[Q] HTC Sync Issue / Other Sync Programs - HTC One X

Hello,
I have just installed Maximum v5 and it all works fine except when it comes to syncing my PC/Mac with the phone. If I connect the phone to the computer or Mac I can see the device and can see the folders to be able to manually drag music etc. What I can't do is use the phone with any sync software such as HTC Sync or Double Twist. It just won't see the phone. It says it is connected in an unsupported USB mode. How can I go about getting it so that I can mount it the same as when I had ICS running on it so that I can use programs to sync files and music?
EDIT: Just found I can mount it by using Recovery.
Is there no app that can do this without me having to boot in to the recovery every time I want to sync?

That kind of sucks

I'm sure I read about some WiFi based thing for copying files. Can't tell you more I'm afraid.

[Q] USB stopped working :S

When I connect it,all I see is the USB debugging icon. Any help please? I'd really hate mounting/unmounting all the time.
I believe I had this problem when I removed the Setup Wizard from my phone and it also killed my Home button.

I've frozen some apps via TB but I'm sure those weren't the problems.
I've deleted Setup Wizard a while ago and my phone was working fine.
Yeah, I've been doing some heavy ROM cooking and reflashing and my USB problem was definitely caused by removing Setup Wizard and I think Crash Handler/Crash Reporter, something along those lines. I put them back, reflashed and it was fine.

Thanks for the help. Guess I have to mount until I flash a new FW.
Sorry, it's CrashMonitor and Setup Wizard. I think there's a link somewhere here in the forums for all the default APKs for just this kind of occasion, so you won't have to reflash.

Hmm,I remember messing with an MTP in TB ...
Yeah,I don't have an MTP app in apps/TB. If this works I love you
and it WORKS! Thank you so much.
Im also having this problem. It worked and now when I connect to USB it fails to install driver.. what am I missing? Is it this MTB app. I'm not technically proficient so any links would be appreciated.
Edit - Just checked phone and i have an MTPapp when i look for apps to freeze or backup. It's installed and everything but the USB still doesn't connect. It just goes to install a driver and then fails.

My pleasure.
I think I mess up my mtpAPP too before, tried to install a new one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036249 but I think it doesn't work..
my question is, is the mtpAPP there the same with mtpApp for 2.3.3 (4.0.a.2.368)?

Possible to access local contact?

I have a case with a Desire which is stuck at a bootloop, and before trying to reflash, I would like to know if there is any way to access the local contacts which unfortunately hasn't been backed up or synced
Why not just try to get it working again???
It's only a bootloop - can you access bootloader or recovery??
Bootloader info please - are you s - off?
If you are rooted, you can adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db
You should be able to open this in SQLite
The view you want to look at is view_v1_Phones (view).
best bet would be to pull the whole com.android.providers.contacts folder and fix your phone. If you have to wipe, you can push this back.
Thanks for your reply guys
To start with, I'll let you know that it's not my own HTC desire, It's a friend of mine, and he just tells me that it's stuck in somekind of a bootloop, and his first question was how to save/backup local contacts before trying anything else (reflash or something else which includes wiping the device)

Camera App isn't saving pictures! Awarding $10 for solution.

My camera app isn't saving anything locally whenever I take a picture. In fact, there's no gallery icon in the camera app at all that you can normally click on it to take you there.
Also, when I try to attach a photo to a message from the MMS app, Gallery crashes and photo never attaches.
Finally, when I load up Gallery manually, all it sees is my 'Screenshots' folder and a couple of screenshots that I have saved in there. There's no camera photos anywhere.
I'm running AOKP JB B2 and FrankoKernel Milestone 5
Any ideas? I've tried SD rescan already. I'm wondering if I need to reformat my internal storage. I've just noticed that my 'external storage' isn't showing up when I plug my GN into my PC as well and whenever I run SDRescan, SwiftKey starts getting angry and tells me I have no language files and I have to redownload the English dictionary again.
Finally, I'm offering $10 via PayPal to the person who can help me fix this issue. Thanks!
Is your camera folder still there?
Storage>Sdcard0>DCIM>Camera

