Need Help, Difficult situation I'm in. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

So my e4gt is finially acting up and I have the always charging problem. So how would I go back to complete stock when my phone cant be detected via odin, or just to transfer files? Because I plan on seeing if I can get another one shipped to me and giving them my broken one. And I'm sure its been less than a year. So I can do it. From what I heard.... So what can I do?

Try a new micro USB cable??
Have a skilled technician re flow the solder on the USB jack, or even replace it if the pins are damaged :|

Would you know anything about how I can get a new phone? If not how would I fix the usb part of the phone? And sometimes my phone can detect it and sometimes it doesn't. I've also tried re installing the drivers.

Take it to someone that has worked on cell phone soldering, it sounds like a bad solder connection or a bad micro usb port.
Its trivial repair work for someone that has experience with such things.

Does anyone know anything about returning the phone, I know for sure it hasent been a week.

Have you tried to use mobile Odin? I would dl stock Rom and modem zips then Use mobile Odin to flash EL29 direct boot cwm. Load stock modem kernel/ROM using cwm. Then you can ota current and take back to sprint.

where would I find the file to mobile odin el29 direct boot cwm or is this the kernel you're talking about? If so where can I find the stock model kernel and rom? Is this all possible, because odin won't even read my phone through my usb.

DL mobile Odin. You can get a free version on xda.
Stock Rom zips - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903252
Stock EL29 - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429243
EL29 direct boot cwm v3 - e4gtcm.blogspot.com/p/tools.html
DL rom, GB or ICS modem, direct boot tar and save on internal or external storage. Install mobile Odin flash direct boot kernel. Phone will reboot to cwm, wipe, flash stock Rom and modem, reboot and you should be back to rooted stock. Update phone with sprint ota and you should be done.
This is what I would do with my phone to get back to stock. If you are unsure of any of these steps, please read until you are comfortable. I am not responsible for what happens to your phone. Good luck!

Phone not recognized by e4gtauto-sfx Help please

Title says most of it but will give whole back story.
On EL29 Rooted using the EL29 Odin flash then used the e4gtauto-sfx and flashed EL29+CWM. Used CWM did a backup and then installed Blazer Rom tried it for a few days and then wanted to try something else to see what else there is. So not thinking I used Odin and used the flash back to EL29 rooted and then lost CWM.
I am now trying to use the e4gtauto-sfx to flash back to EL29+CWM but it gets to waiting for device to be connected and will go no further. I have checked and unchecked usb debugging, installed and uninstalled drivers again and again and no matter what I do the e4gtauto-sfx will not connect to my phone again. I can use Odin fine and I can see it in my device manager the same as before other programs like CDMA Workshop recognize it fine but not the e4gtauto-sfx.
Out of ideas of how to fix it so here asking for any help to try to figure this out.
Get the EG30 Odin or get a kernel with CWM built in in Odin form. EL29 has a different bootloader that's why the auto root does not work on it. I always just flash EG30 and go at it from there fast and simple.

So I can use the "same" EG30 root flash for Odin just like I did the EL29 or some other steps required to flash different modems?
Yes just find a kernel with CWM already built in in Odin tar format. Use Odin to flash it and it will give you CWM back and you are fine.
My rule of thumb I just always keep EG30 tar around if I need it but that's me.

odin does not require a rooted phone to flash.
you can flash any rom/kernel/modem you wish providing it is a .tar file.

If Auto Root doesn't recognize your phone, basically "adb" doesn't recognize your phone. That is pretty basic functionality if you are on xda. You should go over FAQ #E3 in the 2nd post of the Auto Root thread, which is the troubleshooting checklist. I would reboot your PC also (or kill the adb server using Option E)
You don't actually need a PC to install CWM. Just copy the files in copy2sd\000root and copy2sd-img\000root to your /sdcard on your phone and follow the manual install directions in the 2nd post of the Auto Root thread.

