I keep getting "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped" over and over and over. This happens no matter what I am doing and first thing when I reboot the phone.
I also keep getting Unfortunately Play Store has Stopped.
Every time I start the Play Store I get on of those 2 errors so I can't launch the Play store at all.
Phone has been fine for weeks and then all of sudden this started today. No new app, it just came out of nowhere.
I have 2 HTC One V's both are running CM9. Both were set up weeks ago and both were done exactly the same way. Mine is fine, the wife's is having that issue.
I have tried disabling sync. Removing and re-adding my account. Clearing the cache. Fixing permissions. Removing a few apps. Some other minor things I don't recall. Nothing helps.
Any ideas?
Re install the Rom,or do a factory reset...but its better to reflash the Rom
It'll fix the errors I guess

Thank you for your help , however I was hoping there was a solution short of doing a full wipe. Is there nothing else I can try?
And more importantly what caused this and what is to stop it from coming back after a wipe? I don't want to go through all that just to have to do it again next week.
...Ok, well I have re-installed the OS and then re-installed/set up all my apps and settings.
So far so good. Hopefully the issue won't come back.

I know this has been ran into the ground on other phone forums but they're dead threads, no sense reviving them.
On CM7 I randomly starting having the 'starting download' issue where it never actually starts the download. I've literally done everything I can think of:
Clear cache
clear data
force stop
reinstall gapps
fix permissions
reboot
re-flash the ROM
Now for some reason it keeps downloading and installing an 'update' which is just 2.3.4 - same one I already have, uninstalling that helped but only for a couple of downloads. Next time I pulled it back up the Market had DL'd the update again and I'm back to square one except uninstalling it doesn't help.
Any new suggestions? Maybe we can try to solve this issue once and for all.
I was running cm-10.2.1 and last night I installed CyanogenMod updates cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2 and cm-11-20140210-SNAPSHOT-M3. Several of my apps either quit working or disappeared. When I clicked on Play Store to try and re-install the apps, I got a message of "No Connection". Searched the problem and several people said to delete the Google Account and re-install it. After deleting it, the phone will not let me recreate it. When I click on Add Account and then the Google symbol, nothing happens.
Is there solution to fix this? if not, can I just re-install 10.2.1 and fix it?
My phone is an AT&T SGS3.
Thanks,
retnuh
Re-flash GApps, that has happened to me before, and this is what fixed it.
As LittlePalmTree stated, sounds like you need to reflash GAPPS. Make sure you grab the one compatible with cm11. cm11 is android 4.4 where as cm10.2 was 4.3 if I am not mistaken.
Thanks for the help. I tried to re-flash the gapps after reading the first reply but before reading the second reply. You guessed it. I did it wrong. The phone would not get past the spinning circle screen. Ended up using CWM to re-flashing the rom stored on my phone and also re-flashing the gapps stored on my phone. So, I'm back to version 10.2.0, but at least my phone is working again. While I would like to update, I'm afraid I will mess my phone up again.
Thank you for both of your replies.
Googled the problem and found a few solutions from the simple - force stop/clear cache - up to full factory resets.
Different things seemed to work for different people.
Tried the force stop/clear cache and check time/date is correct (which causes some people problems.
Then I tried removing my Google account and adding it in again. However, it wouldn't let me do that until I re-flashed GAPPS. Did that and it all works fine now.
I have been seeing these bunch of errors (screenshots) at every re-start for the past couple of days. I am running Viper Rom version 2.5.
I tried to run the GPE rom as well but i get the same errors on that rom as well. Not sure what the issue is but nothing is broken apart from the weather app/widget not able to find the current location. It just shows 'current location' instead of the actual location. But this does not affect the Maps at all, it pin points my exact location on the Map.
Can anybody help with this?
Sounds like a dirty flash, did you do a factory reset? A factory reset should fix that.

Yes i did a reset and clean flash. Still has the same issues.
I'm having the same issue on viper 2.5. Never had problems before. I even followed steps to convert play store from user to system app and downgraded play services to the latest 5 version, in which everything works well, cleared data/cache/defaults, uninstalled and reinstalled market. But every time I reboot it updates to version 6 and the problems begin. I even used disable services app to prevent it from updating, but still happens. Any help would be appreciated. (Forgot to mention that all apps work well but with constant error pop-ups)
Glad you wrote this. Been having same problem a UK rom debranded m8. I get the same errors restart but google play is popping up saying there's been a problem followed by a goggle services popup. I narrowed it down to either news and weather app or me just getting a new car and syncing with it. Filling in a zip code made the errors less. Still annoying as hell. Either latest google play update borked things or news and weather is causing a big fluke like it has several times in the past.
Good morning! Alright. So. All I've done to my phone was Root it and get Xposed on it. Everything was completely fine until last night. Now, whenever I try to download anything from the Playstore, it just gets stuck on "Downloading". I've tried wiping its cache, its data, force closing it, reinstalling the update. Nothing seems to solve this issue. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue on this phone, and how they resolved it? I can't even update my applications, and I didn't even get a chance to Update my Phone, but now when I try to Scan for Updates, it just gets stuck searching :/
This happened to me at first. What worked for me for a couple days was to toggle airplane mode. Then, it started getting stuck again. So, I downloaded Beans GAPPS, and extracted Google Play services and Play Store.apk, and that seems to be working. Keep in mind, that not everything is going to work smoothly. If none of this works, look for the .apk and move it to your device and install it that way. Hope that helps, bud.
I tried Googling Beans GApps, but it seems like they haven't been updated in about a year. Or am I looking in the wrong places?
This has also been my problem since getting a pixel 2 xl almost a month ago. In fact, I wanted to make a thread about my issue earlier but I'm just too lazy! The only thing I did at first was to unlock the bootloader.
Now, I am completely stock without even root but my playstore downloads are stuck in "downloading" and usually the download starts after being stuck in this phase with about 15-30 minutes delay (which could even be hours before my download is finally started, so it's random). The funny thing is playstore lists my device certification status as "uncertified" in the settings. I have tried clearing cache+data of play services+play store+removing/adding my Google account. I also did a fresh and clean install of the May security update rom but all to no avail. I remember reading in another thread that Google may impose a 7 day lock or something for your Google account in these instances so at this point I am just waiting it out (only 3-4 more days remaining) to see if my problem goes away by itself, otherwise, I am pretty clueless as to what I should do next.
Hi,
since abut 3 or 4 weeks I've more and more problems with my Z2. I'm on stock 8.0.0, not branded, pure Moto. One of my problems is, that Play Store updates get downloaded but then do not install. When I reboot my phone the app update which got previously downloaded installs and the the process got stuck again. Some time suddenly two or tree apps get updated. The the problem starts over. I've tried every thing I've found e.g. clearing Play caches etc. nothing helped.
Edit: a closer look showed that the download hangs at the last few bytes but some times it downloads to 100% but just does not install.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Try stopping the play services and store app, clear data and cache, then try again. If that doesn't see if the issue is with wifi or data, switch one or the other off then try updating or installing an app, see if the problem is connection specific. You can also try clearing the phone cache from storage as well. I know these are trivial suggestions, but it never hurts to double check. Might clear your storage cache and check the permissions as well.

Thanks. Tried all this already. May be it's liked to my WiFi problem as it seems to be "better" now. If the problem persists I think I will try to factory reset it ...
