Hi
I installed the stock Google calendar app from google play, on my Note 2
the default calendar app remained there
both use my google account
so the result is that I get duplicated notifications for every event I place in my calendar
anyone knows of a workaround (not involving uninstalling the google app) ?
thanks !

Turn off notifications for one of the apps.
Both S Planner and Google Calendar have the option in their settings menus.

hey, that was easy! cheers Dave many thanks
I was expecting a trick to stop S Planner completely from running, thereby saving system resources.

I did that but every time I reboot my phone, both app's settings get reset back to default. So I ended up going into setting and turning one off. Does this happen to you too?
This also happens for default app selections too... Once I reboot it forgets my selection and I keep having to reselecting default app for everything.

Have you tried disabling S Planner using Application Manager?

I need to know how to roll back or undo the newest Gmail update. It's screwing up notification stuff I have for Gmail. I had a widget to show me unread emails (SMS Unread count) but now it keeps force closing if I try to make a widget for Gmail. I know its not an issue with the SMS Unread conut app because it works fine for making widgets for phone calls and text messages. Also, with the latest Gmail update, GoLauncher no longer shows me unread count in the dock, even though the setting is checked to do so.

It's already there. Once you uninstall the update, the old version will be there. You may need to reboot.
Is this due to the latest G-Mail app locking the mail database to outside apps? I just ran into this as well and had to uninstall the update too.

Once I change .zip to .bin it shows up fine
thanks. unfortunately that option isn't available. seems i'll be stuck with this until gmal releases another update.
Hi XDA Developers Community!
Recently I noticed calendar notification settings (of both S Calendar and Google Calendar app) cleared upon power off of my Samsung Galaxy SIII. I'm trying to turn off all S Calendar notifications while leaving on all Google Calendar notifications (prefer this app).
Main questions:
-Has anyone else experienced this?
-Does anyone know if S Calendar and Google Calendar notification settings are tied to one another?
Samsung technical support is suggesting a factory reset**. As I want to avoid a hard reset, I tried to troubleshoot on my own and noted the below scenario highlighting notification setting status of both S Calendar and Google Calendar before/after power off:
S Calendar:
Before powering down/or resetting Galaxy SIII:
>Settings
Under "Event notification"
>Set alerts & notifications
>"Off" (radio button selected)
After powering down/or resetting Galaxy SIII:
>Settings
Under "Event notification"
>Set alerts & notifications
>"Status bar notification" (radio button selected)
Google Calendar app
Before powering down/or resetting Galaxy SIII:
>Settings
>General settings
Under "Reminder settings"
>Notifications (checked)
>Pop-up notification (checked)
After powering down/or resetting Galaxy SIII:
>Settings
>General settings
Under "Reminder settings"
>Notifications (unchecked)
>Pop-up notification (unchecked)
Click to collapse
Would appreciate if anyone has any insight into this!
**After contacting Samsung technical support, this is what I was told:
-Tech support initially said that it has to do with removing the battery and said that Google Calendar + S Calendar notification settings are linked to one another.
-(After telling tech support it happened w/o removing the battery and just powering off), technician rescinded original statement
-Then said, should not be happening and suggested a factory reset.
Thanks,

Same problem here.
Identical as written above, but :
After powering down/or resetting Galaxy SII:
Google calendar:
>Settings
>General settings
Under "Reminder settings"
>Notifications (checked) typo?
>Pop-up notification (unchecked)
S Calendar:
Notifications sounds are reset to "On time" sound after a reboot.
Google calendar:
The notification sound is unchanged.
But after a second reboot the Google Calendar sound has set itself the same as the S Calendar ("On time").
so, after each reboot/power off:
S Calendar:
I should manually set the status bar notifications to off to prevent double view in the status view.
Google Calendar:
I have to redo my sound settings because Google calendar takes over the S Calendar settings.
My Google calendar Status bar notifications looks like off but they appear on the staus bar.
I do not change/check them.
Huib
Huib, so it seems like it's not an isolated issue to my device and a factory reset may not be the solution. May just be the interference between S Calendar and Google Calendar perhaps? I wonder if deleting/reinstalling Google Calendar might help the cause.
It's just a hassle to turn off notifications on S Calendar after a reboot. I have multiple batteries so usually after recharging one, I'll switch to another...

I already did a delete/reinstall. no difference.
After that had some problems with sync settings: S calendar was empty. But maybe I should have waited.
Played with the sync settings, reinstalled Google but do not remember what I did to make it working again.
So, sound settings not solved.
It must have to do with the samsung/google combi.
Strange that there are few complaints.

I will have to see if my sounds are effected--to date, have not noticed it. Hopefully others will see this thread and contribute their experiences!

