[Q] timescape not working - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

my timescape started acting really funny yesterday. first of all, the gmail extension, that worked on other xperia phones, did not work for my ion. then yesterday, facebook could not receive updates, through timescape. i've tried over and over and still wont update and will just give me that error to tap to try again. i checked the timescape services and facebook showed up twice, with the same account, and i thought that was weird so i restarted the phone and checked it again and then there was only one facebook account. also, apparently the music extension also suddenly stopped working because it only shows my last played music from a day ago when i have been using the music player til probably midnight. is there a way to fix this without doing a pc companion repair? hate to lose all my stuff, again, just because of one app not working properly.

I use the Facebook and Twitter extensions on Timescape and the Facebook one gives me the same error. I can't update the feed no matter what I try(signing off and on again, even a factory reset didn't change anything). Please help!

before migrating to CM10; my timescape on SXS worked perfectly without any issues. before that i had arc s and never faced issue on it too.

It's most likely because of the new securities implemented in Facebook. It doesn't even work on stock rom. Will have to wait for Sony Mobile to do something about it.

God
So Finally A Similar Issue Of This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020657)
I Was Bothered Too I'll Check This Thread If Anything Is Found!_Thanks
And Yes Its Confirmed ONLY Facebook Issue
I Use G-Reader (Mostly) Facebook & Twitter For Timescape And After Disconnecting Facebook Integration To Timescape I Resolved The Issue
Before The Timescape Was Lagging,Switching Was Slow...etc (And It Just Happened When I Switched To .50 via FlashTool, And I Thought It Was The New Firmware Problem Or Else!!!)
I Even Implemented Xperia T,GX Timescape APKs But Nope!

Well, the Facebook service in Timescape worked fine for me till a couple of days ago. I'm running the stock .55 firmware for about 3 or 4 weeks now. I believe a recent update of the main Facebook app is the culprit.

This problem is even stated on the forum of Sony mobile itself many times. It looks like everyone who uses Timescape has the same problem with the Facebook extension... Probably because Facebook recently moved to the HTML5 world Hopefully Facebook or Sony fix this problem :'(

i guess we are all SOL, if we use timescape to view our facebook feed. facebook updated their mobile app feed to a different code to speed up loading of feeds, which timescape can't read. apparently facebook isn't going to go backwards so sony has to move forward and update their timescape extension for facebook. i wonder how long that is going to take. hopefully, since timescape is their UI, they should try to fix it in a few days. but, sony usually takes longer than that so maybe a couple of week? i just hope to god it won't be a couple of months...

Hahahahah!!! "since timescape is their UI"...Good Saying Dude
"since Quick Launch Is There Special Feature"_They Didn't Fix It
"since They Are Showing Off Connectivity"_ They Forgot To Put Wifi Direct In Xperia S
"since 2012 Media Apps Are New Style In Xperia 2012 Range"_They Still Didn't Give Us
I THINK THEY ARE RELYING ON XDA Guys_since We CAN DO BETTER THEN THEM!

Do you suffer a personal problem?
Sent from my Sony Xperia S using the xda-developers app

Are u asking me?...well I'm just jokin!!! actually i wanna see how fast they'll fix it?

I suppose, that the issue is dependent to the new Facebook app, which is based on Android base instead of being an iOS port. As I'd installed the Facebook app, Timescape stopped updating my Facebook stuffs.
"Could not update from Facebook" was everytime the same message!

Sony refuses to recognize the problem; on the line with support FOR THE THIRD TIME IN TWO DAYS!! They don't GRASP the problem at all!! As you can see, I have an Xperia Arc, which has the same problem.
CSR says it is a known issue, they are working on a fix, but have NO IDEA when they will roll out an update for this problem.
Unfortunately, typical Sony at its best ( or worse, your pick). They, Sony, sucks.

aw ****. i have a feeling its going to be a couple of months... ion is predicted to get the jelly bean update "in the following weeks" after march... maybe august? or october for all versions to get the update? instead of fixing the extension now, they might fix it on the jelly bean update. even then, that is a big might. either way, facebook feeds for timescape will not be usable for probably another 6 months or more i guess i have to go back to using the facebook widget...

In case you guys haven't seen this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36050837#post36050837 You can get it working again using update timescape apks

Facebook S! Slow as hell & often "network connection error"

I really like the UI of Samsungs Facebook S! App over the web interface as well as the non Samung alternative.
Unfortunately I have been having problems loading the pages, as it takes very, very long or even fails completely due to a "network connection error" although I have HSDPA connection.
Am I the only one with this problem or do others share my demise?
BTW: The app is downloadable through the "Samsung Apps" app
Same. I kept getting network error but when I checked, the content was already successfully posted
Same here dude...even on my home wifi..i get this msg...had to stop using it...

for this reason i stopped using it, instead i'm using facebook from the market.
at least it has "Like" function. and fast.
This thing works on wifi only, too bad as it's a lot better than the facebook app from the marketplace.

