I tried a search but didn't find much of any relevance to my Arc's problem.
My Arc was getting quite laggy so I decided to wipe and put a custom ROM on. I rooted, then unlocked the bootloader and managed to put on CWM using DoomLord's kernel. Everything fine up until here.
Then, mistakenly, I tried to put stable CM7 on without updating the stock ROM. I was still on 3.0 (2.3.3) something. Well, after that it got stuck in a boot loop with the SE and CM7 logos just coming up and restarting.
I then tried the Flashtool with a stock uptodate 4.0 something firmware. It flashed successfully, but it still was stuck in the loop, albeit now without the CM7 logo. I then tried the FTA unbricking tool for repairing the trim area but it still stayed in the boot loop.
What else can I do? Maybe there is a driver problem and that is why even after using Flashtool it still doesn't boot?
I would be very grateful if someone could help me on this.
You have to flash FXP's kernel and not DooMKernel.
But I also tried to flash a stock rom and that didn't work also.
EDIT: I flashed stock ROM again, still didn't boot. Installed DoomLord kernel and then arconium and it still doesn't boot.
EDIT 2: In CWM Recovery if I try to wipe data, it says this:
"E:format_volume: no MTD partition "userdata"
Has anyone got a fix for this?
It would be much appreciated.
can you charge your phone now?
Yep, I can charge the phone.
it means your kernel is still working....
then have it fully charged, then try to flashing again.
some tips:
1. always have latest flashtools
2. always have your phone fully charged b4 flashing.
3. proceed flashing carefully. if u miss one thing, then trouble come.
4. have cache and dalvik cache cleaned after flashing a kernel or Rom.
good luck mate...

No luck with previous firmwares so I'll try to flash the latest .62 stock ROM and then see.
I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks!
Well lads, I managed to get it working by flashing the LT18i firmware (4.0.2.A.0.42_CE). Now I just need to go back to the drawing board and try to get CM7 on there.
Thanks for all the help! I'll update this thread with any experiences.
I've managed to do it. Installed latest .62 firmware, flashed CM7 kernel, flashed 7.2 ROM and then GAPPS.
I don't know why it took me two days to bring the phone back from the dead.

could you be so kind to give some details how you fix it
thank you very much

I followed the instructions too, though they are not so much noob-friendly (and neither are the people on the forums, it seems...). FXP is not responding (actually, they rarely respond to anything, they usually just post when new release is out), other people either don't know how to fix it, because they haven't experienced such issues, or they are just hostile because you're "a an annoying noob". Anyway... first time after trying to flash 64 baseband on 107 or 106 release, I got stuck on logo, then flashed back to .42 and it worked. Now, while updating to 108, I tried to flash the 64 libraries and patch, but it didn't work. Got back to .42, but this time nothing happened. Still stuck on logo. And when I try to restore data, it says:
E:format_volume: no MTD partition "userdata"
Error while formatting /data!
I think I'll go back to stock... love CM, but hate the poor/no help of the developers...
try these
flash new firmware using flashtool.
after flash.turn on your device.
enable uknown source n usb debug
then turn off your fon
flash baseband 64
then turn on your fon
put fxp108 updated-kang,gaps,baseband 64 libs on your memory card,
then turn off your fon
flash fxp kernel fastboot flash boot boot.img
after flash turn on your fon..go to recovery
formated factory reset, wipe cache, clear dalvik cache, wipe betry stats..
flash update cm7.update.zip,gaps.zip,baseband64libs.zip
reboot your fon..wait 2 or 3 mint..done
My thanks goes to you. I was hoping to avoid full wipe, but I don't care anymore, since I brought my phone back to life. I skipped these steps, though:

hey guys, can you post the link to that stock firmware, baseband and libs? maybe I've downloaded something wrong :/
btw. is there still that bug with a dark screen after locking phone?

This is the link to the stock 4.0.2.A.0.42.. flash it using flashtool.. http://www.multiupload.com/W3B7BOKUXQ
Everything you need for flashing FXP is on his signature, including bb .64 (to be flashed with flashtool - doesn't erase a thing).. then download FXP (latest is 108) and inside the zip file you'll see boot.img, which contains the special kernel (to be flashed using fastboot, not flashtool).
Also there's no dark screen bug in the latest releases, certainly not in FXP 107 and 108, which I'm using now.
Please help!