[Q] Different Modem for CM9 A2

Hey guys!
This is my first post on XDA, though I've been creeping on these forums for years rooting my Orginal Gangster G1 and my Epic 4g. I recently just got the E4GT and I love it.
Obviously the first thing I did after charging it up was start getting it rooted and etc. So started on stock EL29, and with using all of QBking77's great videos, I rooted it with One-Click Root, got recovery on it, then did the whole process of getting CM9 Alpha 2 on my phone. Everything went perfectly and its running smoothly!
But now the question is how can I change my modem? I'm assuming EL29 is from Gingerbread and the F*xx's are ICS (if not just the latest F's?). But regardless of what they there, is it possible to change my modem WITHOUT going back to stock with the One Click root/restore, and then flashing a new modem, and then going through the whole process of installing CM9 again?
If there isn't, could someone please tell me what the most effective and safe way is to change my modem on CM9 is? And what is the general consensus on which modem is the best running with CM9. FC24, FD05, etc?
Thanks for the help in advance! It feels good to finally post!
If you really wanted to you could start fresh and install the modem along with CM9 again.
But most people will tell you to ODIN an EL26+CWM kernel and boot to recovery when it reboots, flash the modem, and then flash the kernel that comes with CM9. Its an easy process.
If I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me
EDIT: Modems really are hit and miss for me. I suggest just taking a couple days and testing them out to see which one works best for you.
Just to make sure I have this right:
1. Odin the EL26+CWM kernal, just like I did to flash CM9.
2. Boot in to recovery, after Odin is finished.
3. Flash the modem through recovery. From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352310
4. Then flash the CM9 kernel.
5. And we are good to go?
Question is by flashing the CM9 Kernel do you just mean flashing the Rom zip (cm-update-9 blah blah), or is there a separate kernel file.
That's all correct except for the fact that there should be a separate kernel that you can flash for CM9. I'm not sure about all that so you might want to ask around about that. Just make sure you don't flash a TouchWiz kernel, as CM9 requires an AOSP one.
EDIT: Just looked at the link and make sure that the modem you flash is in CWM .zip format. You don't use tars in CWM.
You can also get mobile Odin from the play store and flash a modem (.tar file, can be found on Calk's ICS 1.4 thread) through that.

That's the method I use. Most people don't want to pay for the app. 100% worth it though.
Another easy method
A free method is to download Odin to your PC, put the .tar file into the Phone slot, hook up your phone in download mode and flash it from there, easy as pie.
Edit: Don't forget to leave only automatic reboot checked in Odin.

Its late here and I wasn't thinking straight. My method had so many extra steps it wasn't funny. I can officially say my badddd.
The extra steps are worth the experience

So I can just flash the modem through odin? Awesome. Do they have the .tar's for all the modems? Or just some of them? And what's the risk of flashing it from Odin compared to method of doing a completely clean install with a different modem?

Clearing up a couple things:
1) Last I checked you cannot flash modems from Mobile ODIN on this phone. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, such as Epix4G...
2) Calk's ROM threads usually contain a list of all modem TAR files so that they can be upgraded.
3) Modems need to be flashed through ODIN as far as I understood. But whether or not you should revert to EL26 before flashing? I can give the CW advice of going back to EL26 (better safe than sorry IMO), but hopefully a person experienced with CM9 can give you better advice on this.
I'm running CM9 A2, and I've been keeping up with the latest modems using Odin. The beauty of it is that it is almost completely risk-free, no need to revert to EL26. Calks E4GT ICS thread has all the modem .tar files in the OP, flash away.
No offense meant, but we are talking about modems, not kernels, right?

[Q] HELP - VZW (Toro) USB broken, need to go to stock for return!

