Hello I been trying to use the ktoonz kernel for some time now and every time I install it after reboot I get a black screen after. The rom is compatible cause a lot of people have it up and running with the jelly bomb 11.0 rom. Anyone has any idea why this is happening? I searched the forums and I can't find a solution any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
I would not think you would need to flash this kernel over the ROM since Jelly Bomb 11 comes with this kernel already installed.
Having said that you should not have a problem flashing the kernel again, as long as you flashed the correct one. Did you flash the TW kernel or the AOSP kernel?

I flashed the from itself and I got the black screen so I downloaded the TW kernel same result then I tried the aosp and the black screen remains I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Jelly Bomb is a TW ROM so you need the TW kernel. The AOSP kernel will not work.
You may need to wipe all (data, cache and Dalvik) after flashing this ROM.

Did you run the kernel cleaner script after flashing the kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...5&d=1347395869
I believe that will do the trick, flash kernel, then flash kernel cleaner script.

you're not alone I have the exact same issue but mines boot up and then non stop flickering of screens and menus going black then coming back when i tap the screen. Im on Phantom Hackers rom (2.1 rooted / mostly stock) I tired the kernel cleaner but was told to run it BEFORE I flask ktoonsez kernel. No dice I got the same effect.
I should probably try the cleaner after flashing the kernel huh? .....brb.
Edit: No dice - same effect flashing the cleaner before and after flashing the kernel.
have to go back to freeza "LJ7 Kernel with bootanimation support" only one that works for me.
Can't understand what would be causing this.

Hello all,
So I am an avid ROM flasher (I try at least 2 a week), and recently when I try to install Sense 3.0 or 3.5 ROMs I have an issue; The ROM flashes and boots up all nice and good, but the startup application that runs by default on a fresh install doesn't show up. All I get is the wallpaper and the notification bar w/ clock, battery etc. but thats it, I can't get passed this to any other screen . After all that the only way I can get back to recovery to flash a working ROM is through a battery pull.
Like I always do with new ROMs, I
nandroid
factory wipe/reset
wipe cache a few times
wipe dalvik cache a couple times
flash GruesomesWipeAll.zip
then flash ROM
The wierd part is that I can flash Stock Barebones just fine along with any other ICS ROM with no issues.
So I guess what im getting at is, is there im doing something wrong i.e. flashing or wiping?
PS. my SD is partitioned
PSS. the ROMs that arent working for me are
The Express
EnergyROM
And one other that I forgot

Try a reflash of recovery see if that helps. Also wipe everything except sdcard and battery stats 2 times then flash the rom to see if its still happening

For some reason now, my phone won't take kernels anymore. I can install ROM's and everything else, but when i try and flash a different kernel my phone won't keep it. It will reboot fine, but when i go and look in the settings to see if the kernel is there it is not installed. I do the usual clear dalvik and the cache then flash the kernel. It says it installed it, but it doesn't. Has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so how do you fix it? I have also completely wiped the phone and that did not help either. I have a HTC EVO 4g. I hope someone can help me with this problem.
Hey Partyman this may sound silly but did you double check that you're not flashing the wrong kernel with the rom you're flashing?

Lewa OS. The kernel is mason gb v15. I never had a problem before until I used gruesome wolfs script that is supposed to clean everything to install a ROM.

keep in mind not every kernel will work with every custom rom, sometimes it will say installed but it really didnt. other times your phone just will boot loop at the white evo screen
Well just to let you know....Problem solved on installing kernel's. I changed over to Smelkus Mod and it worked perfect. My Anon RA must have went bad or something.
Mod can you please close this thread now. Thanks.
Ok guys, these are modded versions of TDJ's tools to add the preload partition. This should allow you to wipe cache and dalvik without jacking up the symlinks. Also for you guys having issues installing a ROM, the superwipe should fix that. First flash the ROM and reboot (important), then if you are having issues flash the super wipe and then the ROM again. Reboot and you should be good.
Thanks again TDJ!!! You rock bro.
Note to other developers: Feel free to link here from your thread, just don't re-upload them please. Thanks

I used these scripts installing a ROM and I am having very serious issues. I was using Clockwork and when I rebooted I got stuck in a boot loop. I booted back into recovery but I was not getting fully back into recovery. I tried several times. I finally ODINed back to stock but I can't get the ****ing phone to boot up. It gets toa popup that says ""unfortunatley google partner setup has stopped" and then if I clear that "Google account manager has stopped", "google calender storage has stopped""unfortuantely the process com. android.phone has stopped". ****. I have tried ODIN to 3.5 stock and 4.0.3 both having similar issues.
Anyone have any idea, may have absolutley nothing to do with these scripts but any ideas would be very much appreciated.
What are you running and what are you trying to flash? Wouldn't be the scripts as they only wipe, format, align the partitions.

I was running CWM 6.0.2.9 touch and trying to flash the StockWalk ROM. I don't know if you have seen something like this before but it seems like I am totally unable to install any GAPPS even when flashing stock ROM in ODIN. I had flashed the same ROM before attempting to use the scripts, the reason was that I was unable to add my google account (may be a defect in the ROM but others are saying they have not had issue).
*when I say install GAPPS I am just refering to the ones that install on TW ROMS, I am not flashing a GAPPS file of any kind

OK so I thought I knew enough to not feel like a noob, but here I am with three questions.
First question is what is a "preload problem"?
Second question is this will only work on 4.1.2, and not 4.2.2 (CM 10.1)?
And the third question is will using the original DS wipes mess something up?
T mobiles 4.1.2 loads a preboot partition. Wiping cache with anything but these scripts also wipes these partitions. This script is modified to not do that. No preboot partition = boot loop.
Thus, if you're on anything BUT Tmobiles 4.1.2 you don't need this script and there's no advantage to using it.

Do you do a clean wipe every time you install a new rom? Clean wipe cache, dalvik, data, system, internal sd? Try downloading rom thru pc then transfer to your sd.

I would definitely try a different kernel. Maybe your phone can only handle stock kernels or something which Jedi doesn't use. Having a CM kernel still lingering through a flash while running Jedi can't be too good either, it's possible that's what happened? Go back to just stock rooted and see if the problem remains.

That's where you will find a stock ROM. Flash the factory image with Odin. If you don't know what stock is or how to flash a kernel it's best to go back to stock and don't run custom ROMS. Just read the thread I linked and post any questions about the process in that thread.
You can flash the factory image using Mobile Odin from the Play Store and there's an option to keep root.
