1.Run the right ruu for your Rom
Then write in the search bar %temp%
It'll give you a folder called Temp go into it
2.search that Temp folder for the word rom
3.it will get you a Rom.zip file,grab that file but don't unzip it..
When you install the kitchen there us a folder called place Rom here...so put that Rom you extracted in that folder then use the kitchen

Update: found the kitchen and big thx *****, just what ive needed. Dont like those custom roms...
That search bar on windows when you click that windows logo on the down left of the screen...btw to use the kitchen you have to also install cygwin,I've made a tutorial,search on google how to make your own Rom and write my username it'll give you the thread u made

I have extract this rom to the destination folder specified and endeavoru shows up within tools\edify_ . Is this correct.

hello guys,
I've written a tool to find the newest exe- and dll-files by comparing different roms... but to use it, I've to extract the rom-files. I can use nbhextract to extract the nbh-file, but I can't use the perl-scripts for extracting the nb-files (the command in the wiki doesn't work with the ActiveState-versions you can download at the moment).
Is there any way to extract the nb-files without using the perlscripts?

but there ist still one question... some file are not "realy" dumped... there are folder with the filename and in those folder are some binary files... can you tell me how to get the real files from that?

ok that means you need to convert the "modules" / folders into files, there are a couple of apps out that do that quiet well. Basically that app is the S000 file, cant think of the application off my head though, sorry
Not that i have any use for now but how do you chef do to extract such and such exe or image from a rom and cook it into your own?
I'd like to start and do my own simply because I'd like to be able to customize my own and also learn how you do it...
Can anyone point out to me some tuts or where to start?

Hi guys sorry for the noob question:
I open the exe and search in my PC the Temp folder where the content is temporaly extracted and see a "rom.zip" file.
When I open inside exist:
android-info.txt
boot.img
hboot_7225_0.52.0001_090922.nb0
radio.img
recovery.img
splash1_Tattoo_320x240.nb0
system.img
userdata.img
How can I open the img files to access the files and graphics inside? before in others hero files I just open using 7zip but now i can´t open using this method.
PS:why the userdata.img only is 3kb?
So I think it'll be safe to assume that we can't just flash this ROM to the Hero, even with a Nandroid backup?
Correct, it won't work on a hero in its un modified format. Wait for a chef to cook it up for the hero.

Sorry I dont know nothing about Android, I use the extracted files from hero build for made a ThrottleLauncher theme, now I want to update the theme a skin other apps (like FM Radio, Wm Taskbar, etc) using the files from a Tatoo rom.
So, please, anybody can post the extracted apps from inside of system.img

The keyboard on the tattoo looks nice - hopefully it'll be possible to extract it from the tattoo and cook it into a hero rom
I cant seem to find how to cook GSM Hero rom. i google thru only found for CDMA Hero.

As far as using other people's ROMs, there's no reason you can't use them for your own personal use, and as far as distributing them, I'm sure the original cooks would be fine as long as you give credit where credit is due. Of course I'd ask permission first, but I doubt anyone here would have much of a problem with it.

Hello, atlast after 3days of download and work i have made a custom Rom that has my name on it with HTC Desire HD stuff and updates but now what i need to ask is :
1) how can i put my name Rom name in the Notification like RCMix or the others?
2) any easy way to make boot screens or animations or so found but that i can edit or anything?
3) any way to make a custem theme there is only the online thing and sadly i dont knw how to use it or its limited, i want like AuraxTSense is it possible?
4) if i have a update.zip file that has in it an .apk can i take it and add it to the app section and it will work normaly?

To add your own version number, open the build.prop file and add it to the end of the 'Software version' line
To build themes from scratch, I believe that you'd have to rip apart the res-framework.apk.

this part i solved it in the kitchen but i mean when u drag the notification bar from top to bottom u will get RCMix or any other name i want to cutemiz it to my name

If you change the .apk to .rar you can extract and see some jpegs and whatnot in their folders. This should be the one to edit.
Then again, these are the things I've picked up from the chatter between the more senior and tech-savvy.

there is no jpegs only .png and not what i want and what u gave me doesnt have anything to do with themes i have no idea why its themepro.... anyways ill look more into it but if there is something starigh to the point or video im thankfull im still searching