I'm currently running AOKP JB5 on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and my USB port crapped out. If I wiggle it, I can eventually get it to charge but at best it just does the ba-dink... ba-dunk... in Windows 7 and never mounts. I have CWM installed. I am facing a $299 fee if I return this phone with a custom firmware on it and only now did I realize that the stock firmware images aren't packaged the same way every custom firmware I've installed has been. I can easily transfer files to/from the phone over wifi with AirDroid but all tutorials for going back to stock firmware involve USB connections. Why aren't official firmwares ever packaged like custom firmwares? I had (incorrectly) assumed I could just use CWM to flash a stock firmware, relock the boot loader, then unroot the device and I'd be set (although I guess the recovery would still be CWM in that scheme...)
I need options for getting my Gnex back to a stock unrooted firmware with a locked bootloader. T-minus 4 days until I have to have this phone in FedEx's hands. What are my options guys?
lock your bootloader with: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.segv11.bootunlocker
then use mobile odin to go back to stock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro

Two follow-up questions.
How can I replace CWM recovery with stock?
Lastly (and possibly most importantly) where do I get (or what do I do to) stock ROM images to work with Mobile Odin? I see official factory images for my phone hosted by Google, but they're in .tgz format and it looks like Mobile Odin is wanting it in some other form... I understand I'm working with a handicap having my USB port busted, but flashing back to a stock firmware seems WAY more difficult than it was to root and flash in the first place... any help is greatly appreciated.

You need an Odin file, and should be one in the dev forum for vzw.
It is more difficult because you don't have a functional usb port. Otherwise you could easily flash the stock images and re lock the bootloader

Signed Stock Rom

Hopefully I have an easy one.
I am trying to flash the stock rom back to my S3. My usb port is broken and I need to send it in for service. I have the the stock recovery back on, and when I try to flash the stock rom from the sd card I keep getting verification error, and after some research it seems its because the image I have is not signed by Samsung. I have tried searching for awhile now trying to get some information on how to get the stock rom flashed back via the stock recovery and I have hit a wall. Can anyone give me some pointers on how I can get this loaded up?
Thank you!
You cannot flash firmware from within stock recovery. Reinstall cwm, flash stock touchwiz firmware and then proceed with resetting/unrooting your device
Or Odin flash a stock ROM.

Thanks!

[Q] SGH-I747M - Fido - Need help unrooting

I have searched the forums and web regarding unrooting my S3. The problem is that everything I'm finding is using Odin which requires a USB connection. The reason I want to unroot my phone is because I need to claim a warranty repair because I can't charge my batter with my phone because the usb port doesn't work. I know for sure it is the phone as I can charge the battery if I put it in another S3. I've tried 2 different charging cables and both of them will charge other phones when connected. I can't get the usb to connect to the computer either.
Here is what I have done:
1. TWRP is installed as the recovery.
2. SuperSU is installed through goomanager.
NO ROM's have been installed. It is the stock ROM. All I did was Unlock it and install TWRP followed by installing goomanager/SuperSU. I used the ChainFire solution to get it working.
Can someone please point me to do this with a guid NOT using USB. I figure there must be a way using the micro SD card or something. I mean, it should be just a matter of installing the software to reset the counter, then delete SuperSU and then replace the recovery image with the stock recover image. I would image that TWRP has that ability built it, doesn't it?

Same results as flashing with normal Odin without needing USB.

Whichever Fido is affiliated with. I think it's Rogers? Could be wrong though.
The Canadian variants latest release is dlk4. Sammobile also has a "Canada" option that is the 4.1.1 dlk4 release located on the page.
There are 5 or so that have DLK4. The Canada one without the carrier listed, when you download it says KDO which I would assume stands for Koodo. I downloaded the Roger's one because Fido is owned by Rogers.
However, is there going to be any branding of Rogers on the phone that Fido will send it back and say it is not covered under warranty?
Also... I installed Triangle Away and reset the counter. It now says "Samsung Official" in the download screen.
Is Mobile Odin and Mobile Odin Pro the same thing?
Is there a guide to follow on how to use Mobile Odin? Also, how much battery do I need. I keep having to get other people to charge my batter for me. It is currently down to 39%. The Mobile Odin Pro app says that you can copy the ROM onto the internal SD card. Is this accurate? I can't afford to make a mistake on this because I won't be able to connect by USB to fix any problems. If it bricks, I'm done.
