Accidentally Installed Jellybean 4.2 - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I rooted bla bla bla ......
No back up
Installed jellybean 4.2 Now stuck in start up screen with cool video of triangles.
My pc wont recognize it as an external drive so that I can install 4.1 I am able to access TWRP
HELP!

Go into twrp. And there should be a settings or advanced box, click it. Then mount your kindle fire. Then send the 4.1.1 ROM to your kindle. In twrp unmount then flash the zip

Try to wipe /cache and /data in twrp and 4.2 will probably boot after about 5 minutes of your favorite triangles
You will of course lose any ROM data

[Q] - Error mounting SDcard in CWM [SOLVED]

Hello I'm new to the nexus line and recently upgraded form a SGS. my phone is Rooted, unlocked boot loader and running the most recent version of CWM 5.5.0.4. I'm running the GSM version of the Nexus.
My question is how do I flash the my first rom? When I boot into recovery and click install zip from SDcard i get "E: Can't mount /sdcard/" I am also unable to mound the data partition within. windows drivers are installed for both fastboot and adb so I can flash that way, i'm just wondering what the exact steps are and if that error mounting data is normal.
I also downloaded the most recent franco.Kernel as I want to run that, I know how to flash that with fastboot but wasnt' sure if that is how you would flash a rom with the nexus, on the SGS i used to use odin.
Thanks and sorry for the noobness.
How did you "unlock fastboot" and "root" and "install CWM"? Did you use one of the "Tool Kits"?
Do you have ROM Manager installed on your device?

Sorry, Yes I have ROM Manager installed and its' paid for.
I unlocked my boot loader using fastboot oem unlock, I rooted by using an app because I couldn't mount the data partition in recovery so had to use some app some guy made that downloaded the su.zip from clockwork and flashed on it's own.
I installed CWM using fastboot.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it's the dam data partition that i'm really having trouble with, i'm just wondering if this is normal, all the posts on the web say to flash a zip by choosing "choose zip from scard" but mine wont mount???
I should also mention that my entire device is encrypted.....that is whats causing it isn't it?
I'm not 100% sure but it could be that you flashed the wrong recovery.
According to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357642
the recovery for the GSM version is 5.5.0.2 and not 0.4.
I would flash the correct recovery then try again.
You can not mount sdcard from CWM recovery (don't ask me why, I don't know.. maybe because it is not supported yet ..)
anyway, do like me, use CWM 5.5.0.2 and then try again toflash zip files .. It works for me

I'm starting to think it's my encrypted phone, technically when I boot I have to decrypt the device before it boots into android.
I'm going to factory reset and see if that helps. I have a feeling that is what my problem is
OK so that was the problem, the data partition was encrypted (now that I think of this it makes sense that it wouldn't mount) anyways, for whatever reason a factory reset from android wouldn't work. I removed the "recovery-from-boot.p" file from my system folder originally so the CWM image would remain in tact.
anyways, I flashed the original recovery over the CWM recovery, preformed a factory wipe (which is the only way to decrypt your phone) then flashed CWM back on and now I can mount the data partition
what a pain in the ass, guess I wont be encrypting the phone any time soon, I wish there was an option to decrypt the drive and then get into recovery....wouldn't have this issue.

It is possible now on 4.1.2 to decrypt the device. You must provide a password for dectypting (chane from unlock pin to passw).

[Q] Softbricked HTC One X International Version

Hi guys!
I factory reset my rooted phone using Fastboot Screen.
After that, I also did factory reset using recovery.
I erased all partitions, cache, dalvik cache.
Now, my phone can't get past through the HTC Welcome Screen.
I want to flash another ROM but I can't put the zip file in my phone since I can't open the drive in my PC (it's not appearing in my pc).
Please help me. I want my phone to be usable again. Also, I want to continue to flash a New ROM.

You can open the recovery??
If yes, have you try to use the mount usb?

Yes I tried to go to recovery and mount USB storage, mount /sdcard, mount /data, mount /system.
And still nothing happens. It says, E: Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
The back story of my problem:
- I tried to install a Jellybean Hboot 1.36 since I want a Sense based ROM UI.
- When I was doing that, my battery is too low to do it. Anyways, I was able to push through with the HBOOT Update after reading some threads here. After that my phone started already.
- Fast forward, I unlocked the bootloader, etc. then I wiped everything in fastboot and in recovery because I'm preparing to install a new ROM (Viper and Renovate) But I forgot to put the zip files in my phone. And now I'm stuck with the HTC opening screen and I can't put the files in my phone.

[Q] need help restoring kindle to stock

I seem to have tried to wipe everything on my kindle fire first generation trying to restore as my backup of the stock rom has been deleted. It was also not currently on any rom and i can not get it to boot up it just stays in the twrp boot screen instead of transitioning to the normal orange and white one. I can however still boot into recovery just not to the rom itself being that there is none. The mount option does not work as it will not come up visibly on the computer or under the hardware/device manager. So all in all i have no way to connect my kindle to install the stock rom back again. Please help as fast as possible. I have checked many other threads to no avail and this is were im at stuck with a dead kindle.