I prefer the marketplace "Facebook for Android" - for some reason the Samsung one just bombards me with billions of f%&$£*% Farmville etc. updates, even though I've hidden them on the main site. If I ever find out how to get rid of the damn things on the Samsung one, I might try it again - I did prefer the look of it tbh.
Same problem on my side ...
The samsung app is slow and often doens't manage to connect to netword ( 3G or wifi)
I must confess that when you come from the iphone both application are pretty crap in comparison
But it is still much better that what I have on my wm6.5 phone
Guys, I recently flash a JG5 ROM, and Facebook S is not in the Samsung App is not in, Anyone know how to download this? I need this to sync my Facebook contact.
You don't want the samsung facebook app.
yeah same problem. Sometimes its fast most of the time its loads forever (i think its has lost connection)
Just have to wait for an update
Like the look of it though

All the FB apps on the Android are pants but then FB itself is one of the worst software implementations I have ever come across, both from a coding and from a user experience perspective. The Iphone app is the best do far but it's still pretty pants and I suspect that is down to really sloppy APIs.

Maybe i have setting problems. It works fast when i am on hsdpa but when i am on wifi i cant connect to facebook s! , it has the loading spinning thing and after 4 min wait nothing. The standard android facebook works on wifi.
If anyone knows the answer to no connection via wifi please help. I rather use this app.

[Q] Has your market been updated?

Hi,
I know there is somewhere around here the update of the new market.
However I have not installed it or anything and now my Desire Z has it, which makes me wonder if anyone having a Desire Z has also got it?
Because I also have a Desire and Wildfire but neither of them has got the update.
Thanks
*****EDIT ****** My wildfire and my Desire Z have got it, maybe I havent got it on the Desire since I am on a custom ROM.
Anyhow thanks
Google did say they would be rolling it out over the next few weeks. I haven't got it yet either.
But there's an .apk you can install if you want, over on the Apps forum.
I got it last night. It updated silently, without any notification, which i don't realy like...
New Market app looking good, just needs to get used to it. I don't mind for sharing an .APK if you want.

Market has always updated silently, it updates far more often than you know about, but most of the time it will just be bug fixes and not actual change so you will never notice.
The same method they use to update the market is how they can also remove banned apps you have installed (if installed via the market)

After they've removed "Free Advanced Task Manager" from my phone i switched to CM ROM (without GApps) for ~2 months and just now starting to use all that Google spyware-kit again. That's the only thing i hate about Google. Automatic app updates via Market su**s too IMO. They keep getting updates even if i've un-ticked "Allow automatic updating" box.

i updated my market app manually, but it seems this one is eating battery, there is a running program called alarmService Process: com.android.vending and its running... i didnt have this with my older market... is there any way to get the old version back?
It updated overnight sometime between tuedsay and wednesday. I liked the old one better, this one tries too hard to look like the app store
Don't think mine has updated, looks very much the same as before to me.

You'll know when it gets updated. They've revamped the looks of the interface quite a bit.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Android-Market-Update-Android-1.6-Developers-android,news-9351.html
Last time I checked mine wasn't updated
I received the update, but not sure if I care for the new coverflow rip-off UI. Unnecessary eye candy. My battery life seems to be noticeably worse after the market update, anyone else seeing this?
My biggest question is does the new marketplace work properly with a non-gmail login for my Google account. I HATE gmail, and do NOT want a gmail address - yet Android Marketplace forced me to add one to my otherwise perfectly valid existing Google account.
Now the bloody gmail address has taken over (without asking me) my default Google and YouTube logins. Grrrr.....
And gmail, I have now found, has no technical support facility. At all. Period. Just a user forum, which seems pretty useless so far.
What a shambles of a way to operate a company that is providing the operating bedrock to phones selling for £500!

This is completely off topic. If you want to rant about Google, start a new thread.
Mine was just updated last night.
I noticed mine was updated about 6 hours ago. My G2 was at 9% battery life when I found out. I downloaded Tweetcaster (yeah, I took a dive and re-started my Twitter account), set up the widget and I still had 9% when I plugged it in, that was all of 10-15 minutes though so I can't comment on battery life.
I actually like the new market. So far, navigation is just as easy as it was before and looks much more refined and sleek than it did before. Personally (after consulting my iTouch's market with the new Android market), I saw a bigger resemblence to the iOS and Android markets BEFORE the update (back when both used block buttons). Since the update, there's a lot more curves and graphics in the Android Market than iOS (and I've looked at both...just now) and it just looks more appealing.
This is just IMO, but good job Google, I like it.
Went back to stock in hope of receiving market update. Nothing so far, am on the european desire z
I got the new Market this afternoon. Looks flashier but I find the carousel thing at the top of the screen doesn't work too well, and it's hard to flick it to the exact app that you want to look at without pressing on it. Maybe that's just me though ?

It does take a minute to load, wherein it's laggy, but after a minute or two the carousel works just fine for me (short swipes usually just move it one over).

