Android 4.2.1 Camera - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi everyone . since the release of Android 4.2.1 . struggle to zoom the camera , today when i played around with the device i found it .
The technique behind the zoom :
Place two finger at the screen and move one finger over the screen to zoom the camera .
I tried this over AOKP ROM. Hope few would have struggle to zoom it like me . if you know it already well and good . to the unknown guys enjoy it
Hit Thanks and Enjoy

I dont know why google doesn't do a "tutorial" type thing for apps they completely redesign. i have see quite a few people asking how to zoom on the new camera. if google did a quick little video or something when opening the app for the first time, it would alleviate a lot of headaches.
just my opinion though

Hmm but it is quite an intuitive feature that's been implemented all over the user interface. It's a simple pinch-to-zoom gesture!

Simple though
Yup its simple but hidden . Got so many days to find it , thought of sharing , so that other can also gain from it

Dude are you seriously taking about pinch to zoom in the camera app.. and a new thread for that...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Using digital zoom is a terrible idea anyway. Just take the picture at full resolution and crop it later.

Does anyone have the a pk of the first Jelly Bean camera? And does anyone know if it would work instead of the naive JB4.2 app?

New Features of 4.0.4

For as long as I can can remember I've been wishing that google would add a previous button to Google Music[ Play Music] lol And it looks like they've finally done it As far as I know I've never seen it before lol Correct me if I'm wrong
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Its been there lol only fits in landscape mode unless you're using CM9's music apk.
The best new feature of 4.0.4?
No UI lag! Galaxy Nexus is finally as smooth in its menus again as it was in 4.0.1!

Lol I never noticed it before I'm still trying to find all the new features/ improvements smh I wish an official complete change log would appear

Is it just me or is the camera way better in 4.0.4? It feels like the app starts faster and take less blurred pictures. Also the video is way better and not as wobbly as before. Someone else seeing these results or is it just me imagine stuff =p
Yes. The camera is much improved. It now focuses pretty much within milliseconds of capturing the photo... instead of half a second to a second before capturing, like it used to (results in very clear and crisp pictures).

cm 7 camera is nt clear its dark help me out here!!!!!!

guys i m using cm7 since a long time and i dont want to get back to stock rom for only camera cz stock rom was having much better clearity than cm7....cm7 camera is nt clear and its sooo dark wen we use flash i pic is more ****ed up.....thers no problm with the camera its just nt clear soo can u help me to get a clear camera in cm7???
if u help methen ur helping many camera victims like me

Oh well I thought CM had an amazing camera. The photos come amazing and are super crisp.

Yeah, really, it's way better than the Sense camera in low light as well; I have no idea what you're talking about, and in the wrong section at that.
Maybe you should try wiping your camera lens ?
EDIT: Or if that fails, you could always get a different camera app from the market. I mostly use Vignette, since it lets you take a pic just by touching the screen, and it has a ton of awesome effects too. I've heard Camera 360 takes good pics as well, but I find it lacks good effects (but you're not really looking for a photo-editing app anyways).
I totally agree with the OP. The camera isn't great for me. The pic seems to be taken too long after the flash has 'flashed'.
A camera app will not help. Its the drivers for the hardware or something else low level that causes it.

lol...NOPE MY CAMERA LENS IS CRYSTAL CLEAR I MEAN THE CM7 CAMERA IS DARK NT BRIGHT AND CLEAR LIKE STOCK SENSE CAMERA......CM7 CAMERA IS DARK AND SOME TIMES IT LACKS TOOO AND THE WRST PROBLM IS THERS NO TOUCH FOCUS IN IT:\ ........
Again I say, Vignette's camera lets you choose exposure levels (higher=brighter), as well as having a touch-to-refocus option , so try that out.

360 Photosphere?

Is anybody else excited for this feature? I'm sure we'll get the 4.2 update within the next few months.
I know it's more of a novelty feature, just like panorama mode, but it would be fun to use imo.
Once this feature is widely available, I think Google should allow people to add their Photoshere photos to google maps.
you can add them to google maps. which is close enough or exactly what you meant.

Flash in zip, this is a working file it installs og android camera and gallery to give you photosphere, your old cam and gallery will still be there but will not do photosphere to find the feature open your new cam app change the type by tapping cam icon and picking photosphere ONLY the gallery installed can view the pics properly enjoy
we will never get 4.2 ...
Very cool, thank you. Once we get a factory Odin image, I'll take the plunge and root and flash.
Anyone else getting crappy spheres generated? They just don't look as good as the one on the demo video.
Edit: I guess it's hit or miss; I just did another one and it looks awesome. Some of the edges are still a bit bad but overall it was very nice, considering it mashed up like 12 pics

Slowmotion video rec app [high fps] search!

