Hi guys, I have a fairly annoying issue at hand here.
I am a (semi) proud owner of the Koodo S2X, which was a huge upgrade from my LG Optimus One. The phone is great, but lately there have been alot of freezing issues where the phone would become unresponsive for a few minutes, except for the lock button, which would not actually lock the screen. But, and this is the second time its happened, it erased my SD card. I have a 3.75 gb card in it, which was once loaded up with stuff, and my phone decided to erase it after it froze. Then, just yesterday, it erased it after I synced some files to it from my laptop. Is there any record of this happening to anyone else, and any way of preventing it from happening again? The whole reason I have a memory card is to store stuff on it, but I can't for fear it will become deleted...thanks in advance, everyone.

I'd recommend trying another SD card. If your current one is corrupted or gone bad, it can cause all sorts of similar issues. Otherwise, I don't know, sorry.
Russian smashed across the interwebz from my T-Mobile Galaxy S2. Please hit thanks if I helped.
Hmm, alright. I'll try another card for a while and see if the problem persists. Thanks alot for the reply! As simple as it was, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Also don't use a cheap no name SD card. And format it with ur phone then start using it before anything goes on it.

Ok. After having started the vertical lines thread I don't want to seem like a negative Nancy.
But my device has just been rebooting randomly like probably 5-10 times a day. Anyone else have this issue?
I'm assuming its a software issue knowing Samsung. But I just want to confirm with other people. I may exchange mine if I'm the only one having this issue.
I so really like the device though. Runs fast and smooth. Just stop rebooting on me! Lol

I have had one random reboot that I've noticed... Unfortunately it happened to me today as I was calling to speak with a guy about a possible job... He bought the "my phone dropped" answer I gave him when I called back but there was a frantic moment or two on my end when it happened...
What apps have you installed?

I did some reading and it looks like one of the other galaxy sII variants had reboot issues with SD cards.
I have a 16gb Samsung card I put into mine. I'm not sure if that's related. Perhaps I should just exchange.

If its an SD card issue then take out the SD card and see what happens or try formatting the SD card. I also have a 16gb SD card that I took out of my old Hd2 and my phone is working flawlessly. Definitely the best phone I've used to date and I've owned 2 Nexus S, 1 Nexus One, 2 G2x, 1 Hd2, 4 myTouch 4G, 1 myTouch 4g Slide, 1 Sensation 4g, 2 Vibrant's, Hd7 etc.
My point is I know my stuff when it comes to these Smart/Super Phones and I can say this one tops them all.

Same here, and also almost the same amout of reboots per day. I even flashed the Stock, deodexed, rooted ROM posted and still rebooted. It always do it when it's in my leather case. Haven't seen it yet do it out of the case. I'm assuming it might be the magnet on the case.
My opinion the volume rocker & power sticks out a little bit to much.
Anyways I'm getting my replacement from Wirefly today. Let's see how the 2nd unit does.

Hate to necro a thread, but better than starting a new one for the same issue Same problem as zoth...stock rooted deodexed ROM, 16GB SD card (but it was doing it before I put the SD card in), not under or over clocked, maybe 20 installed apps. Mine also seems to reboot when in the leather case. I go to make a call or text, pull it out, and its rebooting.
Is there a known fix? Or just return it? Just got it a week ago.
I've had one reboot but I was messing with clocks and voltages. Other than that, smooth sailing here.

OK. I didnt know if it was the ROM or the hardware. Im currently using Mr X's Tmoble SGH-T989UVKL1 Stock, Rooted, Lightly Tweaked, 100% [CIQ Free]
I was having this problem for a while, turned out my internal memory had somehow gotten corrupted.
To test is this is your problem, make a nandroid backup and then restore to it. If there is an error while restoring, then your memory is corrupted and you need to run SuperWipe.
In case you're worried about losing your data, at least in my case, I could still restore to the backup that had the corruption, but restoring it would cause the corruption to be present again, but obviously no guarantees.

