Hi, I have been reading about this in this forum. How does it work.? I mean our gnex is 320 dpi. Does it mean that when we drop the value of our dpi will result in bigger text/image resolution. Is it the same as computer monitor resolution, that is when resolution is lowered it will result in bigger, less sharper, lower quality images and text. What are the uses of lowering dpi? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I like using my DHD with lowered Density, but then I experience many Apps not compatible with my Density. Is there any other Density for the DHD that makes most Apps work?
TIA
I used 192, but changed recently to 200 and never had a problem with both.
Ok thx. It's like I have 5 updates available with 240 but only one with 190 or 200.
I have all of them available with 160 but my notification bar glitches in some strange way.
I experienced that if you have low density and then try to run apps or specially games, you'll get smaller resolutions in the game. I don't know if it's worth it? you can try installing an app from market which can make font smaller and give you that feeling..
It's not just the fonts. I can change that in CM. It's just, I like having more space on the homescreens and so on
I've tried the LCD Resolution app on my ICS 4.0.4 Arc S and the layout of the menus etc were pretty messed up. do any of those apps work well on the Arc S? and if so which one and whats a good dpi setting to use to improve the visual experience?
Sometimes you'll have to experiment with numbers 1-9 on the dpi scale. Example I'm at 240dpi, in order for my stuff to look correct I need to set the rest of my dpi on a 3. So example, my usual dpi will be 163dpi. If I do anything other than 3 besides 240 mg screen and information will be messed up.
Edit : Certain launchers will also make a difference as they may be specified to work at the original dpi or be flexible to a new dpi.
Edit2 : Sometimes certain roms don't like dpi, a few sense and ics roms here on the Droid Incredible have issues with the dpi, if I got below 200, sense and ics roms cause certain things to stretch or stay the same dpi even though its a new dpi. Example, sense lock screen gets smaller and does not fit the screen so its off. I try to avoid using dpi on sense because of this and many other reasons, AOSP is a great place to use dpi.

Because using dpi messes the market up I use LCD Density Modded Pro. It allows you to get items from the market your android can't normally find.

Hi,
I am using the hyperdrive rom and was wondering if it is possible to lower the dpi resolution so it all becomes a bit smaller.
I know there are many apps in playstore but they dont do a propper job.

Did you try Build prop Editor ? You have to play with ro.sf.lcd_density (Increase the value to increase the icon's size).

Hello.
Im running at 400 dpi.
Is dpi only making things smaller? And the resolution is still 1440p?
If i go under 400 its looks like my phone is a tablet.
Sendt fra min LG G3 @ Android 5.0.2 Custom
Changing the dpi changes how many pixels per inch the display is showing, so yes it will change the size of things, but the res should still be 1440p (Correct me if I'm wrong)
Hello, I would like to request if someone can made a MOD to lollipop, to lower screen resolution to 1920x1080 and 400 dpi. I did changed the resolution, system performance was too much better, but system apps and the keyboard broke =/

No go. DPI 530 is the lowest you can go. Only thing you can do is set the overall dpi to 400 and the specific FC'ing LG apps to 540 or so (using xposed).
