[RADIO][MODEM] UVLI1 - t989 - t-mobile s2 - CWM/TWRP flashable - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi all,
I have received a replacement T-Mobile SII today and it has UVLI1 modem on it. I did flash the Party Boy ROM but the modem seems to be intact. I followed the links (guide) posted in other thread on extracting the modem and gave it a try. Attached is the modem (could not attach the .bin file so put it in a 7-zip file to avoid confusion) and also attached is the screenshot of the info screen on my phone. Can someone check this file to see if I did everything correctly? If yes, can someone make a flashable zip out of this so folks can flash away this modem?
Update : 12/13/12
Here is the 7-zip file for UVLI1 - UVLI1.7z - 15.31 MB - please note that this is not a flashable zip - just contains modem and amssbin file - thanks blackwing182 for instructions.
MD5 Sum: 0e4893d8a0320a93a379ba037f27e357
Here is the flashable zip - https://www.dropbox.com/s/h6m7thtyz883a1b/UVLI1.zip - thanks jrosetto for creating the flashable zip

Yes a move forward!!

Thanks!!!

update as in new software?
as in 4.2.1 to all of our devices?

Man TMobile sure does like to keep us on our toes on not giving us any info on any updates.

How long before it surfaces is the question. As in surface I mean flashable zip
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium

Tried flashing the modem with ODIN by putting the modem.bin in the phone section with my phone in download mode and everytime it fails. Anyone else have this problem or a workaround?

Someone should make a flashable of this modem.

Just as the voice of other, you can flash on a rooted device, the procedure would be:
flash stock recovery > apply ota > flash recovery via odin > flash latest root from recovery in recovery.
Can you actually flash it on the rooted phone? And what is the change log?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA App
Thanks for this!
Watch this video if you're rooted and want to update:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KeZx65twLk
It will get you stock recovery back and you can manually install the update. Then just watch my how to root video after to get root back
Also, here is a mirror for the file:
http://qbking77.rainmotorsports.net/GSIII/04646f9535b3.update_SPH-L710_LG2_to_LG8.zip
Here is a video with more info on LG8 and a review of it:

LG8? The one on Sprint's site says LG4, as of 7/25.
So why can't this be done on a rooted phone?

Yup, because you have to flash the stock recovery via Odin to accept the OTA. Then you have to re-root by flashing back to CWM recovery and the teamwin root zip. Follow the QBKing77 video above to guide you through it

(RECOVERIES) Odin flashable latest TWRP and CWM

Support as in being able to flash stuff from our external sd card? Or support as in mounting the external sd card?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Mounting if I remember right. You could only use internal sd I think.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Sorry, I labeled it that way for my drop box.
Yes, when CWM first came out for our phones, people were having issues with having ext-sd card support. It was fixed in later versions. Nothing special about it It just works.
However, I still prefer TWRP.
Thanks guys! And gals (I think ) wasn't sure if it meant we could mount sd card to computer in recovery cause that's something I miss lol.

I don't think the recovery is firmware specific. The recovery operates independently from the OS from what I understand as it is a separate partition.

Right, it is separate and operates independantly. You did prompt me to double check everything though and while any of the recoveries will work with any build (like the modems) they are different for each version. LEM and LH2 recoveries are roughly 4kb different in their size, and every OTA (leaked and official) has a different recovery-from-boot.p which patches the current recovery.
For purposes of OTA updates this may cause it to fail in the same way that having the incorrect modem causes it to fail. I haven't tested this though.
I believe the recovery is patched a little differently in the OTAs than the rest of the system. It doesn't actually patch it during the ota upgrade process, but patches it on boot. This is why we have the recovery-from-boot.p and install-recovery.sh in every OTA, but not in the official full FW used with Odin. Its not to make custom recoveries more difficult to use, that's just a side effect of the method Samsung chose to use.
(I could be wrong on that last part, but don't think I am. Just thought id add it here as an extra bit of fyi for everyone)
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I am not sure what version I pulled it from. I pulled it a few months ago, so obviously one of the previous releases.
Haven't had any issues thus far though with my phone. Updated to the latest.....
It's quite easy to spot in the recovery where it's failing during an update. It will mostly ***** about missing APK's you may have uninstalled, or if you modified the boot logo, I have seen that as well.
Yeah, as far as functionality, it should be perfectly fine.
And it may indeed update just fine as well and only fail to patch the recovery on boot. I'm just not sure is all.
Not trying to make a big deal out of it though.
Thanks again for putting all of these out here!

Someone posted that it fixes an overheating issue on the MA6 firmware and baseband. So edit your build.prop and change all MA6 occurrences with MB1 save, exit, reboot (that will stop the update nag) then wait for a firmware and baseband flashable to show up.

If you *need* the update now and have CWM/TWRP, flash stock recovery zip from freeza, reboot and take update, then re-root via team epic method or cf-auto-root. Took about 3 minutes total for me.
Or wait until someone with more skillz than me uploads a CWM/TWRP flashable zip.

I know most of us TW guys are always looking to change our boot animation and there are not that many available I found this one a while ago searching and is pretty cool in my opinion..... Is flash-able thru cwm/twrp so easy to install...... BTW I DID NOT MAKE THIS SO I DON'T TAKE THE CREDIT FOR IT...... IF ANY1 KNOWS WHO MADE IT LET ME KNOW AND I WILL GIVE THEM THANKS AND MENTION THEM...... But anyways here you go enjoy and if you are generous a thanks is always nice since I uploaded it in my dropbox I can't find where I downloaded it for a while ago lol......
EDIT
Credit goes to guys from- Omega rom they are the ones that created this make sure you go in their thread and give them a thanks up also

If you are using a touchwiz ROM you won't have a bootanimation.zip they use qmg instead reason why we have to flash it..... I could be wrong tho