Hello! I have been searching around the forums for this problem, and I can't seem to find it, so I'll post it here.
Anyway, my rooted Droid Incredible, with CyanogenMod 7.1, as well as my mom's Droid Incredible, stock on Android 2.3.4 recently updated by HTC, have both been having troubles with our 16 Gig micro sd cards. Randomly, after a boot, the sd card becomes unreadable and corrupted, so I had to go back to our old 2 gig ones. As far as I know none of our cards were even close to being filled, with cards at a max only being filled about 25 percent full. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Copy contents of both to pc, reformat them FAT32, copy content back onto each, and put them back in the devices. Note that the device is OFF when you remove and reinstall the SD.

Thank you, however I already have done this in the past, because our Droid Incredibles have a history of doing this. However, this time is a problem, because our SD card will not even be read by the computer. I am assuming that whatever important is on there is lost and cannot be recovered, although it would be great if we could. My main problem now is that because the phone or the computer (running Windows 7) cannot even know it's there, I cannot reformat. Any advice?
Can you use the phone to reformat it?

Already tried, still wouldn't do anything.

Hmm, if both run without error with the other cards, I can only speculate the 16gb ones are what's wonky.
Absent pc backups from an earlier time, I'd say the 16's get retired and the 2's put back into service.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Ok thanks. I'm going to try just buying another card from another brand.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
What brand were you using?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Have you checked it on Linux? Download a copy to a disk and boot it up. Then pop it into a card reader and see what's there. Windows doesn't recognize ext partitions, so if your card is formatted ext it may not show up.
Just a thought... Merry Christmas.
...Sorry...I was on the phone...
PNY was the brand I was using, however I am now successfully using an 8 gig SanDisk, and it's working now. You see, the reason I asked is because this isn't the first time this has happened in my Dinc, and I've been able to save it in the past, but this time I couldn't, and I was wondering if there's a reason our sd cards kept crashing. Anyway, we'll see if it was just a bad manufacturer. And I would install Ubuntu, however we only have one computer in the house, so I just keep Ubuntu on a flash drive just in case Windows goes kaput, and I need to access files.

And sorry, I hope you have a great Christmas! Thank you for the help.

I had something like this happen to me on an 8GB card. It could not format inside the phone, and the laptop was not detecting it, infact there was no option to use as disk drive. Finally I fixed it. I had to go into recovery, mounts and storage, mount usb storage. And lo and behold, it showed up on my laptop when I connected it. I now did a FULL FORMAT, not quick format. After this, I put it back in the phone and it's as good as new. Hope this helps someone.
So I don't know what's happening but I have a 32gb class 10 micro sd card. And once a week it just goes corrupt and my files are all corrupt. It's seriously getting on my nerves and I don't know what to do. I I've formatted it in the phone and in a pc and it doesn't matter it still happens.

Sounds like the card may just be faulty?
I have had one incident with my current SD card recently where it wiped itself but fortunately it hasn't happened again. I have a 32 GB Class 10 also. I have read of other experiences with QC issues with lesser known brands like "Patriot" (my current) or "PNY". I think for my next one I'll spend the extra dough and go Samsung. I hear those are built like tanks

So far no issues. I didn't want to spend more money on a Samsung card when I already had a perfectly good SanDisk. Now if you are buying a new card to use in your note, I skip the headache and don't get a SanDisk.

So the problem has slowly crept back in. The next step is to feed Samsung some more cash for a new sdcard. Almost as bad as Apple.

Maybe you should edit the title of the thread to indicate that the problem isn't solved...
I had this issue on my Samsung Epic 4g. I found it to be an issue with having too many apps running from the SD card.
I went through several sd cards, reformatted countless times, to no avail. Only after taking a bunch of apps off my card, and using primarily the internal memory of the phone did it finally stop doing the "sd unexpected removed" error. It has been almost 4 months of daily use without a single hiccup since.
Try it on your phone and hopefully it can resolve your particular problems.

I got mine from Low Lat Plaza in Kuala Lumpur in September. It could be a bad batch. It is strange that it is only the 32gb ultra that is affected.
Looks like it is time to get a 64gb class 10. I was trying to wait till my next trip to Asia in June but now might have to bite the bullet sooner.
What kernels are you guys running? I had this problem last night after flashing a new kernel, I couldn't get my card(Sandisk 64gb class 10) to mount at all. As soon as I flashed back to Perseus it mounted just fine. Random thoughts, just something to check.