I have the same issue here. I hoped the JB 4.1 update would fix, but it didn't. I did factory reset, and that didn't fix it either.
* Samsung Galaxy S3 on Sprint
Any news on this ? I have the same problem and it is annoying.
New version of Google Calendar didn't solve it eiher.
Same exact issue here. I have the Sprint Galaxy S III with Jelly Bean and both S Calendar and Google Calendar installed. Hopefully Samsung or Google will address this in a future update.
I'm seeing the exact same issue here on an I9300.
The google calendar/S Planner "default reminder time" changes from "off" to "15 mins" every time I reboot the phone.
Does anyone have solution yet?
International I9300 and stock 4.1.2 NEE here and annoyed with the same problem. If anyone finds a solution please write it here or to the International I9300 forum. I'm mostly interested in finding a way to prevent duplicates in notifications. I have found out that my 'Show week numbers' setting in Google Calendar gets reset to unticked after a reboot.
Anyone tried to disable Samsung Calendar altogether?

SCH-i535 Same issue. I assumed it was S-Cal and froze it, but the Google Calendar still resets on a reboot. I don't get it!!!
Discovered the problem today on my official 4.1.2 S2 and the only way to avoid duplicate notifications is go to application manager --> "All" tab --> S planner and uncheck the option show notifications. Thus, even if notification settings are active again after every reboot, they won't show up.
But the problem with the settings on google calendar after reboot, still remains unsolved...I am afraid (didnt try) that disabling SPlanner will cause Google calendar to malfunction as well as it is obvious that they are strongly tied together. Same thing happens (tried it) if you disable sync on SPlanner calendars - Google calendars do not get synced as well...
I am pretty sure that the problem exists on all S3/S2 stock JB users but it's not on the talk, since noone cares about such things, including Google or Samsung to opt for a solution in a future update...
Pfff,
So no use to upgrade my Galaxy S2 from JB.
The strangest thing is, that we seem to be the only in the world.
Same issue on my Sprint SIII, haven't been able to find a solution.
I'm experiencing this problem as well.
After reboot setting in both google calendar and s planner are being reset to defaults.
One setting that was not mentioned here is 'first day of the week', is also being reset.

My only solution on the Galaxy 2 was removing googles calendar .
Now a restart does not change anything.
I can live with it.

Yep, the only "solution" As you cannot remove S Planner.

What's the advantage of using s planner over other calendar apps?

Solved!
Today I flashed my S2 with a newer stock JB, moving from LSD to LSW.
Happily I discovered that after 2 restarts, all notifications settings I chose on both calendar apps remained intact so like the thread author, I unchecked all S Planner notification settings and now fully use google calendar which I prefer too.
Have a nice weekend everybody
I have to disable notifications on the Facebook app at least one a day. Sometime after disabling it, I will get a Facebook notification. I open the app up and sure enough notifications are turned back on. Does this happen to anybody else? Any way to stop it other than removing the app?

Do you have auto sync turned on for Facebook?
In the Facebook app i have unchecked sync. I don't even have it stop in my accounts.
I get no FB notifications, and everything is turned on. I have gone as far as trying the BB trick, and it did not help. Been trying to solve this for days.
The Facebook app for Android has ALWAYS been a piece of @#$%. I've had the settings change on me as well, or randomly the contact sync screen would open when I click on the app. I'd try clearing the app data and then making your choices again. I also noticed that even though I have the refresh set to never, my messages still come through immediately as well.
I may just completely remove it and install Friends caster.

I have a rooted Note 2 running 4.1,2 and just installed 'Box' from box.com. When I get a notification that I have new Gmail email, I'm presented with a choice of whether I want to open it with Gmail or Box. If I select Gmail, and select Gmail as the default, the Note 2 just reboots. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I disassociate Box from Gmail completely?
Thanks in advance.
Go to Settings and clear defaults and cache. When installing cloud application don't let it to take over your mail and any other stuff.

I do have both applications running on my system, and Gmail as default, and it is certainly not rebooting.
Are both Gmail and Box.net apps up to date?
Tried all the above - thanks. Eventually fixed by telling Box not to keep me logged in.

I had exactly the same problem. I eventually solved it by telling box not to allow uploading from other apps but that isn't really good enough because I do use it to upload from other apps.
Anyone else having issue with Facebook notifications?
Every other app works fine - Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn..etc.
I checked my app settings and notification settings within Android and everything seems to be in order. Even re-installed the Facebook app and still no dice.
When I open the app I see I have notifications, however my phone isn't notifying me of anything related to Facebook. I have open the app to see the notifications within the app.
Anyone else having the same problem?
I am on Pixel 2 XL 8.1 stock.

No, it is active.
Having the same issue. Also there are times the app doesn't recognize that the phone is connected to WiFi. The app continues to update the feed, but the videos won't auto play until I turn off WiFi then back on.
Have you ever cleared the cache and data under the Google Framework Services trying to push the OTA update? It is said that would break GCM things.
