Wifi stopped working. Suggestions?

Recently I've noticed my wifi doesn't connect to any of my normal networks. When I check my wireless setttings, it'll say "connecting" but not to any specific network. Then just says disconnected. Finally, it'll say out of range for all my networks. I haven't done anything major with my phone, just small things like downloaded GO Launcher and played with icons and themes. Any ideas on what I can try or what it might be? Thanks.

I'm currently using the Tiamat-sbc kernel. But I'm pretty sure I haven't touched that kernel because it was working fine a while back. As for the router, it can't be a router problem. I have issues connecting to other networks as well. Should I clear my delvik cache?

I am having this very same problem. For the longest time I was sharing my internet connection from my iMac(mac acts as hot spot). But recently purchased a real wireless router. The problem is my phone connects for awhile then it quits working, it shows its still connected. But doesn't work. I am running Cyanogen mod 7 nightly latest with stock kernel. Anyone have a fix for this? I am thinking about re-flashing the radios.

It is random. I could be browsing the internet and click on a link and it just sits there. Other times I could use it upwards of an hour without problems.

On the same network??? Sorry I'm just trying to help and get a gauge of the issue

The first wifi network I had it on was just my iMac acting as a hot spot and it had the problem. My new network has the same problem:
the iMac hot spot was an open network no security. The new network is WPA/WPA2 PSK.
Wired Router Cisco RVS4000
Wireless Router Cisco WRVS4400N
Modem Motorola SB6120 (same modem as last network)
I connect my phone to the wireless and open a page up it may or may not open it is completely random. My dads Nexus S 4G has no problems nor does his Kindle Fire.
please give me any details of what you need so that you can help me?

Well I would recommend a full clean wipe everything except sdcard 3x put on a new Rom then let it settle but since I can't recreate the issue hard to say mayhaps a radio issue have you updated recently if so downgrade back to working radios

No I didn't flash the radios recently it was back when the latest version came out 9-5-11 EVO_Radio_2.15.00.08.08_WiMAX_27243_PRI_NV_2.15_00 3. Should I downgrade? any settings on my wifi router i should look at?

I'm not used to home routers lol but again try from a clean slate if you want router help lol I only know Cisco cli for their big boy networking solutions haha

Its a cisco small business with all the bells and whistles

Haha nice never played with their WiFi but i assume its about the same did you set up through console with hyperterminal

I had the same problem when I would use the CM7 nightly builds. My WIFI would work, all of a sudden, it just won't connect to any network. THEN...out of no where, it connects...a couple days later...The only way to fix is to use a stable build lol...I just remembered...try enabling airplane mode and then disable it again...

Stock News and Weather App not able to connect

Installed this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763823) on to my GNex... but my News and Weather App is not working. It worked earlier today, but right now, it just says 'network problem' and sits there doing nothing.
Not a big deal, but I enjoyed the app for its aethetics, and am curious to know if the ROM had anything to do with it? Anyone else have this issue?

I'm on all stock and its reporting the same thing on my GN and Nexus S (all stock). Seems to be an actual network problem.

Roger that. Just checking to see if it was isolated to my phone or not. Hopefully it's back to working soon.

Make sure that your data is enabled and you are not using Wi-Fi.

I don't think its your ROM. I'm in the fantastically crappy Droid x2 and my stock news and weather app just stopped working yesterday.

The app works just fine over wifi. There is an issue with the server atm though.

Normally it does, but this issue seems to be somehow WiFi related. Turn off WiFi and the issue resolves itself, connects to the server and updates.

Didn't work for me (on AT&T HSPA+). In looking around through various forums, it seems to be on several devices so waiting will be the only solution

At first I thought it could be a problem with the built in Gapps of the ROM OP installed...but I just got the same error on CM10. Also waiting for an answer

Was just gonna create a thread asking same thing. Both my Wife and I having issues with the stock News & Weather Widget. Mainly Weather being broken, and today News not working.

I can connect 100% of the time on AT&T network, 0% on Home Network (Charter is my ISP) I wonder if it's a DNS issue?

Verizon galaxy nexus has the same issue from yesterday. Wifi on is working but 3 or 4g is showing network problem.

It's obviously a server-side problem. Nothing we can do about that.

I removed the widget and replaced it with HD widget, looks better and it works.

I have connection, I can go online, on facebook, everything is fine but I keep getting this notification (Wifi and 4G bars are both Blue) I used it without wifi, same error. Any suggestions?

It is a Google problem. The server has a problem, thus creating this problem for us. I bet it'll be gone on no time

Started happening to me just a couple of hours ago.... probably a temporary server side issue.

Ditto. I long pressed the notification to be sure it's coming from the OS and it is. Then I force stopped the Google Services Framework.

Same here. Happened right after I flashed the sprint radio update... I was like how the hell could this be happening if I'm on wifi haha. Hopefully it'll be gone in the morning.

Seems like a common problem with a lot of guys. Must be a google issue. Facing the same from a few hours back. Hopefully should be resolved soon.

It seems to only be affecting devices running Jelly Bean, and more specifically Google Now.

I thought it was an something wrong w paranoid android so I restored my aosp ROM without backing up, dammit. It sucks but good to hear other ppl are getting this error too.

