You may flash any international firmware unless you have a specific carrier for your cell phone service.
You may flash h/i/at to your ion.
Just be sure about where you are and does your carrier needs your phone to be of a specific region or it may void your warranty.:victory:

I know it personal reference to use GB. You might think again as ICS had a better battery management. Just a thought.
The only thing I missed from GB is the unlock screen sound vibration. Still searching to put it back . Any good lead, anyone?

Really? Nothing happens if I install something build from R800i or any other model?
And the GSM at the begin of the posts, dont gonna leave me without CDMA?
Thanks!
I don't think it matters. I used to have a stock r800at but I installed TrueAncestor v. 1.4b and it changed it to an r800i. I haven't seen any problems in the month I've used it!
Falsh the enhanced version of stock rom .58 and after flashing your r800a will become r800i. Then flash doom kernel through fastboot. Then search for any gingerbread rom and flash through CWM. Thats all.

Yep, they work perfectly in Latin America, just make sure to do a nandroid (full backup) and you should be fine, then you can test every ROM out there with a backup to rely on and roll back if necessary.

No, although the files are similar we cannot flash S software, mods, etc. onto the ION and vice versa
Pretty much same hardware but yeh you can't flash the XS firmware on the ion. Something you are trying to get?
Just wonder. Liking the newest north American firmware for XS
Yeh I agree it runs real nice.

Is this true? We can flash the S firmware? So does that mean we can flash S roms?

No, do not flash Xperia S firmware on your phone it will brick it, due to the differences in the system.
As i've flashed world generic ftf for JB, does it mean that my s1 boot version has changed including my baseband?

but my baseband surely did change no?
I'm getting 2G most of the time only on both .55 firmwares and .200 firmware which makes me guess that my baseband is changed. However is it possible for me to flash an ICS baseband on JB firmware?

I don't think the baseband got changed but I am not too sure about that! You can try flashing ICS baseband but at your own risk!
