LG SPECTRUM 2 VS930 ESSENTIAL TIPS & TRICKS
(UPDATED SEPT 30, 2013)
Spectrum 2 is equipped with a 4.7 inch True HD IPS screen, which means instead of the oft-criticized PenTile display,
the display uses a regular RGB matrix. The rest of the specs look quite enticing as well, including 8-megapixel camera,
the dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 S4 processor under the hood, NFC support and Android 4.0.4 installed.
There is 16GB of native storage and Global radio

*** A WORD ABOUT CASES ***
The hard case that comes in two pieces and snaps on does not fit the stock Spectrum 2 very well. I had to apply a ton of force to get it to "snap" on and it still didn't fit quite right. I believe this is because the Spectrum 2 ships with the wireless charging back cover. This cover is about 1mm thicker than the back cover without the wireless charging coil. You can order the thinner back cover on Verizon's site for about $10. Its a nice case otherwise- just be prepared to spend another $10 for the thinner cover. Oh yeah, this is the case (it comes in different colors): http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORANGE-RUBB...268648?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item58970c0228
These cases fit very well with the stock back cover: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACK-HYBRI...559400?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35c1da0c68 . These come in many different colors and patterns. I kinda like this one best.

The Spectrum 2 also needs an unlocked bootloader and CM10. Please show this great phone some love!!!

I am hoping someone unlocks the boot-loader.

man o man. I sure hope some Devs jump on this device ...but its sure looking like slow progress. Its great with ICS even locked down in LG land. It will be a beast with a CM10 build.

Question on cases
Hello !
I've just purchased the LG Spectrum 2 and ordered two cases, which arrived the same day as my new phone. Everything was fine until I tried to install one of these new cases. No way would they fit. I tried installing the covers without the wireless charging back and they seemed to fit fine. Is this okay to do or would it make my phone too susceptible to dust, etc.? It seems to fit pretty snugly. I may go ahead and get the other back anyhow, but wondered about doing this. There aren't many cases that'll fit unless I do one or the other. Thanks for your help ! :victory:

I'm nowhere near being a 'soon to be', more like a 'you can do that!?!?' dev. LMAO. But there maybe some hope coming soon........

I just ran into the same problem. I had to order the standard door....... I tried to use mine without the cover but apparently the antennas work through the cover and I couldn't get cell reception without it on. I looked at dozens of different kinds of cases on several sites and not one of them mentioned this issue.
UPDATE: The standard door arrived in the mail this morning. Its about an 1/8th inch thinner and allows this case to fit perfectly.

Like 1.2 gb.. Its a little bit of a tricky process.

groups unstacking at random
Someone I know is having a problem with folders on this phone. I don't own it, but do any of you have an idea? His description:
"The OS allows you to put your apps in folders, which I wanted to do because (a) it makes finding and using them easier and (b) I hate a messy interface. But, frustratingly, it seems to undo itself completely at random; I spend half an hour organizing all the apps in folders, and then I go back a while later and everything is strewn all over five pages, completely unorganized. I don't see any reason why this is happens, and there doesn't seem to be any setting or preference or whatever to make it stay the way I want it. This is supremely irritating, and worse, it obviates the whole point of being able to make folders."

Just be aware that if you remove the standard back cover that came with the LG Spectrum 2 and replace it with a different OEM back cover, you not only loose the ability to wireless charge the the device but also loos the ability to use the NFC option as the NFC chip and antenna are incorporated into that stack back cover of the device.
I also believe too that you will loose signal strength if you replace the cover as well. Its amazing how much LG has built into the back cover of the device. If you didn't research it before hand you would never know.
That is all...

So, how are you rooted with CWM, when the bootloader for the Spectrum 2 is locked and there is no procedure available to unlock the bootloader as of yet? You sure you have the Spectrum 2 and not the original Spectrum, or are you just mistaken about having CWM installed as your recovery?
Remember, just because you downloaded CMW from the app store, doesn't mean you have CMW recovery on the device.