Hey, this is my first post on here. I am new to android and just got an arc a few days ago. Even before i got it i was trying to figure out how to mod it. I am reasonably good at computers but a lot of the stuff i read on these forums is beyond me.
I have done my best to root and install CM7 on my arc but i have failed yet again.
I finally got it rooted and was all happy until when i tried to install CM7, all i can get to is the boot screen, but although the little android on the skateboard is very cool, i wish i could get it going!
So because I dont really understand the list of instructions you posted in this quote, i was hoping you could kind of translate into noob-speak. I still dont feel like i completely understand 'flashing'. In your instructions you say to "flash baseband 64" and that is the main point where I am stuck i think. Do you use a certain program (flashtool?) for this? or do it through a terminal window on the PC.
Also links to all the files mentioned would be awesome, its hard to find proper links with multiupload down and that kind of thing. Also with the rate this kind of tech evolves, things get outdated to quickly.
Please help! At the moment i have (i think) successfully returned my arc to the stock firmware using flashtool. Although i did this twice because i re-tried flashing CM7 and failed again. And the second time i couldnt seem to select LTI5i as the device to flash too, but LTI8i is what i used and it appears to have worked. So any help with that little conundrum would also be appreciated!
Cheers for any help given, I am so desperate to get this mod going as i have spent a solid 10+ hours trying already.
your bootloader unlock?right?
which kernel u use right now?
@tehknowitallnoob, I can lead you through the whole flashing process, if you want to, but only on Friday after around 9 pm GMT +1, since I don't have the time to do it earlier.
Sent from my LT15i (Xperia arc) on CM7
Try this:
Reflash back to stock ROM with a flashtool.
Then again flash the cm7 or try cm9
-cheers
Ok, so basically i have just gone ahead and followed these steps for flashing cyanogenmod:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Arc:_Full_Update_Guide
When i got up to step 7, i wasn't able to load clockwork mod, and because i am a noob and new to this, i actually didn't know that i had to install it beforehand. So now, i've got a phone which wont turn on properly (stuck with a lit up black screen) and will only connect into fastboot
Please, somebody help me!!!! I am really scared that i may have bricked my phone, if i can do anything to get it running again, i would be so happy. Please help
did you flash the CM kernel? and CM recovery comes with the kernel..you dont need to install it separately..

Alright first thing first. Which version of CM are you trying to flash? And where you downloaded it from?
---------- Post added at 04:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:06 AM ----------
Ok we will come to flashing ROMs later lets first get you to boot your phone so that you can use it and not be scared. Whatever you have messed up, flashing the phone with flashtool and official FTF would make it normal. I hope you know how to do it. Google around and you can find flashtool. Get it installed to you PC then go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314 and download the ftf file and flash it using flashtool. Then your phone will be back up and running. Once its done. Come back here and tell me. Ill help you with flashing ROMs.
@ arpith.fbi
Yes i flashed a boot.img that came with the CM9 zip file, but that is all.
@ gnirujan
I am flashing CM9, and i got it from the downlaods section of the CM website.
I have also downlaoded flashtool but im not sure how to flash the FTF file. By the way, that file is for LT18i, and i have a LT18a. Would it matter?
Thanks for the replies
also gnirujan,
I checked that FTF file, and its 370mb. Is it the full firmware? If it is, i will flash it but if there is a way to continue with the cyanogen flashing, i would love to avoid downloading that ftf.
P.S. LANKAN PRIDEEE!!!!
ok first tell me during startup do u see boot logo? or any logo?
When i boot up, all i see is a lit up black screen with nothing on it
Flash the attached boot.img which is the FXP CM9 kernel from this site, then install the zip.
Ok, thanks, i will try it.
That didn't work either , did the same thing as the other.
I have managed to flash a stock ics ftf file, and i have finally rooted my phone. Now i want to try Rom manager instead to install, but when i go to install Clockwork mod recovery, it says stuff about my phone not currently being officially supported.
Any ideas?