I just thought I am the only one who have this problem on nexus, good that I'm not only one with this problem...
I rebooted my nexus and did force close to the Google account app and then cleared data of it but its not my Nexus's problem so now I have to wait when Google fixes it...

Good call. Google Now is down.

It a good thing I checked here almost flashed a different rom. I thought it was a problem with my rom but its not since everyone is having the same problem.

Yeah I'm all good also. I flashed to two different roms but I found out it wasn't the roms it was the google servers + jellybean I guess, thanks for confirmation.

my one x is one jelly bean. Running great. My wife's phone is a S2 Samsung. Her WiFi speed is very very slow. If I shut down the WiFi on my hox then her speed is back. No I flash my hox back to ics en both phones are very speedy. What can I do. Want to have jb.

Try a different kernel maybe? It sounds like a router issue to be honest.

if you are experiencing random wifi going off probably because of smartsync search how to disable it, otherwise could be kernel

If I turn the jb WiFi on on my hox.then the phone of my wife and daughter, wife s2 doughter desire hd are very slow. I go back to ics and problem solved.

Maybe you're using "Best wifi performance" in advanced options (it makes your signal reception better) and like Jamekerr mentioned above it can be router issue (poor signal performance when many devices are connected). If that so you need to buy better antenna for your router. I don't believe it's a kernel/rom issue.

Router is okay. Sometimes connect with 8 users or devices, no problem. But if I start the jb phone al the device's have problems. But the jb not

I noticed a new option in JB: Menu>Advanced>WiFi frequency band. Try changing it to see if it helps.
A long shot but worth a try
I also read that turning on best performance may help the issue, contrary to common sense but again, worth trying.

Test it again. When a turn WiFi on. Everything slow down. On ics no problem. Strange

OMFG my friend! I have the exact same problem. NOt exact but since update to Jelly Beans, whenever my phone is connected to Wifi, the internet connection is COMPLETELY LOST 90% of the time.
I own a Zenbook Prime and from ur post that I realized the computer wifi is fine and all the problems started when I upgraded to Jelly Beans. Since then, I have to switch my Modem from MIXED (B/G/N) mode to B MODE Only.
Now I turned off Wifi on HOX and Wifi (Mixed mode) is working perfectly!!!!!!
Finally found the reason!!!!!
Hope they find a fix soon!
So glad that I'm not the only one having the current problem (and also the proximity sensor problem)

Wifi/Advanced/ Wifi Freq
Change Auto -> 2.4GHZ and see if it helps!

WiFi Tether for Sprint Galaxy Nexus?

Is there a working WiFi Tether option for the Sprint GeNex running JB 4.1.1 , OTHER than paying $30 per month to Sprint to unlock WiFi Hotspot? I have looked around and cannot find a solid solution or answer with regard to this.
WiFi Tether does not work in any iteration I have found, including the TrevE Mod (for Galaxy SIII). Open Garden doesn't work and FoxFi doesn't work rooted or un-rooted.
I have heard of ROMs that include functioning WiFi hotspots, but do they work with Sprint? I really don't want to ROM because I am happy with stock JB, and, frankly, my Nexus running stock JB, rooted, with Juice defender, gets amazing battery life that I was NOT getting from AOKP with Franco Kernel. But, if I need to go custom to get WiFi Tether, I will.

I have it. It doesn't work. Ad-hoc and all other mentioned functions do not work. Either Sprint has found a way to block all third party tethering apps, or no one has written a tethering program that works with Sprint. I have tried every variation I could find, including the one tailored to the Sprint Galaxy SIII because it has Samsung specific drivers. No luck. Unless someone has something I haven't tried before, or has the "Work around for Sprint Wifi tether blocking" app, I will have to live with out, or pay $30 a month to Sprint.

So I tried it again for easily the 5th or 6th time. I changed nothing about how I did it, just installed and set the profile to Galaxy Nexus. But NOW it works.
You do realize it only worked because you rolled your eyes at me. (by the way, is that exasperation or flirting, because, I'm married . ).
Anyway, thanks! I probably wouldn't have tried it again.

I'm glad. Thanks again. I wish I knew why it would let the ad-hoc connection and other functions didn't work before, but it's working now, so I'm happy.

I'm running the latest Paranoid Android 2.99, but have seen some issues with sprint wifi tether recently. Right now, it seems it only works on 4G. 3G data is immediately killed when I turn on wifi tether. I have the GA02 radios.

Found a solution.
I recently picked up a Sprint GNEX and put it at the latest stock 4.2.1 and rooted so I could tether (even though I have awful 3G and little-to-no LTE in my area). Spent a lot of time looking for a fix as the app wasn't working right for me, to tether, and couldn't find a way to get it working. Web searching the errors I was getting I tracked down this thread. There is a custom version there that works on our phones, with the right settings, start at post #109.
Sorry I'm sure this has already been discussed / linked / hosted on XDA, etc, but I couldn't find it in my search until I went outside XDA, so posting again here in case someone like me is looking in this thread. The app from Google Play does not work, this custom version is the only one that did the trick for me running stock 4.2.1.
