Hi there!
Well, got the note 2 (n7100) last week and I'm really amazed with it! But unfortunately I got this issue, every time I'm listening to music and the
screen turns off the music starts to gag (or lag/stutter...) after a min or so, as if it was a “slow” phone that couldn’t manage a simple task of playing music…
I have the unlock version, stock ROM and the music player is also the stock one. Any ideas of what can be? How to solve it?
Thank you!
I encountered this problem once too.
I restarted and was fine.

Hi!
That worked but the problem was coming back after a while...I also suspected that I should transfer all music files to the internal SD instead of playing from the external one...I'm trying that now and let's see how it goes from now on!
Thank you!

Nop...I still have the same problem!
Phone goes into standby mode and one or 2 min after music start and stops. The only way to get it to play it well is to hit the power button (getting the screen on).
I moved musics from external to internal and reboot the phone...what can I do more? Restore it to factory??
Need help...this issue is really anoyng as I really like to hear music on my phone and I can't... :crying:
Thank you!!
I have the same problem as well. I can't imagine a quad core cpu should have problems decoding an mp3. I am praying that it will be fixed in 4.1.2.
I tried using a different player but it had the same problem.

I have been having his problem as well. I have tried different music players too. installed different ROMS: The one that solved this problem for me is poweramp (u need to buy it after 14 day trial). Try poweramp, but change the music buffer size to 750ms. This solves the problem for me. But it is just stupid that u need to buy a third party software to sort this issue after buying such an expensive phone.. Do tell me if this solves the issue or not plz thanks

Strange problem just started. My Sprint GN is not rooted.
Just this week, after playing music or podcasts in my car over bluetooth, when I disconnect the bluetooth (turn my car off) the media volume on the phone resets to zero. After noticing it, I would disconnect the bluetooth with the screen on and I can see the media volume control pop-up on the screen and reset it self to zero.
My phone is always on vibrate, but this just started happening out of the blue. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Any thoughts? Thanks.
Same thing happened to me last night. Kinda.
When I reconnected to Bluetooth my music wouldn't play. Trying to figure out why I noticed my media volume was zero'd out. I turned it back up and it still wouldn't play any audio.
I rebooted the phone and it worked just fine.

Reboots have not fixed it for me.
Solution?
I had the exact same problem with my Verizon GNex. I uninstalled Songza and Turntable.FM, and the problem went away. Not sure which app was the offender, but I didn't really use either of them anyways.

I was experiencing the same issues on my Verizon GNex and I removed Turntable.fm and it seams to have fixed the issue so it looks like that is the culprit.

Confirmed, just uninstalled Turntable.fm and it's back to normal. Thanks.
I had the same issue on my HTC One X...uninstalled Turntable.fm and the problem went away, thanks for the heads up!
HELLO EVERYONE
I'm having issue regarding the music chopping/skipping while listening from the headphones.
please help!!
Are you on .126 Rom? Because on there it was caused by some beats profiles, I would try disabling beats for a while and see.

I was also had this issue when I was on the 1.26 rom playing local stored music via the inbuilt player, but it was more a a small pause. As I was in a location where the data to the phone kept changing, EG 3G, E, H, I was able to determine the pause occurred when the phone changed it's data transfer type. I am no longer in that enviroment so I can not test the newer roms.
I M on 1.28 sense version, if you meant this ..sorry I'm new to all these terms Rom n all.
Kind of same here
Hi,
Not sure if it is the same problem, but I also have issues with the music chopping and clicking.
I noticed it is happening everytime the data connection changes indeed (loss of 3G in the sub, siwtch to wifi, etc...)
I asked HTC support about it but still no answer.
Will try tomorrow with Beats off.
I am using a european version (tegra) and the latest factory rom (1.29.401.11).
Can't wait for the, to release a correction, it is really annoying.
I'm suffering with a similar issue. Latest software.
Same issue here
I'm having the same problem, on version 1.29.161.13
Has only recently started doing it, where audio will skip/click with Beats Profile on OR with the HTC Sound Enhancer on. Switching these off resolves the issue. This happens when using stock music player or watching video. Switching to airplane mode makes no difference.
The fact it has only recently started doing it leads me to think it must be fixable... any ideas?!
Are you listening to your music over Bluetooth headphones/earphones?
i take it a reboot doesn't fix it?
Music skips/chopping on HTC ONE X
i am also having a same problem it also do the same thing in video playing also while streaming youtube video or play any HD video :crying: plzz help i came from galaxy s2 and hating this.....
When you stream from YouTube press pause wait about 10 secs, then play, the cracks and pops should be reduced. To eliminate them allow the vid to completely load before playing. I think is a flash problem, bound to be fixed in the next update.

A reboot does seem to help the issue at least for a little while, but it soon comes back.

I've been listening over the stock headphones, tried it this evening with my Pioneers and same issue.
Sometimes when I go to sound enhancer in the video player settings the list comes up blank with no options, and I wonder if that's related to the issue. It seems like the software doesn't realise that the Beats profile is on, so it keeps trying to turn it on again, which causes the clicks and skipping.
I tried turning it on and off through the notification bar, and then through the music player (which has more options than the video player) and then returning to the video player which seemed to resolve it until I exited and went back in later...