Your boot loader is unlocked right? You wanna install Cynogenmod 9 right? You dont install the one from cyanogenmod site. It has a non working kernel. In XDA there are these guys called FXP (Free Xperia Project) they are the ones responsible for CM for all Xperia devices. So do this. Go tho this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356685 download the CM9 RC 1 FXP 128. Its a 130MB file. Download it and now extract it and flash that boot.img to your Arc S using fastboot. Now start your phone and you should see FXP boot screen then from there go to recovery and try flashing the CM9 RC 1 you have. That should work. I suggest if you can replace the CM9 you have in your memory cad with the FXP128 zip its better so that you can flash the latest FXP128 CM 9, which has lots of improvements.
Edit: Arc S and Arc same ZIP its called anzu

Allright as far as i know there are two ways you can get CMW installed on your phone. 1. Download CWM auto installer from play store and install CMW through that. 2. Flash a kernel which has CWM pre installed.
In this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793 you can find stock sony kernel with CWM. You download it and flash it using fastboot. That will get you CWM. hope i helped you.
Thanks gnirujan,
I managed to find a FXP127 kernel yesterday and it worked. But this would be even better. I heard that FXP128 is much faster as well, but I've already set up my whole system and dont want to reset it now . Any way of updating it without wiping?
Thanks again !!!

I believe you can try flashing on top of your existing system. I personally have never tried it. But i think it is possible. I would recommend you to flash FXP 128. The improvements are very very visible. More fast and smooth.

Hi, guys and girls.
I know this question sounds stupid, and someone might say: "Duuuh, use the seach-function!" - Well, I have, but as a new member it's pretty hard finding the things that I need when there's so many sections and such.
Now for my question:
At Christmas I recieved a Samsung Galaxy Gio. The phone is cool, and I like it a lot. However, I do wanna use a custom ROM. Can anybody tell me (step by step, please) how to do so? I have read the "Big thread For New Users", but somehow I managed to get lost in all of the fine new words.
I have done it before on my HTC Touch Diamond, (but I dropped it and now it won't start again) but I really can't figure out how to do so this time - and it would be sad to ruin my new phone by doing stuff I don't know anything about.
So, could anybody please be nice and tell me how to install a custom ROM? And please keep in mind that I'm a huuuuge newbie
I'm using Android 2.3.6
Thanks in advice.
Dennis
P.S. Would I be able to "revert" everything back to how it is now? Is there a way to "unroot" (I know there is, just not how to), and can the default ROM from Samsung be found anywhere?
okay so first DON'T use Rom Manager because it bricks your gio.
if you want to flash a custom rom you need to flash clockwork recovery. after that download "ext4 formatter" and flash it with cwm recovery (install zip->choose zip). download a custom rom and flash it in the same way as "ext4 formatter". wipe data and restart your phone... (clockwork mod recovery, ext4 formatter and custom roms can be found in development section)
if you don't like all these custom roms you can install the stock rom by downloading a stock rom on sammmobile.com and flashing with odin.
Sorry for my bad englisch

You don't to be a delevoper if you want to flash your phone. It's really very easy if you read a few infos about this. One post above you have a list of things that you have to do but it's easy. You can do this in about 10 minutes. Very important is: you must know what you do. And do this ! Here you can view a lot of tutorials and links of roms, recorecys etc. :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623393
Ok, so I guess this is what I'm gonna do:
1. Doing a hard reset of my phone (wipe).
2. Root my Gio using this guide.
3. Downloading and flashing a custom ROM (I'm very unsecure on this step, please give a detailed "guide").
4. After flashing (is flashing the same thing as installing?), I start up my Gio and I'm gonna do a hard reset.
Is this the way to do it?

1. Not needed to do before flashing but it doesn't hurt either
2. No need for ROOT if you plan flashing a custom rom. 100% of custom roms have root pre-installed.
3. Download the file, put it on your SD card (do not put it in any folder, just on your sdcard), go into recovery mode, chose install zip from sdcard, navigate to the file, chose it, chose Yes and wait for it to finish, do wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition from CWM and you're done!
4. Yes, start it up (it takes quite long time to boot it for the first time) and you may do the hard reset but i have never done it and my Gio is still working perfectly. And yes flashing and installing is basically the same thing.
P.S I know how you feel exactly atm. When i got my gio and learned about flashing custom roms and rooting, I was scared as well but now i have installed many roms and now it is like a normal thing for me. Have fun and DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER!
Don't forget to click thanks if it helped