Hi guys,
more than 2 years i search for a slowmotion app like i saw long time ago on the Samsung GT-8500 (Wave 1 with Stock bada).
It worked really well but i searched and test some apps for HTC Desire ...but none worked really well.
Now im using a GT-9300 and hope their should be a cool application ?!
Please give me some tipps or examples!
Using atm ROM:
CM/AOKP based
...dont know if stockrom support this feature on camera app.
Thx Pritti
I am not sure about a specific app but there is a camera app from note 2 with fast and slow recording capabilities.. Search that in this same section..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
But is it really possible to use Stock apps on ASOP Roms? Because some stock features are nice ...but the hole touchwiz concept sucks!
Few apps might work but I guess this Camera app won't work on CM or AOKP.. Sorry, I missed that point..
Noone there who know or want that feature in AOSP Rom?

Try the note 2 camera app..it has a slow and fast motion recording. However, it is for samsung based rom only afaik.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Thx but the note2 stock application already be mentioned!
There is a slow motion app on the market. It is called Controlled Capture. It is available in Lite (free) or Pro (costs $2.99 US). There are some videos on YouTube that were taken with it under the names: "Water Drip Slow-Mo taken with Android Phone" and "Lighter Slow-Mo taken with Android Phone". Sorry can't do outside links due to newbie-ness.

Google has nailed it with 4.2! :D

So after a couple of hours (20+ hours ) i have used stock 4.2 with root. No other modifications.
What I think:
-excellent speed, no lag or slowdowns
-excellent battery life with the new kernel
-the colors of the screen are much better!
-lovely new camera app
Everything is just perfect. What do you guys think of 4.2?

I love it! It's really fast, smooth and stable. Not a single problem in now almost two days. I like new additions, I got used to them right away. But, I've mentioned this before, the new "recent apps" is bothering me. It's really, really bothering me. I like that I can use the recent apps button while in-app to close it, but it stops right there. It's buggy like hell and it makes me feel like I'm on a nightly ROM each time I close an app. And I preferred the transparent look from 4.1. I seriously hope they'll fix it soon. Argh.
But, nevertheless, I love 4.2 - it's amazing.

There are some CM10 features I miss, and I would love a new kernel.
But yes, I love it too
Well, everything is perfect expect 3 things.
1. lockscreen is a fail... o.o... after i slide to other widget page do something and come back to page where i can unlock my device i have to press a button to get the lockring? O.O also when i resize widgets i gets the lockring to another page and doesnt save the resize wtf really?
2. recent apps is cool, but its laggy. swiping apps is laggy, dont know why? hope we get the fix soon
3. power widgets at notifaction thing is not really widgets. example: if i press wifi toggle, it doesnt turn off or on wifi, it just takes you to wifi settings where you cant turn wifi on or off

of course they updated the kernel! look at the build date! and if nothing changed from the previous kernel, they could have used that one. they used a new one, and there are new changes. look at the 4.2 kernel source and you'll see
Not entirely they fubar'd the internal sdcard. Now everytime you flash a new ROM it will create a new partition in the /sdcard/ titled /0/ and you're f'd if you need a backup because thats in /sdcard/ while you're in /sdcard/0/0 :S

The more I look at it, the more I believe that is not 4.2's fault, but the recovery's fault. They need to be updated.

For myself I won't say never, but stock isn't a bad experience now ugly color is fixed, better signal for me, and quick settings aren't that bad like many people claim... ^_^ I'm happy with stock for the next time also the other features like the keyboard slide thing is nice, and let us not forget photo sphere ^^ all in Google did a big step forward, like they did with the first jelly bean version ^^

You seem to not understand. The WiFi just shows which WiFi you are connected to. Only actually toggles there are airplane mode, bluetooth and brightness.
And you also seem a bit confused to the lock screen as well. But I'll let you figure that out

Guys I see many of you have lags and bugs, i suggest to wipe everything before flashing, that's what I did and I have no lag or bugs in recent apps or elsewhere...and I'm usually very picky about lags and framerate drops...really 4.2 is as smooth or better than 4.1.2 here...gmail and recent apps are smoother than ever, facebook feed scrolling is finally totally smooth, and generally 4.2 feels fast and solid, I see some nice tweaked animations here and there...
That being said I expected much more from the google development team, sure WP8 lacks a solid ecosystem, but the os itself has some cool features that I'd like to see on android...like the all in one chat app, or the app-personalized lockscreen...our lockscreen widgets can't even compare to that...seems like android team is out of imagination and is just implementing small and not useful things here and there instead of pushing boundaries

So...basically you want them to push boundaries but manage to release a very stable and solid ROM, sometimes as soon as a few months after the last release (4.0>4.1>4.2 in less than a year)? I somehow have a feeling if they had revolutionized the OS but couldn't manage to smooth out a few bugs, you'd be on here hating them for not releasing a stable ROM. I think maybe you should start deving and realize the time and effort it takes to bring new features with true stability.
