I am currently running cm10 nightlies and updating almost every night. While I love the ROM and the life it brought back into my phone, there is one small issue I am having with MMS. I'm obsessed with battery life so I tend to turn off wifi, 3g, etc. as often as possible. This causes any incoming MMS to attempt to download endlessly, effectively maintaining my phone awake and draining my battery (while not notifying me I might add).
My first attempt at fixing this was disabling the "auto-retrieve" option in the messaging app settings. This did not fix my issue either as my phone will not notify me of the MMS waiting for download, yet still keeps my phone awake.
Sadly, I have resorted to enabling 3g ceaselessly.
So my question is: is there a fix for MMS or am I stuck keeping 3g on at all times?
EDIT: here are some screens.

Don't u get notifications for when u receive mms? Can't u just download the mms everytime u get one and turn off internet right after? There probably isn't an actual fix for this.

That's exactly my issue. I hoped I would get notifications for MMS but I don't. I get the notification that I received an MMS AFTER I download it... Zero notifications at all while the MMS is either waiting for download or attempting to download.
Does anyone else run CM10 on the Epic 4g and have this issue? I can't be the only one...

Eeeek what do these mother fudgers want?! I'm being monitored? Lol idek.

its probably just crap . I wouldnt worry to much. If you start to repeatedly receive the message, call sprint...
I think it is cause of cm7. I checked for my voicemail app and it is no longer present.

Yo man thats a voice mail you have if you are using a AOSP rom or CM7 if it doesnt have sprint VM APK cause its senseless you will get that message every time you get a voicemail. kinda sucks.
If you want the texts to stop, you can reinstall sprint voicemail:

Installing the sprint vvm won't stop the texts. Those will continue to come regardless as far as I know. I use Google Voice for all of my vm needs though.
Those texts are completely normal with AOSP ROMs. As stated before, it happens every time you get a voicemail. I think it's part of what makes VVM work. Some people use black list apps like Super Private Conversation to block them.
I use cm7 with youmail and I don't get those texts. If you use youmail it actually fwd all missed calls to its server so sprint never gets it. Annoyance averted. And it works really well as an alternative vvm.

Has anyone else experienced issues with the GPS having a hard time locating after the update? It used to work flawlessly on 402 but now it's pretty much worthless.

GPS has been normal for me since update. Just checked with the GPS test app and it located just fine.

Went into the app's settings > "Update AGPS" and it improved to this:
GPS fine here. And there.

GPS works fine for me here. I'm on stock 4.0.4 yakju rooted. I think GPS initialization is even faster than 4.0.3 (EBMod)
Fine for me too. Faster locking actually. Are you using a custom rom, kernel?
No, completely stock and not rooted. Maybe it's just my imagination, just seems like before the update it worked great and now it can't find me. Even did my update ota.

I too have found myself with the location problem... Maps Google+ Facebook location based features do not work. I have however noticed that when you switch down to 2G it locates fine. I dont know if its data stored in that partition thats causing it maybe, if any devs can chime in and the help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update after troubleshooting I stopped by a T-Mobile store and had my sim card replaced and that did it for me. Once its replaced make sure you cycle off and on a few times.

Interesting, I'll have to try the new sim card thing. Thanks for the heads up.
So I am using the camera on the phone but not able to text photos once they are taken. How do you send pictures taken with stock camera. I tried bot gosms and stock messenger. Thanks
Sent from my Sony Xperia Ion using Tapatalk 2.
On ICS I just use the camera icon in the message app. Works quite well. Come to think of it I have had no issue sending pics at all. Are you still on stock firmware?
Shouldn't it compress the picture before you send?
Sent from my LT28h using xda app-developers app
Yes everything is stock here. I press the quick launch button for the camera, then tried sending with go sms. I asked people if they got the picture and they said no. I tried to resend while on landlines no luck gosms looks like it went through but recipients got nothing. I then went to the stock messaging app and when I tried to send it it said file too large. I am gonna attach the picture. It was a joke to some of my gaming buddies that actually do sell produce so please do not take offense. Thanks for the help.

That's what I thought. Is there a setting to compress pictures
Sent from my Sony Xperia Ion using Tapatalk 2.
Ok checked Mms settings for go sms. I have preserve image resolution checked. I also have maximum Mms size set to 5m since I am always on 4G or lte. I thought this was for receiving pictures but please check your settings. I want to send and receive high quality pictures back and forth with friends and family thanks

Well the default messaging app doesn't even have mms settings lol. Umm could you send everything fine before you installed go sms.

You may have hit your data limit? Can you take a screen shot of the error message if any comes up? I know for myself, using juice defender pro when I go from no 4g to 4g sometimes I lose all data connection and cannot do anything so if you have an app that cuts off data while your phones screen is off that could do it
Can you send other pictures? Check your Apn settings also to be sure they're right

Occasionally when I receive texts I'll get multiple quick reply popups for the same text. Usually anywhere from 2-5 duplicates.
Sometimes I can see these duplicates in the stock messaging app and sometimes they aren't there and there is only 1 text.
Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.
I guess this isn't happening to anyone else?
I'm not experiencing this. Only I've seen is old popups of unread SMS messages when a new one arrives.
Maybe you should post it in the cm thread?
Beamed from my CM10.1 Galaxy Nexus
I had this problem since "always". It happens randomly and for no particular reason.
Anyone has a fix for this?
I've had this happen on several occasions, and it happens when the text count hits the max allowed (CM default is 500)... for me anyway. I try to delete my threads when they get too big, and it seems to help prevent it from happening.
To resolve it (again, for me anyway), I delete all threads and clear the cache in the Messaging app. That seems to usually work for me.

In the messaging app under settings > text messaging limit.

I did some research here and on the internet to set up my gmail account with exchange settings to get push notifications but none work.
Not sure if its a sprint thing.
It worked fine on ATT.
Anyone has any idea how to do it?
thanks
Don't we have push notifications already with the default Gmail app?

Are you using the Gmail app? I'm on sprint too and there isn't a way that I know of to change the sync times....should be push by default.....

And you're sure you're using the dedicated Gmail app and not the secondary mail app?
