Yes it works with that version. You don't need to back anything up prior to rooting as it won't wipe anything.

Thanks for the reply spectre51 im glad I dont need 2 wipe my phone

Firstly, welcome to the forums thanks for posting in the right section...
Secondly I need help I did this wrong is not enough information to help you. What Model is the phone?
What did you do before the issue?
What steps did you take to try and fix the issue?
Thirdly don't type one long line in all caps no one wants to read that.
Try holding power plus the up volume button wait for three vibrates.
Try flashing your stock ftf in flash tool if you can shut the phone off and go into download mode.
Lastly the thread title, I assume you have an Xperia s and since we have more then one model in this forum your title should be [Q] (Xperia s) *name of issue*
Anyone posting a new topic needs that you're not the only one just posting help!!! Topics... Anyways that's all I can do to help others will know more also search the forum I think your problems been solved 81 times now and relax your phone will be fine when someone smarter then me comes by to help you

LT26i - I CANT INSTALL ANY FIRMWARE O RESTORE THE PHONE

hello
i have been in this forum for a while now and its awesome to learn how ours phone work.
thks for the help
right now i have a problem, i got a lt26i (my boss phone), he gave me the phone a few days ago, saying that the phone was inoperable due it always appear "recommender app is not working".
i took the phone, made a backup and then try to "restore the phone" to default, the process went fine, the phone rebooted and when finished the restart process, the phone was exactly in the same way it was a few minutes ago.
that surprised me, but, i continue with the next step, USE FLASHTOOL.:fingers-crossed:
i was confident with this step, i did select the firmware LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD.ftf, and everything went fine, and again when the phone restared, nothing, in the same spot.
after that, i thought that maybe if i install a custom kernel and rom, maybe i could have access to the phone again, but no, due i cant take root access or install any recovery program.
i dont know what else can use or do.
thks in advance for your response
AND SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH
regards

Its bootloader, is it unlocked?
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Dude,
You could also try Sony update service to push original stock firmware to the device.
But this will wipe all data and will only work if you have not unlocked the bootloader

well, the bootloader is unlocked, so i guess im $%"#ed! any other ideas?

Look here if u want to unlock your bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650510
And no you don't have to flash the ftf right after unlocking bootloader, you can do it anytime... Unlocking bootloader and flashing ftf are two different things

Hello Kaml,
Im not sure if rooting "by unlcking bootloader" is the only option you are considering but you dont need to unlock bootloader to root 4.3.
I rooted my Xperia on 4.3 following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51730927
If you want to unlock bootloader anyway, please, make a backup of the TA partition first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
To unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650510

Rooting with locked bl is too complex i didnt get it clearly and didn't used these tools before :/
Can someone please explain it to me clearly what to do
Sent from my C1904 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Hi Kaml.
Yeah, it's a bit confusing when you first go to it. If you dont like the adrenaline/fear/expectation mix, better is to ask someone else to do it for you
You say that's too complicated to root with a locked bootloader. That’s not always true, it’s relative. The post I linked to you is very clear and it’s not complicated at all, but you will need to start from a 4.2.2 rooted ROM, maybe that’s the complicated part for you.
Anyway, I suggest you to confirm if you can unlock your bootloader. Did you checked it already? It may save you time by knowing it beforehand.
To check, go to the dialer and type: *#*#7378423#*#* then go for Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you are able to unlock it. This is from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484622
Read that thread, especially when it says “before unlocking please take backup TA partition from here”. By backing up the TA partition you can restore it later if need and then you have some chance of not losing Sony warranty if you ever need it.
Im not aware of other methods for rooting 4.3 besides the link I posted on my first reply, take a look and you will find other methods (probably).
Anyway, if you are interested in backing up the TA partition, it’s only possible if you have a rooted phone already and that’s kinda of a chicken/egg problem so that’s another motive of seeking for rooting methods without touching the bootloader at first. One way to solve it is to half root your phone, enable USB debugging and Unknown Sources from development menu, then run the script to backup the TA partition.

Bro you need to flash the 4.1 firmware using the flashtool.
Here is XMS 4.1 ftf file link- https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B23-yUd9svboQ3g1cGdKdnlWSDA/edit?pli=1
and here is the guide to use flashtool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697277