The first two steps are right. after that you are downloading the clockwork mod recovery (also called cwm) and the ext4 formatter from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650. now you are entering the stock recovery. turn off your phone and restart it but hold the power and home button at boot. now flash the cwm zip file (in the thread is all explained how to do). restart the phone and enter the cwm recovery by holding power and home button at boot. go to "install zip" -> "choose zip" and choose the ext4 formatter zip file. okay now wipe data. download a custom rom and install it in cwm like the other zip files. wipe again data. now restart your phone.
and tadaaa it should work
ps: if you are from Germany (i think so because of your name) you can write me a pn if you need help and i can explain it in German
Sorry for my bad englisch
Hi,
Thanks for both of the answers - However, there is something that I'm confused about now. Jyrx, you say that I don't need to root if it's a custom ROM, because custom ROMs already have done a root. But emyaz tells me that it should be done. Aren't most ROMs from xda custom? Fx. this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062676 (CyanogenMod 10.1 [BETA 2.5]) - is this a custom ROM? If it is, I don't need to ROOT, right?
emyaz, unfortunately no - I'm Danish, and I know very little German

Yes, like I said every custom rom has root. I think what emyaz thinks is that root is essential and if you don't install a custom rom you should root your phone. And your example has root and it doesn't need to be rooted.
EDIT: On XDA yes, there are basically only custom roms. If a rom isn't a custom rom or doesn't have a root then it is most certainly said in the topic.
You need to root your device before you start flashing roms. But is it nessesary to flash an ext4 formatter. I didn't do it. I do not have any problems. Where do you need it for?
Ardee - Sent from my Gio using xda premium app
Now I'm confused. One says that I don't need to flash, but others says that I need to.
I didn't root my phone before flashing roms. And I also haven't used ext4 formatter and it is working fine. So I don't know about that really.
---------- Post added at 12:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:27 AM ----------
Well I think for safety, root it. If you don't probably nothing will happen but I'm not sure, but if you do then nothing bad will happen either.
Half of the people answering give the wrong answers.
- root
- install custom recovery
- backup
Flash ext4formatter (cleans all partitions and mounts as ext4, no wipes needed, only use this first time installing a rom or after using ODIN to restore to stock)
- install rom
-reboot
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda app-developers app

Now when I try to boot up the phone it just stuck at Sony logo
I have come so far just to screw it all up at the last step
Is there any where to install back the OS

Hi Just dowload any room from here put the sd car and install from the cwm .or try to recover from sony pc companion just do repair
Hi thanks for the quick reply
Hmm all my phone can do is stuck at Sony logo, nothing else
It is that bad, and for your info
It can't go into Recovery
My PC / Sony PC Companion is not able to detect it
Flash tool still can detect that it is connected
and by any ROM u mean custom ROM?
I have Speed ROM 8.0, not installed on my phone yet though
If I just install custom ROM I can get my phone back to life?
But first, I don't think I can install custom ROM / do anything when I can't do things I mentioned above
Download stock ICS and flash it using flashtool.
Thanks for the reply
Ok I will try that.
But how to flash a ROM using flash tool? It is possible? I have only used flash tool for firmware.
And all I can google is about how to flash a ROM using ROM Manager or Recovery.
Do you have link to any tutorial about this?
Edit:
Opps I found something about that.
Another question, is it ok to use any version of stock ICS?
I found Dovahkiin 1.2. Is it ok?
Or is Speed ROM 8.0 ok?

