Pull the battery and put it bback in. Turn it on. It can be a SOD. ( sleep of death)
Sod's are reported to happen also on stock.

When i place a call and put the phone to my ear and then pull back away the screen does not "wake". It stays de-activated, no matter what i do. Eventually the only thing to do is to hold the power button down long enough for the phone to reboot.
Stock ROM, no root.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
I posted this on Q&A but got no response. I know this is where the smart guys in the room hang out so figured i'd have better luck here.

So my Sprint GS3 wont boot up....I haven't done anything to it for a couple days. It was fine this morning..it kinda dropped on the ground but it was still working. After some time I noticed that although the volume was up...there was no sound, so I went and did a reboot...since then I cant get the phone to start up...I cant even get it to go into recovery....what else can I do?
The phone goes up to where it says "Samsung Galaxy S 3"...holds there for like 30 sec (I think) then goes black...after that...there no responds...
I'm running CM10 (JellyBro) Rom...and I haven't had an issues until now....I believe the fall has made it act the way its acting now....do I have any options?

Have you tried booting into download mode? That's the only thing I can think of right now.
Hi, I am currently running AOKP JB Build 3 on my gnex, with franco kernel milestone 6. Somehow my gnex turn off the wifi each time i unlock the phone. So it kinda goes like this:
phone connected to wifi, i pressed the power button, after a while i turn on my phone, on the lockscreen the wifi looked on and connected, i proceed to unlock my phone, wifi disconnected, after a while the wifi will reconnect again.
is this normal? what's wrong and what can i do about it?
sersolm bcos
I use AOKP, too. But I have no trouble.

Settings, WiFi, menu, advanced.
good day.
This afternoon I flashed myOnev rc6.0 FX combined with the Hellboy kernel.
Initially this all seemed fine, could make calls, listen to FM radio and use the music player to drive my network connect and supported audio devices.
But this evening at around 20.00u (did not check for maybe 2 hours, last check +80% battery) the phone is completely unresponsive.
No response to the buttons, no response to connecting it to a charger, no response when connecting to a computer (not even a usb device is recognized).
It does not seem like a bad flash to me, but I have no idea what could be wrong, any suggestions are appreciated in helping me recover the phone.
The device is now connected for the last 15 min to a computer, but still no response, no led indicating charge in progress, no response to the power button.
Hope someone has a clue what this is.
Regards

sounds like you got bricked, it's a random brick, and no one's fault, it's not caused by rooting, i suggest you send it to the HTC repair centre... i know this 1st hand. by the way Questions go the Q&A thread in future

Questions will go to Q&A, next time, was a bit desperate
To continue the story, after holding the powerbutton for 5 minutes or so, the phone became alive again, wit a 70% battery charge.
Now it is back to UJelly running recommended kernel.
Only thing left is finding a working fm radio app
