Hi all. Quick searching leads me nowhere as there are thousands of problems concerning issues I'm NOT having. Sorry for the crappy 3ds camera pic, it's the only thing I have at my disposal right now besides the phone. As I said in the title, I'm not using a screen protector - this is a stock phone right out of the factory with no accessories, albeit aged a bit.
If you'll take a look, you'll see two screen bubbles. The huge funky-looking one at the top started out looking like the one at the bottom, and grew over a period of a few weeks. The bottom one started out really small and doubled in size to what it is now, but has since stopped.
It's really annoying and starting to bother me, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar issues, or has any input whether or not I can maybe fix this thing without having to get a whole new screen/digitizer/whatever. No replacement plans on this phone so gotta figure something else out. Any idea what's going on?

Is the plastic actually raised up? Can you see it when the screen is off? To me it looks like the digatizer may be going out, but its hard to tell from a pic.
It appears to be sealed and working fine... just has bubbles. I don't really know much about the insides of this phone, but it almost looks as if whatever is behind the digitizer is slightly warped and might be causing some contact with the glass or something like that. Reflections (off what is behind the screen - lcd? Not the reflections off the glass) tend to bend near the bubbles, whereas everywhere else behind the glass is pretty straight.
Essentially it just looks like water droplets or air bubbles forming on the inside surface of the glass, but it's never seen water before. I don't think the digitizer is failing.
Same problem, can I fix this myself?
Hi guys, I have the exact same problem on my HTC Desire. Touch is working fine, the pixels underneath are ok... yet this thing is expanding. What used to be 3 little bubbles near the very corner moved and turned into this amoeba looking thing after a few months.
Here are a few other shots.
Hope someone can let me know the possible verdict? Is it gone? Can it only be repaired by a professional or can I expect to be able to "clean up" the inside of the screen if I dismantle my phone as it is done here?:

Maybe the liquids from the lcd are boiling from the heat? Sounds dumb but is a possibility

Yikes. Mine is still having the same issues. I'm thinking about just tearing it down soon and figuring it out myself. A little nervous working on something with such small components. Any tips for a first teardown? I need to get a T6 torx and I've already looked at a couple disassembly guides, was a while ago though.
As far as I can tell, I will have to replace either the digitizer/glass or the LCD. If it's the latter I'll probably just upgrade the phone cause they seem pretty pricey.
Ok, I did what I said and investigated myself. Unfortunately, I broke my phone doing it.
The problem is the front glass/digitizer. I couldn't get the LCD off, but I pried it back enough to see bubbles through the glass looking from the inside.
I broke my LCD prying on it, now I have an ugly black spot. Guess I'll be buying an LCD and a digitizer now. Anybody have some spare ones, or know the cheapest place to get them?

There are some digitizers on ebay for about $20 USD. i dont know about LCDs cause i never needed to replace mine but i would assume that they would be a little more expensive. Also, make sure you get the digitizer WITH the bezel because it will make your life a ton easier.
I'd better not touch it then
Sorry to hear about your LCD, D-Lew
Guess I wont be touching mine on my own. I'll definitely break it trying to do the same thing as you. I wonder if it's gonna break my phone if I just leave it as is. I mean, apart from the fact that it is there, it is not affecting the performance at all.
The bubble might get bigger. That's all you have to worry about.

Hello, found a few scratches on my Xperia Arc screen and got very disappointed, I thought it had scratch resistant screen, later I took a close look to the screen and found out that it had one more screen layer, could anyone tell me if it can be removed or not, because when I asked SE support team, the operator told me that it can be removed, I just wont a suggestion, help guys.
I would not touch that layer it is part of the capacitive sensor on the screen if I'm not mistaken
yeah, I'm afraid of that too, but support team convinced me in opposite
Yes, you can remove it without problems. I did it in December without problems so far.
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
how did you remove it? any suggestions to peel it off? It's a bit hard to do that ( with nails )
With my nails
It takes a while to pick up a corner, but once you got a corner picked up it's easy.

Part of capacitive sensor ?? Lol
Anyways..it's just a screen protector..if got scratched,replace it with a new one..
And in this case,i would suggest you to seek some professional help as you might end up making new scratches in order to remove the protector. It's a tough job and needs a lot of love and care d(^_^)
Thank you all, I did it, it really was a screen protector, if found layer like this on your arc , you should peel it off, as a result you get Better colors, touchscreen enhancement and sharper image.
I dont think that we should remove the screen guard. SE provides two screen guards with the handset. One comes already pasted on ur handset and other comes in the box. we need not remove it as it keeps the main screen safe from scratches..
I really agree with your, but that screen protector makes touchpad less sensitive and colors are less vivid, so I prefer being extra careful with my phone then looking at Less Attractive screen
Last time I checked the screen protector I have on doesn't change the quality, clearness or the color of the display. Just saying.
Protect your screen with one. Most of them now a good and leave your screen feeling normal.
i know its an old question but anyway i have one question.how hard is it to peel of the screen protector? im trying it right now and im afraid of braking something, should i force it off or what?
It is glued there so you may have to use some force to peel it off.

