Most probably this is faulty screen. Try contacting Samsung for warranty claims.

ah now have to backup all data...good thing though i still have my warranty.
but the problem is what if this didn't occur in front of the service provier

me too
I have the same line sometimes showing up. Don't know what that is... If someone knows something more, please post.

Hi all,
I had that too. My wife note 2 has that too. I tried out many units also had that too. Had reported to Samsung and they say is software issue. Tried format and reload software and full factory reset can't solve it. This symptom is intermittent. Hope 4.1.2 can solve it. The symptom does not affect the phone functionality but its annoying.

Solved
Hi everyone,
thanks for all your reply and really appreciate your help.
but i figured out the line didn't come up when i off the power saving mode.
i had accidentally using my mobile in power saving mode for last days.
now i switched off power saving and this line didn't occur after that.
so try you devices without power saving.
and please post results.
btw i contacted customer care here in Sri Lanka n they told they have no idea about a such error.
thank you.

Hi,
Disable power saving mode did help. So far no occurance. But notice it happen sometimes when doing video playback.

Back up your data and try reproducing this as often as you can. That is, find out what causes this thing to happen and then do it repeatedly.

Hi again,
Experimented that when in power saving mode it will happen on lock screen. When power saving mode is off, it will happen during video or camera playing mode when fast selection between video clips is in action.
Most probably is software bug. I suppose hardware issue wont do this.

yeap, wish its just a software bug.
but no problem with my device like that now.
camera and video playing ok.
double checked with high quality videos...no problem at all
i realy dont want to give up on this thing...realy love the phone
btw hate dealing with service people

Hi,
Yea. They just try to ignore there is issue. Anyway, during normal playback is ok. When power saving mode is off, during haptic selection of video files to open sometimes can make that happen. Something like you trying to navigate and select video files in a fast manner. Waiting for official 4.1.2 update. Hope it can help.

[BUG] Camera Flash when turning off

Is anyone else's camera flash flashing 5-6 times when powering off? This happens right after the pink T-Mobile goodbye screen.
Turned mine off at least ten times now and no such report here.
Nothing here. Have turned mine off about 3 times since I received it earlier.
Last night my battery was very low when this started happening.
After a full night charge the phone boots down normally.
Mine flashed 1 time when I turned it off. I've only turned it off twice. I did it the 2nd time, because I thought I was seeing things.....now I know I wasn't imagining a lightning bolt in my hand;-(

WOW, 11 minutes later I turn the phone off........the LED on back flashes @ least 6 times!!!!! Sad part is I have no box or receipt to exchange
Has anyone gotten a guick camera flash when rebooting after using these files? I've seen it happen a few times now.

wrong topic.... some one already mentioned that in a separate topic, it's a bug or defective unit, you should exchange it for a good one
I spent quite a bit of time trying to find out what was causing the camera flash to happen after changing the files.
Reverting back to stock: can't duplicate camera flash on reboot/startup.
Using the international SGS2's bootup/shutdown: can duplicate random camera flash on reboot/startup.
It appears that the camera flash is being caused by trying to reboot the phone to quickly after shutting it down. The original T-mo shutdown is longer in length than the international version.
When I wait 3 seconds after the shutdown vibration occurs while using the international version I am not able to reproduce the camera flash.
My conclusion: User error. No exchange necessary.

Actually this isn't caused at all by user error, as one of my old units did exactly this. It was a problem with the unit. Only one of the 7 I've tried have done this. . .

Had this problem only once among my 30'ish number of shutdown's.
Thought I saw ghost or something...
no worries, it's probably just CIQ snapping some photos for their logs to match up with your GPS at the time of shutdown...
I've never had this problem. (I've had this phone for 2 days

Just recently flashed bombaridier, haven't had the camera flash do that yet on stock or bombaridier. Will keep an eye out for it though
I've been thinking this may be related to using a "flashlight" app (not app specific, possibly after using any flashlight app)
I never had this happen until I installed a flashlight app... I've noticed when you use the flashlight, after you turn the "flashlight" off, it will always flash one time.
Uninstall the flashlight app, reboot once, after that - anytime I shut down, no flashing.
Just a thought..
Im going to have to turn my wifes phone off now to make sure that hers is not doing this.

i'm on Jugger, never seen it yet
and i hope it remains that way
i'm pretty sure it must be a software bug
for the records, i do not use the stock SMS/MMS i have it frozen, because it sucks
i use Go SMS Pro, free, and has more feature than i can use, but has no use for them (that's a good thing )
Just witnessed this for the first time on my phone after having it for close to 3 months. I just flashed CWM for the first time on it a few minutes ago. Wonder if it's related? I'm guessing the consensus is to just ignore it?

[Q] different volume bug, same thing or broken phone

have i got the volume bug if my phone hangs and then reboots every time i touch volume up or down when the screen is on? Samsung insist that its the same thing and i need to wait for the update but i can't see anyone else describing that the problem causes a reboot, and my volume has never actually turned down on it's own as far as i can tell.
That sounds different altogether.

