hey guys, sometimes when i'm playing music, it would start skipping or pausing at certain parts. Anyway this can be fixed? I tried both "Play music" and "rocket player". and the issue happens with both.
It does;t always happen, just rarely. I read online that the issue might be that the phone can't handle multi-tasking, but these issues happen when its locked as well as unlocked and my S3 handled it fine.
Is the music stored in a cheap/slow external SD card? That's all I can think of.

Are you using a different earphone?
I had this issue on my Sensation XE and I bought the LeBron James sporty Beats Audio earphone and would static and skip because it was made for Apple products.
Usually unplugging and plugging and solves it.
using a class-10 Sandisk 32gb microSD card. and using bose headphones, also different types of aux cables. one think i was wondering if Isyncr messed up the files slightly while transferring them over wifi.

Try using the original headphones of the Note 2 see if it does the same.

I have a Sprint Galaxy Nexus running CNA 3.4.1. I've only used the headphone jack maybe twice before to listen to music and everything worked just as it should. Recently however, i tried plugging in some regular headphones and when i played my music it came out the speakers. So i tried a few different headphones and some speakers and still the same problem. The little headphone icon that usually shows up in the status bar doesn't show up. I looked inside the 3.5mm jack and its clean, no lint, bent wires, anything. But no matter what i do i can't seem to get any headset to work. I'm forced to use my bluetooth adapter for my speakers.
This isn't a grave issue as i may rarely use headphones at all. But knowing that option isn't there anymore is just an inconvenience.
Any help appreciated. No rush. Just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem and knows how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Turns out after trying to play music through my bluetooth adapter it doesn't work. Bluetooth is connected, my speakers are hooked up, and the music is playing on my phone. Just no sound at all. This is a big deal! It's as if my phone won't play audio through anything but the internal speaker.
Again any help is appreciated.

Return to stock ROM to see if that fixes the problems. If not, it's likely a hw issue that headphones aren't detected.

I did that and still did not recognize it. Feels like my only option left is to open the phone and see if something was disconnected or get a new one.
Galaxy s3, wicked jb 5...i have an Audi TT with a Bose stereo. I replaced the cd changer aux in to a 3.5mm aux in module to play music directly from phone into stereo. For the most part it works fine...but on many songs, not all of the music comes through. So, for example, on songs with multi-layered guitar tracks, the lead is audible but the backing tracks are just GONE, or vice versa. I've tried every type of audio app, have replaced the aux in module and the problem remains. My stereo guy plugged his Note 2 in..and voila...you can hear all of the frequencies (and it sounded better in general). His gf's S3 seems to have the same issue. Do I need to ditch the S3?
She's on stock and it still didn't work?

Yeah, she's on stock.
Then hopefully someone steps in with some serious advice for you guy, I haven't a clue as to why the S III, and note II would be that different. I'm also not that much of a sound techy kinda guy.
I had a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO and I plugged my S3 into the jack - it worked beautifully!
Let me ask you something - does this only happen when you are playing your tunes on a separate player? (i.e. Player Pro) Have you tried firing up Slacker or Tune In Radio Pro and seeing how those sound with the plug in the car? Also, how do your tunes sound with your headphones plugged in?
If it were me working on this, the first thing I would try is checking the headphone jack. If that's working fine, the next thing I would do is play around with different players. There are tons of them in the Play Store, and many of them are free. I personally use Player Pro, and it hasn't let me down yet.
The S3 is a funny phone when it comes to sound. I've discovered that it won't let me use any bass enhancers (i.e. Beats Audio or Bass Booster) or EQ's on stock. When I try, the phone gives me a "not supported" message. (Yes, I am a world-class basshead) But if you're plugging it into your car stereo, you've already got the bass enhancers there. I would also check out better cords with gold-tipped male-male prongs (Radio Shack has one for about $15.00 and it was the best one I ever used) I would also check out the development section to see if one of our illustrious devs possibly made something to help the sound quality issue. As far as your tech's phone is concerned it more than likely has a somewhat different sound setup from an S3, which explains why his sounds awesome hooked up to your car.

thanks man, i appreciate your input.
Streaming radio sounds fine.
listening to music through headphones sounds fine.
I've tried to different jacks.
I've tried several free players.
All the options I figured you would try. Only thing I can say is to try the "audio enhancement mods"
T-Mobile SGS III

i've tried higher bit rate mp3's and flacs just to test this. No dice.
This sucks...guess i'll use my shattered screen epic 4g touch as an ipod. How disappointing.
Try a different aux cable. My Xperia s has trouble with friend's cable but works perfectly with mine.

Try cable with inline filter.

I have to admit i don't even know how to change the EQ settings with the stock player apps.
Has anyone else out there connected their M8 to their car using 3.5mm and noticed a strange whining and hissing noise prior to any actual audio being played?
The noise is very apparent, but as soon as you start some audio (Spotify/Deezer/Google/HTC player) its fine, and that includes any quiet bits in a song. Its when there is no audio being pushed out there seems to be this problem,
I havent noticed it on my headphones, but cant confirm as I left them in the office last week. Anyone else had a similar issue?
M8 is stock with latest updates for UK version.

Your cable must be loose or bad
Try a better shielded cable. Also, turn volume to max on the phone to get a better signal and adjust desired volume in the car.

I have tried several cables (one pro series) and it makes no difference.
I have only just upgraded to this phone a week ago from my Galaxy Note 3, which did not have any issues at all.

Are you charging your phone while it's connected?
Try it without power or with an external battery.