Guys i really need help, I'm using an xperia play and i had just unlocked the bootloader and then flashed a the trueancestors ics rom and the LuPuS_zeus_Stock-gB+iCsv7-full kernel. Now it turns out that i didnt like the rom so i put it back to stock, still with the lupus kernel. Everything was working however i wanted to have the doomkernel v14. So i flashed the doomkernel and it was working however the wifi had erroros so i changed back to the lupus kernel. Again everything was working fine now. I then found out how to fix the wifi problem on doomkernelv14 so refrlashed that kernel. Before i reflashed the kernel i deleted the trueancestors isc rom as i didnt like it so i thought it would be ok. After the flash i tried to reboot the device, and it was stuck on the bootloader for doomkernel, not in a bootloop just stuck at doomkernel bootloader. I tried to fix this by going to recovery (clockwork mod) and then did a factory reset, wiped the cache and data and the dalvik cache as i saw these online for instructions on how to fix this problem. Still i had the same problem, stuck at bootloader. So i tried somthing different and reinstalled the trueancestors ics rom, and tried to reboot the xperia play, again stuck at bootloader. Im sorry if this was a bit long but I AM LITTRALLY BEGGING FOR SOME HELP! Please make a suggestion as to how i can fix this ASAP. Can it be fixed?Thank you for you Advice it is very much aprecciated. Ive posted this somewhere else in which i couldnt find but i really need help on this, please can anyone help. :crying:
you shouldn't post a like or not like any developer handmake. try back to a stock..

When switching kernels with different partition layout you have to delete data and system partition in fastboot mode.
I'm lazy to type again so here is a link where it is explained already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849536&page=100
You can prevent future problems by wiping data and system partittion from CWM and THEN flash new kernel that have different partittion layout

I havent tried this yet, becuase i need my dad to allow flash tool to work (Parental controls ffs -.-") however i saw the thread and i saw this part saying enter these commands "fastboot erase userdata and fastboot erase system i undestand how to get the command thing open but how do u enter these in, and what i mean is do you just open the command thing and just paste these in or do u have to right click somthing open comand promt here and all the stuff then enter them? Also these steps u listed, everything is fine its just my lack off knowladge for some of these things which i do apologize for
" Fully working steps, that is 100% working:
1.flash ftf with unlocked vendor partition (.62 or .79)
2.flash lupus gb kernel
3.erase system and data from fastboot
4.enter recovery and flash your rom "
Where do you get the unlocked vender partition, and which one is better .62 or .79 and if u could send me a link as your helping me i think ur choice of links for this is more reliable than mine, and again this is greatly appreciated.
" Fully working steps, that is 100% working:
1.flash ftf with unlocked vendor partition (.62 or .79)
2.flash lupus gb kernel
Download file name R800i_4.0.2.A.0.79.ftf from Xperia Play Index - ROM'S, FIRMWARE, KERNEL'S, GUIDE'S, THEMES, MOD'S second post have firmware files
Guide how to use flashtool you can find at [GUIDE][18th Dec][4Noobs] Flashing A FTF File Using Flashtool
Flashing .79 or .62 firmware is necessary if you are planning to use lupus gb or icd/gb kernel - and you only need to do it once.
Flashing kernel is same, but when pressed on lighting icon, choose "fastboot"
3.erase system and data from fastboot
Ok, i made a zip for you. Download it from attachment, unpack to anywhere you like and double-click file named "start". Power off phone, press search and while keeping it pressed, plug in usb. I don't think you need admin rights for that, but:
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROM PLACED ON YOUR SD CARD! Just in case, because that program will erase everything from your phone.
You should be able to enter recovery and/or flash your rom/restore your backup.
4.enter recovery and flash your rom "
Also, read some sticky threads, they are there for a reason
Again im really sorry to bother you with this, but what if i dont want to flash the rom, becuase i didnt like it in the first place so i went back to stock, however this method of returning to stock was to flash the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_(1253-4437).ftf file. Now what it did was return it to stock rom (AFTER i tried the rom i didnt like) and unrooted the phone, i dont know if it returns the phone to stock firmware, and if the method of the system data wipe thing with the command prompt deleted everything, what can i flash? Little more explaination as to why im asking. Before this boot stuck thing hapenned i had used that same ftf file to return it to stock and unrooted. I re-rooted the phone and then flashed the lupus kernel. Everything was fine. I wanted to flash the doomkernel because like a dum nut i wanted to show off that i could overclock to 2ghz ( if i wanted to) as if alrdy stated before and did so. I think you can only flash zip files from your SD card so the ftf file wont be able to be flashed while on the device. So what do i flash? Should i just flash the rom i dont like and try return it to stock, then flash the ftf .79 firmware again after re-rooting the phone, then flash the doomkernelv14. In short i want to stay with the normal gingerbread 2.3.4 with doomkernelv14. Again i havent tried this yet and also sorry for these long rambly posts, i just want to give you as much info as possible in order for you to help me. Thank you so much for your solution btw much appriciated.:good:
And almost forgot i also want it back to rooted but i can do that myself, i just thought i'd specifiy it just incase its worth anything.