[Q] simple yet frustrating problem : music widget

Hi the default music widget that come with my xperia arc seems to have a bug.
It timestamp always show a 30minutes count first.
For example, a song that is 4:34 long, the time stamp on the left end show 30:00 and the time stamp on the right 34:34.
It as though it is started from 30 minutes. I tried a hard reset but to no avail. Please help
LOL.Yea. Guess its a firmware problem. I have it too. Will surely be looked into in the next iterations of the firmware.
This widget doesn't show up when using a launcher like ADW or LaucherPro
you should try doing a firmware repair through SEUS.

Still loads of bugs,
Cant get into friends with a force close.
Messages broken, they don't sync properly.
Also to rub salt into the wound, the have FULL access to your text messages with no legitimate reason. Poor effort. Might have to find the 1.5.4 apk.
I'll keep my 1.5.1 Works good even with friends. Anything after was a nightmare.
Im using Cyanogen V7.1-RC1 and seems like LauncherPro doesnt sync my Facebook events to LauncherPro Calendar widget or normal Calendar like it used (Theres only option to sync contacts in settings) before.
Not sure if the problem occured with Nightly build 119 which I used before, but Im pretty sure it worked with that, and ofc. with Sense based roms.
Is the problem now with LauncherPro or with Cyanogen? Or maybe even with the Facebook app?
Argh!!! Its all changed!! Suddenly about 15 mins ago it seemed to completely reload and now looks "improved" For the record, I previously force closed and cleared cache / data so this is just weird.
Cons:
Friends still force closes though
Pros:
Filters on friend feed.. Yay, finally get rid of pages of stupid game updates.
Looks and feels smoother. (I'm on Wifi though)
Craig
If you are having problems I really suggest running a fix_permissions from RM or from terminal, it solves most of my problems for me. I updated a few days ago but it suddenly changed for me too. The new news feed is pretty nice and I love how I can like comments now. Pages seem to be so-so but better than nothing. Chat actually seems to be working!
I don't use launcherpro but if I'm not mistaken, it uses its own client completely separate from the official facebook app so the new update shouldn't be affecting anything.

No notifications from Facebook Messenger

Even the best of us get problems. Problems we can't solve with our own knowledge.
Basically, running newest Facebook Messenger on my Xperia Arc S. Even though messages come in perfectly, I do not get any notifications about the received message. A tiny 1 appears on the Messenger icon, but that's all (attached screenshot). Chat Heads does not appear, no notification in the status bar (SystemUI) nor any vibration or sound. I have checked all notification settings, everything is turned on and should be working.
The only vibration, that happens at all, is when the Messenger is already open and someone else (than current conversation) sends me a message.
Current phone setup is Gin2JellyBean ROM (Android 2.3.7), version 2.5.2, with GB Lupus v2 kernel and 64 baseband.
I have tried clearing app data, reinstalling Messenger app, reinstalling ROM and kernel, changing baseband, tried also DooMKernel v22. On the internet, I found recommendations to not use more than one Facebook Android app, though it did not fix it either.
Does anyone have any ideas, possible solutions? Or has anyone occurred similar thing?
Just to add, I will not move over to another ROM.
Well, GB is quite old, and the apps keep getting updated so there may be something in GB breaking the notification mechanism. Did you check with someone else on the same ROM if they had the same problem?
You may also want to try with an older version of Facebook messenger and see if it works.

I was expecting people with same ROM to post here, if they have such issue or not.
GB is the only firmware, that currently works out for me, thereby I do not wish to change ROMs. None of the ICS ROMs has satisfied me yet.
Will try out older version of the app.
EDIT: Older version (2.7.2) made no difference, old design, but still same issue with the notifications.

try flashing framework-res from another rom. If problem is still there, include systemUI. I had this one problem before about notifications because frameworkxml doesn't stack with custom systemUI.
Did you freeze google play services? Its the main cause of not getting notifications. Btw i had done that so i didnt get.
Edit: on ics roms also the same stuff. Not get notifications. Maybe the app has some issue.

Hmm, this may be a problem, as framework-res is tightly linked to many parts of the system and changing it may cause issues. I will try it out and see if I can fix it.

I doubt the issue lies there, though will try it out.
EDIT: I must have misread the first time. I never froze that app, as it is vital at my daily usage.
Time to update on this issue. I just installed an ICS ROM, Anzumi 1.3, and the issue is still around. Using stock kernel and stock baseband from .587 firmware (which is 77, if I am not mistaken) and newest Messenger.
Gonna do a last try with stock firmware some time soon...
EDIT: Attached picture of logcat when I receive a Facebook message. Starting with the first line of 12-15 20:37:22:801
EDIT again: Using older version (2.7.2-release) now works, will try it out for more time.
So its app issue or maybe we are missing some lib files for them to work. We have to check it on stock ics. If it works there then we can confirm the rom developers removed some libs for space or whatsoever reason
Edit: I'm using kitkat and i face same issue here

Since the app failed to work on GB and ICS both (and now as well KitKat), then I am feeling the issue lies within the application.

So I can conclude this update solves that issue.