I've been trying to get an Apple BT keyboard to work with the Vibrant, but no go yet. It was working with a G1. I'll get back on that project next week.
I bought one becasue i have multiple uses for a device like this
It does not work as is...maybe a software fix needed
oh you bought which?
Mini Bluetooth Keyboard??
what u mean it doesn't work as is?
wouldn't it be better if there was a pouch to keep both of them ...
i'm looking for a pouch with two slots...u should too.. it'll make it alot easier to handle keyboard on the go!!

Samsung Vibrant Does NOT Support HID
Hey everyone,
I've been looking for Bluetooth controllers and Keyboards for the Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile). According to my research the ITON Mini Bluetooth Keyboard uses a Bluetooth driver called HID to communicate with other devices.
The Samsung Vibrant does NOT support HID. This means the ITON Mini Keyboard will NOT work with the Vibrant.
However.... there may be a work around. BlueInput (Google it) is a HID Driver sold on the Android market for $10.00. So in theory... ITON Mini Keyboard + BlueInput Driver + Vibrant = Working Solution.
However, I've read many post about the BlueImput Driver which state, it doesn't work on the Vibrant.
The only other options are to wait for the Vibrant to get Android 2.2 or a custom Cyanogen ROM which supports HID.
I flashed teamwhiskey's Onyx rom (froyo with touchwiz software removed and black theme) and my bluetooth keyboard (uses HID) works flawlessly. The rom has been completely stable so far and has a lot of other features, so if you guys are up to it you may just want to flash to froyo rather than buying unproven software.

Can you please post a YouTube video of your accomplishment? I would love to flash my Vibrant with a new Rom but I've only used Cyanogen Mod. I've never heard of TeamWhiskey and am hesitant to take a risk. I really don't want to brick my phone.

You don't have to take my word for it, check out the vibrant development forum. Team whiskey's roms, along with eugenes macnut roms, are possibly the most popular and well respected roms available for vibrant at this time.
I've checked them out and they seem legit. I'm interested in flashing Onyx but I need my swype keyboard. Do you know if it's painless to have my cake and eat it too?
I've also seen that there is a front facing camera jack for the vibrant... Very interested in that as well

Correct. I just paired a Sony Wireless Keypad for the PS3 to this Vibrant running Macnut v12! Just go to Wireless settings, Bluetooth, make device discoverable, power up the keypad by pressing the left blue button before powering the device, pair devices, and type whatever pin number the phone asks you to type on the keypad. It took me a few times to go through it but I am amazed that it works while the phone is being charged.
Now see if I can pair the keypad again after I power it down?
At least you can find this keypad almost anywhere Playstation 3 accessories are sold.

I can tell you that after a couple of weeks of use, the battery is lasting one full day. You need to perform 3-4 full cycles charge and discherge to get full capacity but now is more than acceptable.
I'm using it for business and I do not loose any call.
The UMTS 3G data is perfectly working as well as all the others features it promises.
Fully recommended froma myself... but I'm not an expert.

So I got a ZP200 and updated the firmware to the latest 20120508 one. Now pressing search button in home screen doesn't bring up Google Search any more. It vibrates a bit but nothing else. Long press still brings up Voice Search, though.
The new firmware enables the full 1GB of RAM. It's pretty nice to be able to switch between many apps.

It's from Zopo's site: http://www.zopomobile.com/xiazai.php
No, it's not ICS. Still 2.3.6.
So I figured out why the search button stopped working after the update. The new firmware is missing GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in /system/app.
I installed Google Search from Play Store. Then made a copy of com.google...googlequicksearchbox-1.apk (can't remember the full name) in /data/app. Uninstalled Google Search in Play Store. Moved the copy to /system/app. Renamed it to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk. Changed permissions to rw-r--r--. And I now have a functioning search button!
Of course you need to root it first. All the file operations (copy, move, etc...) were done with AntTek Explorer (File Manager) but I think any root file manager will do.