Guys
I observed that there is a crack in the benzel of my sgs2. Benzel i mean The plastic lining that wraps around the front glass.
The crack is near the volume buttons.
How easy it is to replace this plastic strip ? Is it risky ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Pretty sure you mean bezel, not benzel.
You would probably have to replace the entire housing which is quite risky to do in my opinion. If you don't know what you are doing you could short the board or break something.
Happened to me too.
Is it really so bad that you need to replace it?
Happend to me too. Seems like that part is very fragile.
I think the only way you can replace it is replacing the whole screen and touch panel.
After that one little crack and that mysterious burn mark right next to it (damn alcohol ) i finally decided to buy a case

Its not so bad. But there is an another minor crack on the exactly other side of the benzel where power button is present !
Is it because of overheat ? I use my phone while charging and battery temps are at 46 celcius when I do that.
I never dropped my phone.
If I go for a new benzel then will I have to pay for new screen too ? Is the benzel glued to the screen ?

Why would I have to replace screen also ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
You can probably have it replaced at an official Samsung repair center. I'm pretty sure they carry one or two sets -- or can order one for you -- but it'll probably set you back a little.

I am not sure about this. But looking at the screen replacement tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253969) it seems like screen+touchpanel+bezel is a single part. I guess it is somehow glued together. But again, that is just a guess.
just put a little glue in the crack
went to samsung service center.
They said they will replace the Glass panel, Pled screen and benzel.
Oh what the hell, I'll get a new Oled screen. Will go for SGS4 directly

yeah I noticed a crack on my bezel above the volume button. You can kind of see it on the enclosed picture.
I've got a crack in almost exactly the same place as the above pic, slightly closer to the top of the volume button.
Mine has been in an official flip case since day one and has never been dropped. I only noticed the crack when I looked after reading this thread (just like the plastic cover over the home button thread!).
I wouldn't have noticed the crack because of the case. So, is this a design fault? Is it heat or flex that is causing the crack?
The benzel is the most fragile part I think.
I must be because of heat. As the processor, gpu and antenna are near camera module. The top portion gets a lot hotter when accessing 3G.
On top of that if any pressure you put on it going to worsen it. Putting it in a tight jeans and then when u try to remove it out of pocket, u tend to grab the benzel a lot.
All in all, I would go for a metal/polycorbonate benzel in my next phone. That disqualifies SGS3.
Obviously I dont want to pay a hell lot of amount just to get a thin plastic strip (benzel) to be replaced.
Just because samsung did stupid move to glue them together and chose a cheap plastic for benzel I now have to pay a lot.
Waiting for HTC One XL(unibody) with S4 chipset. At least it would come for 3 yrs rather than breaking within 11 Months.
End of rant. Sh**ty cheap plastic Samsung.

same issue for me
i discovered that few weeks after buying the device
i kept the device with that crack but i worried about it
"happy" to see that i'm not the only one
Incredible! Saw this thread and wondered what the hell a 'benzel' was. After reading that it had happened to more people, I just checked my phone and it has the same crack.
Had never noticed this until now. Fortunately mine is a black phone, so not as noticeable as the white.

also the bezel scratches easy is there any point in replacing it when you could pay to have it fixed then drop the phone or scratch it against something??
wear marks are never good to see but they do happend
Hi everybody I have a question regarding a screen problem I have.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post I accidentally spilt a lot of pure alcohol(the kind you use to disinfect a wound or something) on my HOX.
After a while the phone screen showed some strange grey shape on the lower right part of the screen and a bright white long shape looking like water jumping from a fountain on the left side starting from the bottom of the screen extending to almost the middle of the screen. After turning it off for 8-10 hours they grey shape dissapeared and the white remains and it doesnt look like it will ever go.
Strangely enough the HOX has no problem everything is working but I noticed that some apps are working somehow over the white shape covering it and some others like facebook seem to be under it making it visible.
I made some screen shots to show you the problem but stangely enough this white shape is not shown at all in the screen shots!!!!
Can anyone tell me where this thing might be?
LCD? Digitizer? elsewhere?
HTC funny enough suggested a factory reset to solve this and if that doesnt work(like there is a chance that it will...) to just send it to service.
I plan to play dumb to service hopping to fix this under my warranty as the phone has absolutely no scratch or anything anywhere as I never even dropped it once.
Do you think they can somehow find out what happened of maybe they will fix it under warranty?
Thanks a lot for your time reading this and I d love to have your opinions

Looks like overheating damage by a component beneath the screen, possibly something reacting to/affected by the alcohol.

