please help..
You shouldn't need to have Debugging on for it to sync with HTC Sync; Disable it in Settings>Development , uncheck all boxes.
thanks for the reply.... what can I do now... sync is not yet working....

Good stuff. The software nowhere near as good as MS ActiveSync.
and there I was thinking I was the only one that didn't RTFM when I got mine yesterday and it wouldn't work with the version of HTC sync I had already installed.
nah, the versions on the HTC website don't have the drivers for android 2.1 phones.
you need the one on the card, which i think is 2.0.28. 2.0.18 and earlier just won't see the phone. I'm sure they'll shove it up on the site soon. i think however that i shall avoid it like the plague, no matter what version it is!
Hi Everyone
The problem is that Windows 7 64 bits, does not see my G2 anymore.
It does charge when i plug the USB.
I've tried on a different PC so I don't think the PC is the problem.
I have Cyanogen Mod installed as ROM. I can't get adb, nothing through the USB cable. Switch to diff cables as well just in case, installed Sense ROM as well no luck yet
Please help
did you install the htc usb drivers?

could not find on google the drivers.
any htc sync would work?
can't find any htc sync specific for g2
If I didnt remember wrongly, it has something to do with ADB. Go google for "google usb driver".

so i´ve done the searching - hit the thanks button
Download HTC Sync from the support section of HTC's website, they have one version for all their Android phones. That will give you the drivers you need. Also see the adb guide in my signature.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.

I would like to thank all members that tried to help on this. Appreciate your guys time and good intentions!
A friend of mine helped me install jellybean on my desireHD. (JellyTime_R9)
1. Now when I connect my phone to PC via USB cable, I only get the option for data transfer. Earlier I could use the internet pass through and use the PC's internet connection through phone.
2. I would also like to have the HTC sync back? I searched a lot but couldn't locate the .apk file for the same.
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Arun
You can have those only on Sense ROMs. JT is not Sense.

that's what I was afraid of! that internet pass through was an useful feature, but then I guess it's a trade off and have to live with it!
I'm not sure but try googling if there are some 3rd party apps that would have this functionality...
Hello,
I have just installed Maximum v5 and it all works fine except when it comes to syncing my PC/Mac with the phone. If I connect the phone to the computer or Mac I can see the device and can see the folders to be able to manually drag music etc. What I can't do is use the phone with any sync software such as HTC Sync or Double Twist. It just won't see the phone. It says it is connected in an unsupported USB mode. How can I go about getting it so that I can mount it the same as when I had ICS running on it so that I can use programs to sync files and music?
EDIT: Just found I can mount it by using Recovery.
Is there no app that can do this without me having to boot in to the recovery every time I want to sync?

Is there no way of doing it without rebooting every time? Like a MOD or an app?

That kind of sucks
I'm sure I read about some WiFi based thing for copying files. Can't tell you more I'm afraid.
Basically my phone battery is draining like crazy and at times it can be realllyyy laggy, so I want to do a factory reset.
Though, for the many games and stuff I have on here, I want to backup my saves.
Now my phone is not rooted, so I wanted to use the ADB backup method with no root required.
Problem is, adb cannot connect to device for backup.
I have tried installing HTC Sync and HTC Sync Manager, both of which fail installing "HTC Installation Drivers" every time. I've also tried on another laptop.
I've read that this may be due to 64 bit operating systems, but I don't have access to a 32 bit. Any help?
download android SDK.

Are you on Jelly bean? if so install Sync manager by just plugging your phone in via usb. If on ICS you will need to intall HTC Sync from the following link for the drivers:
http://www.htc.com/uk/software/htc-sync-manager/download/