Hi stephen,
After being messed about ordering the dami y5 i have took plunge and paid for the zopo 200 as only brought the gphone merely for iphone lookalike, but now i wanted a bigger screen and more reliable phone.
Anything i need to know as regards does it come rooted? if not will superoneclick do the job?
I know only some things from having the gphone f27 but the zopo will be a newbie to me.
Looking forward to this thread and mostly my phone.
I noticed you mention something as regards get the full 1gb unlocked, why is it not already functional?
have you been able to get a protective case for yours?
Also what phone is the zopo 200 version a copy of as i see the 100 is copy of the htc evo.
I will be playing and trying things out when i get it and anything i can help with i surely will
Best wishes

It doesn't come rooted but rooting it is real easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26268246&postcount=3
The phone was shipped with a kernel that limits the memory access to 512MB. The new shipment in China is now with the new kernel. I don't know what you will get. If the build number is ZP200_120508 or later than you have the latest.
Personally I HATE protective case. No phone is thin enough and I don't need to make it worse.
I don't know what it's copied from. Don't think it (or ZP100) had a specific target for that. They both look really generic.
Wow them cases have got to you, you want to talk about it?
I was thinking about the thin rubber type just for the back only to protect from scratches, tyre type design one like for the ipod, iphone as i got my 2 boys one for their ipods and and gphone, nice and slim and perfect for the job.
Think one's your HATING are the ott chunky one's, which i agree are pointless.
Thank you for link, i have read full thread already and saved everything and will follow carefully, read twice then act.
Really looking forward to it's arrival.
Did you get 2 batteries with your's or had to go and buy another spare as from what i read, only downside to this phone is battery life.
Best wishes
Pete

Wow them cases have got to you, you want to talk about it?
I was thinking about the thin rubber type just for the back only to protect from scratches, tyre type design one like for the ipod, iphone as i got my 2 boys one for their ipods and and gphone, nice and slim and perfect for the job.

The battery life is the number 1 issue with this otherwise great phone of value. It was originally designed with an optional add-on battery in the form of a back cover. Unfortunately, the add-on battery caused so many problem (flickering screen, for example) they canceled it after the first batch.
Zopo is working on a new higher capacity (2000mAh) replacement battery with a thicker back cover. It's scheduled to become available by the end of June. It will increase the thickness of the phone from 12.5mm to 14.5mm. http://bbs.zopomobile.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13248&extra=page=1
I don't know if it will become the standard battery but my guess is it will. We will have to find a way to get the replacement parts from China somehow. And it's obviously having an impact on the case design. Zopo had some cases for the existing one, but they will have to redesign them along with the new battery.
The phone surface is tacky enough for me. So no case needed for me.

And BTW. Hero H6000 is identical to ZP200. The official firmware update files from Zopo even have the name H6000 in it.
Some good reading there stephen.
Interesting on battery information, i wonder if i maybe get the newer one? doubt it as they need to sell the current stock.
I used translator to give me an idea on what they are upto.
Have you got gps working?
Cheers fella

Yes. That's the same one I have installed since the first of the month.
The latest news from Zopo forums is 4.0 is almost done but they are stuck on bringing in 3D functionality. I was guessing that's the holdup since no other MT6575 phone is 3D capable. I wish they will just release a version without 3D first since not many people depend on that anyways.
On other MediaTek related news: It seems the new dual-core MT6577 phones are near their release. There's really high anticipation over there in China for this low cost performance platform. No clue if Zopo is working on one but the first couples of them will be by Huawei and Lenovo.
If anyone is looking to buy a MT6575 phone and can wait a bit, I'd advice to wait for the MT6577 phones. In addition to the obvious performance advantage, they will come with Android 4.0 installed. No update or wait needed.

[Q] New Nexus 7 expectations.

Hi guys, just few questions if possible.
I am with android for several years now and my latest android device was i337 SGS (ATT Branded) and we're having a lot of problems with bootloader not unlocked and stuff. Is there a such problems with this device or there is no locks of any kind, and in general I do understand this is pure google but can we expect CWM recovery and ROMs for this little guy ? I can't live without my CM on my android.
And in general people who have it anything you like and most importantly don't like so far ? I orfdered mine 32GB version should be here I guess on 30th a bit after.
Thanks all.
P.S.
Anyone know where to get a case and screen protector for it but not for $20 for a damn screen protector ? I looked up pictures it looks like you can't really use old screen protector for new device ..can you ?

