Profile/PRL update on AOSP/AOKP Roms - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone had thought or attempted the following...
Currently I am using an HTC Evo 3D (CDMA). Hboot 1.50 S-off. Multi-booting ViperROM and team D.I.R.T.'s unofficial Jelly Bean AOKP. As most of you know in AOSP/AOKP roms the ##data# code(s) do not work and there is no Profile/PRL update anywhere in settings. I was looking at the Sprint Galaxy Nexus which is AOSP and realized there is a Update Profile and Update PRL option under "About Phone/Sprint System Updates".
Has anyone thought of (or succeeded) trying to pull these features out of a stock Galaxy Nexus ROM and incorporating them into other AOSP/AOKP ROMS?
Thanks.

[Q] Clarification of Using Roms and version updates

I have a few questions about flashing ROMS on my E4GT.
I've read a little about the different ROMS and I'm not sure which one to choose. I think Codename ICS is the right one for me but I need help with that. What I'm looking for:
Faster and more stable
Customization such as battery percent instead of the battery
Working WiFi and 4G
"Bloatware" doesn't really matter to me...can any of the apps be installed if I decide I want them?
Will I need to flash a new ROM when there's a Jelly Bean update or will there be an upgrade option?
Number 1 can not be accurately be answered.
Number 2 is in Samsung's stock ICS as well as CyanogenMod9 and I would assume AOKP. Many custom gingerbread roms had it.
Number 3.... usually not an issue
Number 4 custom roms, aosp roms all usually very stripped. If your not on AOSP then most touchwiz stuff can be put back on a custom touchwiz rom. Some include a removed apps folder.
Flashing a rom, broad term. All updates are "rom flashes" minor updates will replace some files major updates can do a whole lot more including pushing new bootloaders.
Jelly Bean update? I laugh very hard and then return to the ways you will get jelly bean. Flash a ported rom of Jelly Bean, CM10 when it comes out, AOKP when it goes Jelly Bean. Maybe someone will waste the time to port a GS3 jelly bean rom?
From what I can tell, there are no "official" CyanogenMod ROMs that work well on the E4GT. CM7 has issues with 4G. I can't remember where I read that. I believe it was a fairly recent post.
To clarify my question about upgrading, are there ways of simply upgrading from GB to ICS the way we do with the OTAs from the carriers? Could one just upgrade from CM7 to CM9 to CM10 without flashing it fresh?

I haven't loaded the newest CM10 build myself, but I have never known an AOSP ROM to have build in PRL or profile update (please correct me if I'm wrong there.) There are ways of flashing these updates, but honestly what I used to when I was running AOSP on my Evo was just occasionally load the stock ROM and update, then go back to CM. It will take a few minutes, but you shouldn't have to do it often.

Cm attempted to implement it at one point but I don't think it was successful.
Just nandroid your current cm rom, flash the stock rom, update prl and profile, then restore your nandroid.

cm10

Hello,
I am currently running CM10 on my e4gt and i was trying to update the prl and profile but wen i go to system updates it places a phone call to sprint to update the profile...I was wondering if there was another way to update the prl and profile? Also I wanted to use some dialer codes but none of them work, do I have to enable something in development or something?
thanks

[Q] Sprint Gnex - CM10 Radio still FD02

I'm kind of confused why the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, toroplus, is still using the FD02 baseband instead of the OTA JB FH05 version in CM10, even as of today's nightly.
I'm not trying to complain or anything, since I know nothing about programming, but why wouldn't they merge the official JB radio into CM10? It's been quite a while since it got released... Are there issues, or just no benefit? I'm confused.
Radios are independent of Roms. If you want the newest radios, you have to flash them yourself.

What he said, + the ROM's doesn't touch the radios at all.

are you familiar with using fastboot to flash .img files?
Ah, I wasn't aware that radios weren't included in roms. That makes sense. Yeah, I'm familiar with fastboot. Thanks!

CM with Touchwiz UI

i have Sprint S3 that i will soon be using with Virgin Mobile USA.
I love touchwiz interface (as in the stock sprint rom) but if im on VM isnt it possible there could be an update (from sprint) that could wipe all my custom settings that put the phone on VM network?
is there a way or a rom that will let me still do updates without wiping my carriers specific settings?
i know CM10 can do this for the D2SPR (my sprint s3) through its auto update but it dont have touchwiz?
so i guess my question is what would be the most "STABLE" and "Similar" rom to the stock Sprint rom that can still do big updates without messing with carrier specific settings when the updates get done?
thanks