Go into mounts inside TWRP and mount sdcard. Once sdcard is mounted you will be able to see it on your computer when a USB cable is connected. Place a different rom onto the sdcard and unmount sdcard. Wipe data (factory reset) and wipe cache and dalvik cache. Go to install and install the new rom you placed onto the sdcard. You should be all set, it should boot now.
If it doesn't, you may be stuck in fastboot. To get out of fastboot, connect to the computer and run KFU and select number 1.

[Q] HTC ONE -- can't access from computer

Hi all, I ****ed up and didn't make a backup.
I wiped the phone clean from bootloader recovery, but then realized I had forgotten to move the new gapps and cm rom to my phone.
When I plug it in, it is recognized by my computer, but the HTC MTP Device fails to work.
I can't see the phone, and therefore can't put anything on it to flash. If I mount the phone via the bootloader, it pops up in Windows and wants to be formatted.
I have been looking around and trying different things for the past couple hours, and figured it was time to ask someone who might know..
Any ideas?

I don't understand why I can't mount or access the phone. Do I not have the right drivers installed?
Is there any way to get around this and put the files on my phone so I can install any old ROM so I can boot it up again??
You need to update the drivers on your PC, there's a few threads on how to do it. You should still be able to use adb push to add files, though.
Drivers are fine ! Go in recovery and mount the sdcard as a usb mass storage device ! In the title you speak of a HTC one......so is it a ONE or a ONE X ?
Thanks for replying!
It is an HTC One X. Should I just install the Android SDK bundle? Or are there other drivers?
Android sdk bundle is good. But you have MYHTC so that's correct. You need to go into the recovery and mount the sdcard as a usb storage device, it will show the drive in windows and then you can copy a rom onto it.

Hi, so I installed the newest HTC driver (4.2) and all the SDK bundles. When I plug the phone it, it still won't recognize the HTC MTP Device. When I mount from the bootloader, it doesn't let me mount the sdcard (only the system data and cache), and Windows still shows a drive that needs to be formatted.
Do you think it's still a Windows driver I'm missing? If I go Terminal Command on phone it says
E: Unable to mount '/sdcard'
E: Unable to mount storage.
What's the option called you tap inside recovery. And what recovery are you using ?
If it's CWM you go to mounts and storage and tap the last option in that list.....then wait till it pops up on the pc
I'm using TWRP v 2.4.2.0 and I couldn't check the box for mount sdcard.
ADB push worked!
But the ROM failed. Is there anything else I'm missing?
It still says that E: can't mount.

Firstly thank you so much for taking time to help a lost stranger out!
What I did was reformat the J: drive that popped up on Windows, then I was able to put both the CM10.2 and GAPPS on the /sdcard/ (it would then mount)
I could then install both of them successfully, but I don't have a boot.img because my kernel is wiped. Will that file work as a boot.img?

Or how do I try your recover? Should I push it with adb? If so, to where?
I found two other boot.img files on the webs (boot.img and cm10.img), but I don't know how to get the phone to actually boot off them
The boot.img has to be flashed via Fastboot in the bootloader. So if you installed CM correctly via the recovery then flash the boot.img from the CM.zip ....
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
And a kernel can't be wiped via the recovery by the way. You can only delete/overwrite it via Fastboot commands

Okay! That's good
I think it flashed correctly, now I am just waiting for the phone to boot up. It's been going for about 25 minutes though. Should it be that long?
Nope not good.......make a full wipe in recovery before installing the rom.
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage-format cache,data,system
Then install CM and gapps then reboot because you already flashed its boot.img

None of the ROMs I've tried have worked! I think it's because my hboot is version 1.14.

Stuck yet again.
I relocked the phone to flash new firmware, but I have CID 1111111, so I can't find anything to unlock the bootloader again.
Double sauced. Ahhhhhh
Unlock the bootloader by flashing the unlock_Code.bin file wich you got the first time when it's unlocked.
Fastboot flash token unlock_code.bin
But you really should continue this in the right forum. Flashing stuff from here may brick the phone !

[Q] How to pull data when in Clockworkmod Recovery Mode?

Hi guys
I am running Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 on a Galaxy Nexus GSM. I installed that last year with the easy to use installer.
2 days ago I clicked update on that M3 Snapshot. Since then, the phone is not booting anymore and hanging on the blue loading screen with the cyanogenmod face and the circle around it.
I can boot to Odin and Clockworkmod Recovery.
I installed the Android SDK and the USB adb drivers and it shows the device under "devices" without trouble but not as a storage device so i cant pull data via the windows explorer. I am on Windows 7 Ultimate.
When in CWM Recovery and trying adb pull it says device not authorized. Unfortunetly i switched off usb debugging right before i installed that update.
My question>
I have to save the photos from the internal sd card before i can just wipe everything and reset it to factory setting. How can i do that?
Any chance to get around the "device unauthorized" msg ? Via adb devices i can see the device in the list.
I searched around a lot and kind of out of options now :/
if it is any help. i was just able to flash the clockworkmod to 6.0.4.7 via heimdall in odin mode but i still cannot read data from the phone..
if its possible to write on the phone it should be possible to read from it?

...I thought you were to retrieve app data. Yes, the internal storage will not be cleared during normal /data wipe (unless you intentionally do so). Anyway, congrats
