Charging cable only does USB mode - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have a USB cable and it will only charge by the slow USB method. This occurs even when I use the stock Nexus charger. The cable also doesn't data so is there a possibility it doesn't have the data pins to short?

Plug it into your computer. Can you transfer files?

Nope. Nothing comes up on the phone or computer. It only charges. That's why I was thinking there's no data connection to short to tell it to charge AC.

Just buy a new cable.

Is any one else having a problem with the phone reverse charging. I.e. the battery still draining while on the charger.

I borrowed a charger at the library and it would freeze my screen. I thought it was a phone defect. When I came home my home charger is acting normal .

If you are using it as a wireless hotspot with usb charging I could imagine that happening.
Usb charging is very weak.

[Q] Cannot connect S3 via USB

My S3 won't connect to my laptop via USB, downloaded Kies, new drivers etc. My wifes S3 connects to same laptop using same cords instantly. Is there a setting on my phone somewhere that is keeping it from connecting?
Thanks

Yeah, I thought I saw a setting like that in the past. It's not there now. I have usb debugging but that's it. No usb setting that I can click on under developers options? Anyone else not have this?

Battery is barely recharging ?

Lately, my phone charges slowly. Sometimes, does not charge at all. Is it battery problem or the phone ? I am using stock firmware.

So this means I must get myself a new battery then. Oh well, this phone is old anyway.

Before buying new battery, try different charger and/or different usb cable. Is it same when charging with pc?
I have similar problem, but only under heavy load (while in home on charger and playing heavy games it's discharging slowly, but on different charger and cable it's charging normally)

Charging issues

My phone has been charging super slow does anyone know how to speed it up.

Are you using the factory cables? I've found that to be a huge problme with slow charging if you don't use factory cables or a charger having the same output volts and amps.

I've noticed that it also matters how you put - or better - TURN your charger in the wall socket (I tried turning it 180 degrees, thus changing the polarity of the fork and voila, my phone charges fast)
Possibly not my factory charger broke and I bought some flat cables they charge like crap what output and all that should I get.

You should get an HTC cable, and a charger box that goes into the wall with at least an output of 5volt and 2amps

Charging Gpad 8.3

I have noticed something odd about charging my Gpad. If the USB cable is plugged into the tablet before the charger is plugged into the AC outlet it will not charge. The charger always has to be plugged in first… then connected to the tablet. Is it the same for everybody? Just curious...