The issue happens no matter the source, so it's not Flash.

this is 99% not hardware. i'm so tempted to say 100% but then if it is hardware i'd be wrong
this is software. have you tried using an alternative app to play the music? such as poweramp?

I think it's software, but not the app itself. It's the same with Spotify, so i'd be included to think it's a driver of some sort, or something Sense is doing.
Anyone tried a custom ROM? I'm using MaXimus but haven't re-tested the audio since flashing. That's still got Sense, though, so probably not the best example.
Definitely driver. This problem crept up on ne After I flashed viper x. So everything I go into underground parking, my music starts to get choppy

Mine has had the same issue for a while. I've tried doing what you outlined above but with no luck
Though I didn't use ARHD 6.1.1, do you think that will make any difference?
I was hoping this would be fixed in the 4.4.2 update but it appears to still be there. While listening to anything in my vehicle with bluetooth A2DP the audio seems to cutout, like a bad connection. The song continues to play and sometimes I see the information on the radio screen disappear, as if the phone lost connection.
This happens no matter where I place the phone. Normally it sits in the storage pocket just below the radio but also happens in the mount on my dashboard as well as my center console.
It seems to happen less often if I plug in the charger, and even less if I force the screen to stay awake. I have not had this issue with my Sensation 4G or my Galaxy S3.
Any help is appreciated.

I have tried every combination of different settings and the only thing that seems to help, although does not resolve altogether, is to plug in the charger and tell the screen to stay on during charging. May be something related to the sleep mode putting the CPU at too low of a minimum.
I am looking at other stereos for my vehicle as it may be an issue with the stereo just not being fully compatible with the newer bluetooth version on the Note 3. I need to test this to be sure.
I have the same issue. My screen is always on and charging but it still stutters on occasion. I used to have the HTC One and it had the same issue. I don't think there is a fix except to try a custom rom.

I have the older 300BTX. One thing that you made me realize is that on 4.3 I was running leankernel the whole time, and with KitKat I was running the stock kernel until this morning.
Going to the gym in an hour and I'll test the bluetooth today to see if switching kernels fixes the issue.
*EDIT*
Didn't skip on me at all on the way home today. This leads me to believe that your skipping problem is kernel-related. Give leankernel a try and let us know if that fixed it for you too?
I was just going to post the same as Kalm. I tried the new v2.0 of LeanKernel and no stutter. Also my Bluetooth MAP is working consistently again with my Ford Sync system. I played about 20mins of music on my Jawbone Jambox with no stutter also.
think this is something specific to a chip. I can stream pandora with pandora control and stream pandora and music over str8 bluetooth via hondalink with no issue.
I think I am going to wait and see what happens when I upgrade to the S5 in a few weeks. If the problem persists I will probably start looking at new head units for my vehicle. I am already eyeing the Pioneer AppRadio 3 LOL

I am trying to remain stock, once I start flashing ROMs and Kernels it becomes an addiction for me LOL
Hi, i have note 2 n7100 running stock rom UAE with superSU and twrp 2.8.7.. My phone has been freezing a lot if I just start it normally.. the phone only has sound for 5 minutes and then it starts to freeze and i can no longer play any audio files.. My solution to this was to play the music player before it reaches 5 minutes mark and it will run smoothly.. Is there any solution to this? From my readings, I think i have SDS phone with insane chip.. I tried to flash perseus kernel but i failed(screen went blank.. have to restore from backup again).. i tried to use custom rom as well but all custom rom stucked at boot screen.. Is there anything I can do to use my phone normall?
Its not SDS, SDS victims' phones only have a white static when turned on and is pretty much bricked. Yours still runs somehow. I dont know what's exactly wrong with yours though. Have you tried using Clean Master? Large amounts of junk makes alot of lag. Too much and weird stuff starts to happen. Also there may be a problem with your sound chip.

Thank you for your reply.. finally someone replied to this post.. i am using a freshly installed rom.. so there should be no problem with large amount of junks.. can i change this sound chip? Is it possible? I tried using the phone with a running music player and for 11 hours it went rly great.. as soon as i stop playing any audio files.. heavy lag and constant freezing will occur.. i searched for audio problems in the forum and none was similar like mine.. huhu
Is your ROM Cyanogenmod based? If yes it is a problem with HWC, which the devs is working on right now and there is not much you can do about it for now...

I have the same issue sometimes, I've read around the web and it seems to be a mix of software and hardware related, I read a guy suggest removing and putting back the case (in case you have one) and I did that and the sound came back, haven't had the issue again.

Hmm, I keep mine out of a case,.. Yeah I'm not sure what it is, it's a 50/50 between some say software and some say hardware. I would asume that software would of been fixed by now, either Samsung or 3rd party

So I found a solution for the issue in my case, it does seem to be software but it's really weird cause the issue continues in any firmware, it started when I was on 6.0.1 PI2, then I flashed Nougat and had the same problem (I hated it and battery drain was killing me) I went back to 6.0 and changed to the PK2 version and the issue continued, it was really weird cause it would cut out in audio messages, games but not music, I also tried every single suggestion on every forum and post I could find EXCEPT the Soundabout app, today I gave up, installed soundabout, selected media to speakers and bam, problem solved, I still need further testing, but it seems ok for now, keep in mind that I also have "prevent USB audio routing" on and "Easy Mute" off.