Please remember that from now on (unless that changed and I didn't knew): nexus = no bootloader lock at all. The nexus line was always devices that google wanted to support development and therefore there are no locks. So far, there's already CWM and TWRP available (in one day ) Hmm as far as CM is concerned, it should come soon as they're merging to make cm10.2. As far as accessories are related, you may want to check the accessory section of the forum.
Hope this helps!

that's what's up !
I guess next thing to get for this baby is wireless charger. I work with phones all day and charging port is is always getting messed up in the phones and tablets so I guess it's good idea to have something that does not require to insert cable. I see any QI Certified product will do, anyone have advice on inexpensive but good quality one ?

[Q] Just got the pro 12.2, question.

Just got this a couple days ago and been noticing that it's seems to be getting laggy on me for some reason the more I use it.
Any suggestions you guys have for helping that? What are you guys doing right out of box with this, any must do mods etc? You guys have been awesome help in the past. And I know people have been working on things already and I thank you for that.
I noticed flash player says it's not supported for 4.4 and when it takes me to website it says it's not available, can this be true? I thought I read that someone made a flash player for it? Can anyone point me in the correct direction to download the correct one if it's true that one will work?
Also, any other cases/ keyboards out besides the Samsung one? Went to BB and that's all they had.
Thanks all, I did read other post but they are mostly about the 8" ones.

change the screen animation to 0.5.
can't comment on the flash thing since the only videos I watch are on youtube.
There's the Logitech keyboard/case.
yes, the tab pro forum is filled with threads about the 8.4 one.
I have the pro 10.1. I followed the instructions on the following website and have flash working just fine on my tablet
http://nexus7.wonderhowto.com/how-t...r-nexus-7-running-android-4-4-kitkat-0152824/
For cases, check out Amazon. I found a decent selection there.
For lag problems, find the app Cache Cleaner NG in the app store. I have it set to run every morning. If the tablet starts to lag again after heavy use, I will run it again.

I got a case and keyboard from Amazon. The case is a WAWO Samsung Galaxy Note & Tab PRO 12.2 Tablet Smart Fold Case Cover (white) which comes in several colors for $13.99. Once you snap the case onto your tablet it is very secure and will not fall out. If anything it's a little difficult to remove which I like. The keyboard is a SANOXY® Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad/iPhone 4.0 OS/Android/Window Mobile/Symbian Smartphone/MAC/PC (white) for $13.46. It looks great with my white tablet and white case. If your looking for the perfect mouse for your tablet then you'll want a Samsung S Action Bluetooth Mouse. They come in white or black and have the same stitch pattern as your tablet. The right button functions as back, middle button functions as home, and side button functions as recent, so no need to reach for your tablet when watching on a big screen.

NFC - unable to use

hello,
i searched (using the search function AND scrolling trough posts) about NFC issues. i couldn't find a thread so here it is!
i JUST BOUGHT an unlocked / international version of Z2 Play - 4Gb and 64Gb version.
the users manual states: Note: NFC is not available in all areas or on all models.
i tried to use NFC with...
- tags
- another phone
it does not recognize any of them.
the phone is updated to the latest security patches (in europe).
before i send the phone back to the seller (i can do that) i would like to know if it is a well known issue or my phone has a problem.
i tried using tags and other phone connection WITH and WITHOUT the back-cover mounted on the device.
my back-cover has only ONE metallic contact.
so please provide help in order for me to decide if i am going to return the product.
NOTE: i am a LG user and this is my first venture into Moto devices.

I got the same Problem Bro. Nothing interacts with my NFC - I read it's on the top of the phone... behind the camera or the flash. But with knowing this nothing changed.
It's really annoying cause I'm in Australia on Vacation and want to pay with my phone and paypal at the shops, because the currency is good right now.
So, the notch... The mark above the earpiece is the sensor. It works.

This is really a strange Location! Mine works too... haha
thanks for figuring out.
Strange location indeed. I need NFC for car integration, I will place a NFC tag on a car charger. But my car charger is not as tall as the device.
So I intend to return it.
I like the Amoled... I like the feel of the phone (even if my 4 years old LG G3 is smoother - on a 7.1 custom ROM)... But unfortunately this one does not meet my day-to-day usage requirements.
I made my first payment using this device.
It turns out that having the NFC sensor on that spot is perfect for making payments. You don't have to manoeuvre the phone in strange positions according to the position of the place of payment. So... Nice job!