When you say beneath the screen do you mean beneath the LCD as well or just beneath the glass?
I am just thinking that if its beneath the LCD it would probably not show plus the phone would have some kind of functional problem(it works just fine) wouldnt it?
Beneath the screen assembly. It looks like (possibly) some component or board has caused damage to or affected the digitizer, as your actual display seems ok.

So the service corrective action will be a screen assembly replacement or you think that something more will be needed?
Also if the digitizer was damaged wouldnt the phone use be affected?Cause the device has not been affected in anyway.
Everything works like it used to before this damage.
Send it of for repair, youll have to pay of course, how much tdo you like your phone?, that's the question.

I like my HOX very much otherwise why would I pay 428 euro to buy it?
Of course what makes the HOX stand out of the samrtphone crowd is the amazing display so of course I want it fixed.
I will try to cheat saying I know nothing about it(the phone doesnt even has a scratch) hoping waranty to cover this but if this doesnt work I ll have to pay 196 euro for screen replacement.
Although appart from that mark nothing else is affected I am worried that perhaps a screen replacement might not be enough if the digitizer is affected by something beneath it.
Do you think that a screen replacement will be enough to solve this problem?
HTC will give you the digitizer and LCD, especially if you end up paying, which will then get you a new bezel and unibody all still tapped up in protective coat, I've had it done for my phone, 160gbp.I even think you get the Onex+ version screen, gorilla glass 2.Could be wrong

I have seen other people complaining on Sony Forum.
Is anyone here having the same issue?
Thanks.

Not here. The full keyboard works without any trouble. If you enable "show taps" in developer options, you can see if your phone is actually detecting your touch.
It could be a faulty digitizer. Happens with even the best flag ships so it's not impossible.

Hi there. I see that you are using an XA1, can I ask you something? Would you be so kind to share its stock wallpapers from its system files please? I know this is not related to your topic but I'm just so desperate to have them...:crying:
I have no Issues with my touch screen. Although when I bought a new cheap screen protector off ebay I am finding sometimes it becomes "unresponsive" (in the corners the screen protector "lifts up" due to the curved glass of the phone and starts collects dust/grime).
Removing the screen protector fixes the issue. Do you have a screen protector?
Another option would be to go into: Settings - About phone - Diagnostics to test the screen. you can tap/ swipe anywhere on the screen and it will give you feedback on if it registered the tap or not. Lets us know!
I also experienced this issue but after switching from Swiftkey keyboard to G-Board and it seems that the issue went away so I doubt it is a hardware issue.
I'm just going to provide an update and say that now even without the screen protector, this phone doesn't really register my touches at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Especially the letter "p", "l", and the backspace key.
Changing keyboards doesn't seem to fix anything. Not sure if I should request for a new phone, or if it could be software related.
EDIT: It seems to have gotten progressively worse. Now its almost impossible to press the "p", "L" and backspace keys and the touch registers maybe 20% of the time. I'm going to ask for a refund, or a replacement.

That's got to be hardware. I reckon your digitizer is faulty. You should be able to return it to the retailer for a replacement. Or get Sony to do it for free.

I want to give a summary of my story here.
I bought two xperia xa1 about a month ago. Both phones are having touchscreen issue within a week (edges of the screen are not sensitive). I sent to local service center in Singapore.
Now I have got my phones back. They replaced the screen for both phones and they are working fine so far.
Thanks to Sony, my new phones become refurbished phones just after being bought.
I feel like I bought refurbished phones with premium price.
It appears , there are certain batch of devices which have digitizers issues along edges ....
There are similar complaints on amazon regarding the same.

I thought so. Reading through forums on Sony and other websites and you see quite a few people who have this issue.
I got mine replaced on the spot at the store I bought my phone from. So far no issues. But I keep my fingers crossed.
Sony should address this issue. It might be a cheap phone, but still it's their responsibility and should issue a recall, or a replacement for all phones that have this issue.

This is not the first time ,when a batch of devices faced an issue .AFAIK, Xperia Z has a lot with yellow tint. Also one another phone with really fragile speaker.
This might be issue with one particular batch , which might have escaped while testing.
Or issue with display vendor.
Otherwise a solid device.
You don't have to stick with the keyboard the phone came with also why not use the speech to text function and just talk
Yes. I too had the same issue. Did a screen and touch replacement under warranty. Working well

There are some reports about screen protectors interfering with touch.

You can resize the keyboard to "deal" with the issue. But keep in mind that this touch screen issue affect all other apps too. Games and stuff. I personally don't think it is possible to use a phone with a defecting touch screen for long.

I am currently using the Zuslab 3D curved tempered glass screen protector I bought off ebay.
Its good, it does cover the whole screen, including the curved edges of the phone, however, it only has adhesive around the edges of the screen protector, not in the middle. So the middle of the screen does feel a little "hollow" as it an air bubble and not adhesive.

Maybe the touch issue is a software problem. A few hours ago someone on gsmarena said the problem was resolved with latest software update! (in the XA1 discussion).