Unfortunately not, I would expect some interference if I had connected it to the 12V charger, but its just playing as a phone with only the audio lead connected, nothing else!
Most annoying is that you have to pay £240 more to BMW for audio bluetooth.... grrrrrrr

I am an installer at a car audio shop. We like to hardwire bluetooth audio adapters to the factory aux. Your local reputable shop should be able to do it in your bmw no problem. Use this part, as cheaper ones tend to have noise. This has fm mod which you will not be using, but has true analog out that they can hardwire to the back of your aux jack where nothing is seen. At my shop, I charge $100 labor and $100 for the part.

Yes on some occasions i have experienced the same noise.
Its not a cable issue as i have checked grounding, used several cables, and tested with other devices.
It also clears up on its on once you use an app to play music.
I use siriusxm, play music, and pandora..
I got my note 4 dev edition on Tuesday. I like to listen to podcast via pocketcasts and music through amazon prime music app, pandora and spotify. I notice at low levels there is an annoying hiss/ white noise that constantly is audible. I use these same apps on my iphone 6 plus and have never experienced this. I usually use yurbuds that direct the sound directly into the ears but it occurs with my old samsung earphones as well. (Verizon to cheap to allow them to include the earphones).
Is anyone else experiencing this? I tried to go into the play music app and use the equalizer but this had little affect. Is is an issue in 4.4.4 or could I have a bad phone or bad DAC??
I get the same problem as well with a Canadian Note 4 (N910W8). It's very annoying trying to listen to audiobooks or podcasts. Did not have this problem with the same audiobooks on Nexus 4. It seems like the hissing / static does not get louder by raising the volume so it's always present if volume is not muted and is very noticeable with spoken voice. Tried several players and it happens with all so it's not just Samsung Music with SoundAlive. I hope this is something that can be eventually improved and not "by design".

I thought that might have been the problem as well but it sounds exactly the same when plugged in or not. It sounds like hissing and a bit of crackling after spoken words or pauses between sentences, very noticeable even at only 1 volume step from muted. Probably happens to music, videos and games as well but may not be as noticeable.
I've tried stock, custom roms, volume mods and Viper4Android and tried different players that I know use different playback methods.
I don't think there's a quick fix for this problem and we'll probably all have to live with it. Here's hoping Samsung's Lollipop update brings improvements.
Weird. I dont get a hiss at all unless its plugged into a USB charger.
Might be a hardware issue.
Turns out that it's affecting all 3 of my Sennheiser headphones but not the stock headphones. Never had a problem with these headphones on any device I had within the last 7 years.
It has to do with the low impedance of my headphones and the fact that the Note does not provide enough power to drive the headphones correctly. I went and purchased a 36ohm impedance adapter on eBay (from awaudio) and it got rid of my problem! My remote control on the headphones no longer work with the adapter but the microphone does. I've also got a 14ohm adapter in the mail that I've yet to try so I cannot currently comment on using more or less than the 36ohm I've got now.
I found the idea to try this reading through long threads in the Galaxy S3 forums so this isn't a new problem to Samsung. Many people have exchanged their S3s to correct the problem to no avail. The good news is that the problem was eventually fixed in a firmware update so I guess it's possible for the Note 4 as well but I'm not holding my breath for that.
I believe that the sound may not be quite as strong with the adapter but the ROM I'm using has the sound boost mod and is more than loud enough so I cannot complain. There may not be an easy way to fix this on a Verizon device if you need the volume as loud as with the stock headphones.
Night and day difference when listening to audiobooks or podcasts with low impedance headphones.
Power might be the issue, but I know a lot of others dealt with this and replacing ended up working. I think on the n2 the headphone Jacks were a bit loose but don't remember
At the beginning of last week I got a new bluetooth headphones, worked great and far better than the old one. But then on Friday I started getting constant disconnection issues on my XL. Sometimes it will stay connected for an hour, sometimes it's barely a minute. I've noticed it seems to disconnect more regularly when watching youtube videos (Vanced, via Magisk) than when just listening to music through Play Music, but this might just be because I use youtube more than I listen to music.
I've tried using the headphones with my laptop and while I've not tried using them for a prolonged time, I've not had them disconnect on me, so I'm starting to point my finger at the phone. I'm trying to get hold of my old headphones so I can test with those as well, but I'm definitely thinking it's a problem with my phone. I even tried loading on a new factory image and starting from scratch to try and write off a software issue, but the issue has persisted. My main question is why on earth it just started happening one day. I don't think I dropped my phone or did anything else that would cause it to start disconnecting like this. If anyone has any suggestions I'm more than open to trying things that can help fix this.
Thanks!

Wow that's a bit extreme for a Bluetooth fix. Maybe your headphones you got just don't work well with the Pixel 2 XL. Are you moving around with the headphones and is the phone far when this happens? Maybe it's Vanced and try comparing with regular YouTube app? Do you use other Bluetooth devices and are those having issues as well?

Well, I just fished out my old headphones, and they are unusable. youtube and play music are both extremely stuttery, though it doesn't seem to be losing connection. This has all been with the headphones less than 1m from the phone, both for the old and new ones, and using local music so it's nothing to do with streaming either. It's a little strange that they exhibit such a different symptom to the other headphones, though the old ones were some cheap unbranded ebay job from china of dubious quality and unknown bluetooth version while the new ones are actual branded ones, and bluetooth 4.0
And yeah, pretty extreme, but I'd been messing around a little in my root explorer and trying to get something unrelated working. I didn't think anything I'd done would have anything to do with bluetooth, but figured it was better to nuke'n'pave to rule that out as well.

Unfortunately, no, just the two sets of headphones. I do have a laptop though, but I have no idea if it's possible to connect a phone to a laptop and use the laptop as a speaker for the phone.