Have you tried using an alternative camera app, to make sure the internal SD is working with photos? I suggest CameraICS, it'll be the closest other than CameraJB+, which is a paid app

Downloading now. My service is abysmal at work so it's taking a little bit.
EDIT: CameraICS has no icon for the Gallery when taking pictures. The pictures that are taken don't get saved to SD card. Trying to attach a picture to a message with it crashes CameraICS, instead of crashing Gallery as with the stock JB camera.
You might try re- downloading your ROM and re-flashing with a complete wipe

I believe this has persisted past a couple of ROM installs but I will install AOKP JB B4 when I get home tonight and see what happens.
Will update in ~3-4 hours when I get home and have time to do this. Maybe corrupted GAPPS? Is that the package with Camera / Gallery in it?

Depends on the Gapps package. Some have the Google built Gallery/Camera (with Picasa sync) others leave the source built version which has extra features such as using the power button for the shutter (but no Picasa sync).

Just finished flashing GAPPS and AOKP JB B4 from here:
http://aokp.co/index.php/releases/_/jb-build-4-r32
Verified the MD5 of both before flashing. And the same exact problem is persisting. Gallery crashes when attaching through MMS and camera photos end up lost in the ether, never saved to SD card.

Try This, flash it using CWM

This happened to me when I first rooted my Nexus. The camera toke the pics, but they weren't saved... plus some other weird things.
It ended being a file/folder permissions issue. It seems I did a nandroid backup restoration in a wrong way (I wanted to restore my previous data, after the mandatory wipe out of the rooting method).
Anyways... The post that gave me tips for the fix was this one (from user cmstlist):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26967620&postcount=7
Sometimes the file ownerships get messed up after a cycle of recovering the OS and restoring files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1515291&page=2
If you have any other directories/files that you can't modify or delete, then boot into CWM recovery, plug in the USB cable, go into adb shell. Also make sure that /data is mounted in the CWM mounts menu. Then:
cd /data/media
chown -R media_rw.media_rw *
This fixed it for me and others.

This will require installing Samsung USB drivers along with the SDK will it not?
Drivers. You can get the platform tools without setting up the SDK attached to the OP here

Whenever I go to "choose driver to install" windows says that it has determined that it has installed the best drivers already...
EDIT: Had to load into the Bootloader, right click Android 1.0 and then choose install driver.
Fixed! Fixing the folder permission was the key. Thanks to Transcan!

And thats enough pay for me, so save those 10$... Or maybe donate them to one of the great developers in this forum.
I just wanted to share the little I know, and I hope somebody else will find this post useful.
Kind regards.

[Q] Installed 4.1.2 ROM Music Now Won't Play

Complete Edit: Problem is that since I flashed my phone with AOPK's rom and that music and videos will not play. The speaker by the ear will not work during calls and the headphones aren't registering properly (maybe with the headphones). I remember when I opened doubletwist and I got a message that went along the lines of that this is a custom rom and it was missing apis (I forget if that was it or not, I might have gotten it wrong) necessary to run some apps. And I'm thinking that is the real issue.
I have tried a lot of things, please take a look through the thread to see what I've already tried and didn't work.
I'm thinking I need to flash it with a different rom OR would really like it that if someone else who has the normal HTC One V software that isn't customized or anything, if they could leave a Clockwork backup file here so I can get my phone back to what it once was.
Try a full format of the sdcard from the pc or lappy.backup all the contents and format it(the full format, not the quick one)..

Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. :c It's not an app issue since it won't work on other apps either.
Try clearing the media storage as said above.
Move any one music file to internal memory, and then see if it plays.
Maybe because its not able to read the music from the sd

Why wouldnt it let you?what does it say?
Last option in my opinion would be a factory reset and re-install the rom.

It said that it couldn't copy it to that area. I've already done a factory reset and the rom, I'm a bit wary of doing that but it might be an option.
I'll come back on tomorrow and some other days, but as of now it's almost 2:00 am here and I'm so exhausted. Good night!
Ok,try using root explorer, copy the music file, mount system as read/write and go to mnt/emmc and see if it copies there.
