note 2. Like on those phones we never had to worry about modems or any of that stuff. And also I know on other samsung phones people would lose efs data.... is that a problem with the note 2... I'm thinking of installing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987634 just any heads up would be appreciated

If your note model T889 , just follow OP install instruction . If T889V ( Canada model ) flash T889V modem after flash rom.

[Q] Custom ROMs the solution?

I sucessfully rooted and installed Chainfire3D, but installing the drivers to play the Tegra 3 games caused me to get stuck on Samsung Logo on boot. The awesome person that I am I didn't do a backup .
So I installed a N7100 Custom ROM with CWM and it boots. As you'd suspect the radio doesn't work so I get no signal. On my LG Optimus 3D I could flash the baseband to make the radio work. Is there any process like that for the SGNII?
I'm a little skeptical to use Odin3 to revert to stock ATT even though I have Rogers Note II. Not sure if I'll lose root and access to CWM and brick it fully.
Is my only solution to wait for a Custom ROM for ATT? Sprint and T-Mobile versions already have Custom ROMs. Any DEVs working on ROM for ATT?
I share the same problem with you Hopefully someone put a stock rom so we can flash it and forget about this problem!
Fingers crossed!

As the phone officially is released tomorrow I am sure it will pop up custom ROM. But that you managed to flash international on your Rogers phone. Is that the exact same phone as ATT is going to be? If so that is amazing news!! That was my only concern about the ATT note as I was disappointed in the dev for ATT galaxy S 3 compared to the international.
Brave man. Shame you missed to take the backup first though. Good luck!

No choice, soft bricked thanks to Chainfire3D. The international ROMs work but no signal or IMEI. The models are different from the international version and the ATT version. If I'm not mistaken the radios are different and run on different bands for LTE.

Yes. The radios are different and needs to be repacked for sure or just have the ROM without radio.Fairly common to. IMEI however is an issue...

Had similar issue with LG optimus 3D ... flashing proper ROM restored IMEI and Radio

after flashed a N7100 Rom to my I317M, I got unknown baseband and IMEI

I got my galaxy note ii from Canada Rogers network just yesterday. In order to add more language option, I falshed a N7100 ROM to my I317M. After that I got no signal on the phone, and I check into the 'about device' option, I see unknown baseband, IMEI, network and so on. I had backup the efs file, but when I trying to flash back to my phone, just nothing happen.
I did research on that, find out that to flash a stock ROM maybe have a chance to fix the problem. however, I can not find a Rogers stock ROM anywhere, so I am writing to ask if someone can help me about to fix the phone. Thanks very much.
I hope you regret using Roms which are not for your specific model.
Ok, with that aside. I have no idea where to get Rogers Roms, but I just checked that i317m is AT&T version of Note2, perhaps you'll have more luck in that section?

Dude you seriously need to read up on things before going ahead and flashing stuff with all the wrong settings.
Ask in the AT&T forums.

[Q] Flash Galaxy Note 2 from China with firmware from my country.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and to the wonderful world of rooting, custom roms and such so bare with me if I ask something stupid.Okay well the title basically says it all, I have 2 Samsung Galaxy note II phones which my dad bought from china. When we turned then on the OS was completely in Chinese so without even thinking about it I downloaded the official firmware for our region and started flashing it onto 1 of the phones just like I did when we received a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. But now something was different, Odin claims that the flashing failed. So I did a little further googling a found out that the Chinese note II had a custom bootloader preventing me from installing firmware from a different region (link to source below). I really don't know what to do further from this point I restored to the Chinese firmware just so that the phone would still work, but it suck not having gmail and that kind of thing so if anybody know of a way to bypass this custom boot loader or some other solution I could try it would really be appreciated!

[Q] att note 3 on. tmobile

I have read a bit and can't find a definite answer. I am going to pick up a att note 3 tomorrow that's been unlocked. Guy says he uses it on tmobile fine but my question is in terms of installing custom ROMs, how should I go about installing a tmobile version? I have read where people get better reception using tmobile ROMs but am uncertain about how and what to do. I know how to flash etc but also never messed with att phones on tmobile.
Do you guys that are running an att version do any extra steps or? Do you flash Tmobile radios?
Any help is appreciated.

It's too bad that you got the AT&T model phone instead of the Tmobile.
You will not be able to have the wifi calling feature (perhaps you don't need it)
Also the AT&T Note 3 requires "safestrap" before you can flash custom recovery,
roms, kernels or anything else which requires custom recovery (TWRP/CWM).
Here is a link which explains Safestrap and instructions on how to install it on
the AT&T note 3 phones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572978
Good luck!

Thanks for the information.

Which step do i do first? Install T-mobile Stock ROM.

Hi AlI, hope I posted this question in the correct area. I am new to the whole flashing /rooting . I've watched several videos and read tutorials but I'm confused about the order of how to go about doing what I want to do. ..??
I purchased an Unlocked AT&T Galaxy 4 mini from eBay.
I want to flash it to a stock T-Mobile ROM -Kit Kat 4.4.2.
Do I need to root the phone first before attempting to flash it?
Or can I do the Flash T-Mobile ROM without rooting.
I don't want to turn my phone into a brick!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Excited to learn how to start doing this, thanks again, Dan.
This forum is for the T-Mobile s4, not the s4 mini.
You cannot cross-flash stock ROMs from one Samsung phone to another Samsung phone using Odin; however, you may be able to flash ports from other Samsung phones using a custom recovery.