Thats what i suspect. Its just a pain to have been waiting for 4 days for something that probably wont fix anything and then to have to start the whole thing over again with samsung. O well

I'll give it a go. Im guessing they wont do a doorstep swap like i'd get from t mobile though. Hopefully i wont be without it for long. In our short time together i've grown quite attached to this phone (and almost got used to not touching the volume button)
Couple of questions (you may have already done these -apologies if you have)
Have you tried a factory reset? If not, maybe worth trying it, could be an app doing wierd things.
Also, try running a logcat trace when replicating the issue - see if it helps point in the direction of the issue.
Does the phone still crash when you're in the bootloader? (This _may_ help to rule out application related issues)
I have tried a factory reset. Weird thing is that im pretty sure that it didnt do it for the first few hours that i was playing with it. It was just at the point that i had it all set up that i first noticed it so assumed it was a rouge app and did a factory reset. When it rebooted i signed in and hit volume and it crashed so its definately not an app.
I almost believed that it was the normal volume bug because if i go somewhere more remote in the house, away from all electrical stuff, i can hammer at the buttons for a while before it crashes so maybe ive just got a more extreme version of the bug. Just noone else seems to have anything close. Volume control works fine in a call and when the screen is off but i havent tried in bootloader yet. I'll give it a go

Galaxy note 2 intermittently has white horizontal light flashes at bottom of screen

Hi all,
I bought 2 units of SGN2 recently and found out that sometimes during from sleep to awake or from lock screen to unlock screen, there is a line of white light flashes across my screen horizontally at the bottom just above the home button. To be sure on the problem, I had tried out 4 more units of SGN2. 2 from my friends and 2 from shops display units and they all having same symptoms. Had sent back to Samsung service center and they had my phone formatted and reloaded software. Also done a full factory reset but still not resolve. Does anyone else seeing this symptoms? Is this a software issue? by the way, my phone is not rooted and still using original stock rom 4.1.1 Jelly bean.
Please advice. ...
Thanks

Yes i have the same screen flashing problem sometimes when i unlock the screen and am usin ripple lock screen
Think its a software glitch cause lots of people r experiencing it
Should besolved in the next update
hi there,
yes, i had the same problem too. hopefully is a software glitch instead of a hardware problem. cause i found on the net one guy had this problem at first, then the problem became worst and it's a LCD problem. anyone tried switching off the ripple effect at the lockscreen and did the problem solved? thanks

wow, thought I was the only one experiencing this. Hope there's an update on this one. Will try calling Samsung about this.
Me too
Hi,
Had try not using the ripple effects. Its the same. However, I had raised this issue to Samsung and their service personnel replied to me that it was a software issue. Ask me to wait for next software update. Anyone who has this same issue should highlight to Samsung too. Hope there is a fast fixed.

Same here and it is not happening very often...
I'm facing the same issue and now it is happening very often... I believe they samsung need to do some thing about it..

Screen turning on by itself

When I press the power button on my phone and put it down (whether it be a few inches or a few feet away) it will turn itself on for no reason. I have installed various air-push detectors, I have tried cleaning the USB port (note this phone isn't even a month old in my hands) but nothing is working. If you know what's going on and or how to fix it let me know. I'll post updates if I get it fixed.
I've had that happen many times and even after running a logcat I've never figured out what caused it. Sometimes an app requesting su has been the culprit but most of the time I have no idea.
So you never fixed it? I'll try auto granting and using logcat

i disabled the alarm and as soon as i was going to say it might have worked, i turn my phone off and literally a second later it turned back on
well in that case you probably have to disable one app at a time and test for a day or so to figure out which one causes the wake up:banghead:
my screen on returned with the enabled tunein alarm option. i wrote them a support ticket and hope they will adress that issue as fast as possible.

Yep, it's an app causing the issue. AudioGuru used to do it to me (whenever it changed profile the screen would light up). Since the latest version it no longer does it

it is caused by an application. usually caused by live wallpapers. install dr.web antivirus scan, remove suspicious app. :good:

[Q] Screen does not turning off during a call

Hello everybody,
my girlfriend have an a Sony xperia s and for awhile when she having a phone call
and put the phone against her ear the screen does not turning off the buttons are been pressed
by her cheek, this causes a lot of embarrassment when the call is disconnected in the middle of an important call,
most of the time the button just pressed and the other side just hearing an annoying tone.
this is annoying and i don't know how to help her with that.
is there any good solution for this problem?
i tried to look for this problem in the search engine of this forum
and all i found was the same problem but in HTC phone that runs Windows Mobile, that didn't helping me...
thanks for anyone who can help me with that...
Try rebooting/resetting.
If problem persists then the proximity sensor may be faulty. Take it to Sony, coz it's a hardware problem.

Perhaps her phone is dirty, so the sensor won't work.. You know women, they don't care about technology.
Clean the screen left next to the Sony logo real good
My first opinion is hardware issue. It can be said that the proximity sensor is faulty. My second one is software. maybe she install a program that uses or control the proxomity switch that causes it to malfunction having a conflict with other programs. My third is that, as early as possible if its hardware issue, go now to sony service center for them to figure it out, use your warranty card, that may cause no additional problem right? Smile!
You could try re flash the firmware with flashtool

i think that maybe it is an hardware issue,
she don't installing any application just by her self, and she don't have many apps.
i know almost every app on her phone (cause i have them also on my SGS4) and i don't think that the apps are the problem.
but i will look for an app problem anyway just to be sure before using the warranty.
thank you guys...
UPDATE:
i've checked the phone sensor with the new app cpu-z and the app shows that the sensor is working and identifying my hand
when i covering it.
but still there is the problem that the screen does not turn off when she's holding the phone against her ear,
i've watched while she's talking in the phone and she's holding it as it should be.
but as i see the problem is not happening in every phone call but it is happening a lot.
any idea how to solve this problem?
