Hey guy i was wondering if my current android version it's an official release from google or not. Because i want to update from 4.1.1 to 4.2.1.
Im also a bit confused when i read the guides to root and install the rom.
Thanks a lot!
Welcome to the club! Have you rooted and installed a custom ROM or are you on stock? If you're looking for over the air (OTA) updates from your carrier this isn't the place. I would recommend the first post or two in your respective carrier's development forum (Verizon, Sprint, etc.) to get you going.
If you open Maps & check Menu >> Settings >> about it should tell you which Device (variant) you have (the hardware is the same). Any GSM Galaxy Nexus can be flashed to Google stock yakju or takju images.

Hey all, I'm new Samsung Galaxy Nexus User so I need little bit help, hope someone can help me!
I I have bought Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.1 ICS and I updated it to 4.0.2 in about phone section in settings! and it does not find newer update for it!
Is there any official update.zip for 4.0.2 to update it to 4.0.3?
I bought this phone from Finland and it's not Verizon 4G LTE phone!
If I update it to 4.0.3 then can I keep my apps and all other? (dalvik vm must cleaned..?)
and Does 4.0.3 have Estonian language?
(I don't want to brick that phone so that's why I am asking help..
+ why Gameloft games is not working on Galaxy Nexus? /:
and what is the best and most stable + newest kernel for Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks if someone can help me!
The latest OTA from Google on the GSM Nexus is 4.0.2, hope that helps!
If you want 4.0.3, you'll have to go the custom rom route.

Yes, it is a known fact that rooting requires you to "oem unlock" you phone... which clears all the data on the phone, including the internal storage... hope you read that before proceeding...
4.0.3 was never published as an official update...
Not everyone got/gets the 4.0.4 OTA update...
And if you have the CDMA Galaxy Nexus... all updates will come from Google by they will be co-branded by Verizon (i.e., they will have Verizon proprietary files needed for CDMA/LTE)... so you cannot get an "official" ICS update without Verizon involved...
I would assume that the answer would be yes considering all the developers that are on this version, but I'm not 100% sure anymore. I decided to search through some threads & some of the posts are quite contradictory. I flashed to takju in order to upgrade to the preview version of Jelly Bean. If it's not getting the OTA, I plan to flash back to yakju.
Yes. But if you want a more instant JellyBean on your phone, check out this ROM on your part of the forum.

Canada use lte GN?
Hi guys. I'm from Brazil and the Galaxy Nexus is named Galaxy X around here, but it's the usual GSM thing that is out for AT&T. Anyway, I'm running stock ICS (4.0.2) and I checked Internet and discovered that several people are already running Jelly Bean due an OTA update by Google. But when I check if there are any updates on the phone, it just tells that it is updated. My question is: is it alright or I am missing an update? Should I root and use CM10? Will it take too long to get stable? Thank you, greetings from Brazil!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.cbruegg.officialupdate try this and tell us what is says
A little info. You could flash a Google stock image or choose one of the numerous custom ROMs available, only you can deside which is right for you.

Only yakju and takju builds of GSM Galaxy Nexuses are updated by Google, Galaxy X has a yakjuvs build and is updated by Samsung. Samsung promissed end of August as a deadline for JB on yakjuvs (no 4.0.4 for yakjuvs).
If you don't want to wait, there are a ton of tutorials explaining how to flash a factory image, just get the jelly beans factory image and do it, but, be aware that you will loose all data in your phone (and by all, I mean ALL data, including "sdcard" data). If you don't want to lose all your data, cross your fingers and hope that Samsung deliver what they've promissed...
If you still need to ROOT and are worried about losing your data you can use the Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit.
Hi just got a new I9250 and I noticed its running 4.0.4
Is this the latest for this device?
I would have thought it would be at least 4.1. something. I tried to do an update but it says its at the latest level.
how can I tell what country its from as I bought it grey market from thinkofus in Hong Kong.
Any help much appreciated
It depends where you got it from - if it's a 'yakju' model then you should be on JB, if it's a non-Google maintained handset then I think they're still on ICS
No it is not the latest version of Android as EddyOS has said in the post above, however it may be the latest that your build of Android has (many regional variants of yakju). You can however flash it to yakju (Google's stock build) and get the latest versions of Android as soon as they come out (of course taking into account the batching of OTAs). Refer to this.
Hey guys, much to my dismay I found that the Gnex I ordered (from fido) runs Yakjuxx. What has me confused is that it seems that Yakjuxx is still under the heading "Maguro". I understand that if I stayed stock the updates would be handled by Samsung (of which I have no intention of doing). So my question is: Can I still flash Maguro roms/kernals to my Yukjuxx device? I know that there is a conversion thread so that you can recieve OTA updates from google, but is that needed to flash normal Maguro roms to your Yakjuxx device as well? Or will I be able to flash Maguro roms to a Yukjuux device without any problems? Sorry if this sounds confusing.
Have a great day,
thank-you for any help!
Anyone?