Remember, kernel must much rom. Gb stock kernel for gb sony based rom, you'll get stuck agan in kernel logo if if you flash kernel that don't match rom/firmware
Just read in kernel thread for info on wich roms it works

Everythings fine at the moment and i dont want to make any more dumb mistakes so im just going to ask if wiping the data and system partitions in CWM still deleted everything. I just recently got all of my apps back and all that good stuff, i just want to know if they will get erased if i do this. My deepest appologies for bothering you with something so minor and selfish.
Sorry another selfish request (Damit) but when ever i flash the doomkernel v14 my wifi gets error, i was wondering if u knew how to fix this, if u dont and have the free time or feel like it, direct me to somone who does?

Yes, if you wipe data and system then EVERYTHING is deleted. All your apps (data) and even android OS itself (system). You'll have to either flash new rom or restore backup after wiping system
Doomkernel need wifi modules to be installed from CWM recovery to have working wifi
I'll attach it
Im wondering about my battery life, because it seems to be draining faster. Im using no frills cpu with the lupus kernel alowing me to overclock to 1.6 ghz. I set my higest on 1613 mhz and lowest on 249mhz using the smartassv2 governer. any idea to whats going on ?
ok...i screw up my xperia play... dunno what to do.
hi guys, been a noob after i fed up with my xperia x8 now i having a xperia play f or 2 years and try to install a custom kernel and roms but i end up brick my phone. it just stuck at logo "xperia free play". it still can enter cwm recovery mode but when i use the method press the arrow thing then plug in the usb cable to pc , it seems my pc did detect my phone but cant show up my memory card in 'my computer' window. The i try to use fastboot & flashtool both can detect my phone after plug in. Here is what i do before brick:
first thing i did on my phone was to upgrade the stock kernel 4.0.2.a.0.42, then i unlock the bootloader, root it, and start download the custom rom without download the requirement kernel. after that, i install CWM using fast boot, put the custom rom to sd card, wipe user data, bla bla bla, then install the custom rom, the next thing i see is the problem i talking about earlier. So i try to using the service update from SCE but it just say im using a modified kernel hence i unable recover it using that method. so, i try to use flash tool x10 (i cant get any working download it keep saying error 404 link, this is the best i have now) when i press the flash it come out red words with error usb ...the thing is my phone cant get detected by my computer.... What to do or it is over? (p/s : i download the flash tool & adb package winrar file & the custom rom i mention is close 2 perfection)
I know is a bit long but I really need help on my phone, i still have a x8 here from my mom and mine is xperia play brick for 3 days now i still cant find a way to solve it. PLEASE HELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP. THANK YOU FOR THOSE RESPONSE~!

Man i was doing so well before, but im now stuck in a bootloop. I cant enter the recovery menu as the phone just keeps bootlooping. Also with lupus kernel the menu doesnt come up. I just erased the user data and system with ur zip from before and flashed aurora play with lupus v12.5 kernel It worked like everything else. i got more curious so i did the same thing erased user and system data then flashed gin2jellybean with the same kernel.( i followed ur intructions from before on how to flash roms n stuff) Everything worked again. I wanted a new kernel so i flashed extreme kernel r3. phone got stuck in a bootloop. So i erased user data and system data, then flashed and ftf stock rom and then flashed extreme kernel r3. everything was working. I went into titanium backup and uninstalled some system apps and accidently deleted the one that let you see the running services to see available ram. So i cleared data and and system data reflashed ftf stock rom in flashmode ofc, and extreme kernel in fastboot. I got a bootloop, so i tried all the different kernels that i could and i cant get into the menu for recovery. Can you please help me once again, i'll thank every post.

For most part, you are doing it right, but, to solve problem with recovery, you should use "eraser" AFTER you change kernel

Naturaly, it will drain more battery BECAUSE it's overclocked.

I think you should repeat the fastboot process once again, so:
fastboot erase userdata
and fastboot erase system
then just flash the kernel you prefer.
I had exactly the same problem with my play bootlooping after flashing some kernels. and this solved the problem for me :victory:
sorry for my bad English, :crying:
