(RECOVERIES) Odin flashable latest TWRP and CWM - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I love having ODIN flashable versions of the recoveries, here are the latest I made you for:

Added the latest TWRP 2.3.1.0

What does it mean by working sd card?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

I think at one time cwm didn't have support for our external sdcard.

Support as in being able to flash stuff from our external sd card? Or support as in mounting the external sd card?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Mounting if I remember right. You could only use internal sd I think.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

Sorry, I labeled it that way for my drop box.
Yes, when CWM first came out for our phones, people were having issues with having ext-sd card support. It was fixed in later versions. Nothing special about it It just works.
However, I still prefer TWRP.

Thanks guys! And gals (I think ) wasn't sure if it meant we could mount sd card to computer in recovery cause that's something I miss lol.

I don't think the recovery is firmware specific. The recovery operates independently from the OS from what I understand as it is a separate partition.

Right, it is separate and operates independantly. You did prompt me to double check everything though and while any of the recoveries will work with any build (like the modems) they are different for each version. LEM and LH2 recoveries are roughly 4kb different in their size, and every OTA (leaked and official) has a different recovery-from-boot.p which patches the current recovery.
For purposes of OTA updates this may cause it to fail in the same way that having the incorrect modem causes it to fail. I haven't tested this though.
I believe the recovery is patched a little differently in the OTAs than the rest of the system. It doesn't actually patch it during the ota upgrade process, but patches it on boot. This is why we have the recovery-from-boot.p and install-recovery.sh in every OTA, but not in the official full FW used with Odin. Its not to make custom recoveries more difficult to use, that's just a side effect of the method Samsung chose to use.
(I could be wrong on that last part, but don't think I am. Just thought id add it here as an extra bit of fyi for everyone)
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

I am not sure what version I pulled it from. I pulled it a few months ago, so obviously one of the previous releases.
Haven't had any issues thus far though with my phone. Updated to the latest.....
It's quite easy to spot in the recovery where it's failing during an update. It will mostly ***** about missing APK's you may have uninstalled, or if you modified the boot logo, I have seen that as well.

Yeah, as far as functionality, it should be perfectly fine.
And it may indeed update just fine as well and only fail to patch the recovery on boot. I'm just not sure is all.
Not trying to make a big deal out of it though.
Thanks again for putting all of these out here!

When I extract the twrp.zip file, it is giving me a .img file not .tar.md5
wat do?
I need a .md5 file so I can save my mama's phone!
Also, can I use CWM instead to wipe the phone when it's soft-bricked?

Edit... Just downloaded the top file in the op and it was a tar.md5.... Put that in odin under PDA section and flash away

Just as the voice of other, you can flash on a rooted device, the procedure would be:
flash stock recovery > apply ota > flash recovery via odin > flash latest root from recovery in recovery.
Can you actually flash it on the rooted phone? And what is the change log?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using XDA App
Thanks for this!
Watch this video if you're rooted and want to update:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KeZx65twLk
It will get you stock recovery back and you can manually install the update. Then just watch my how to root video after to get root back
Also, here is a mirror for the file:

Here is a video with more info on LG8 and a review of it:

LG8? The one on Sprint's site says LG4, as of 7/25.
So why can't this be done on a rooted phone?

Yup, because you have to flash the stock recovery via Odin to accept the OTA. Then you have to re-root by flashing back to CWM recovery and the teamwin root zip. Follow the QBKing77 video above to guide you through it

[Q] Rooting CLI5

I just upgraded from a samsung captivate to to the i747. I am familiar with the rooting process and flashing roms. However with this device I noticed I have CLI5 installed on it. I can find very little about this build. Can I root this with the standard methods? Or is this one I will have to wait on for a while. This is an AT&T phone.

Someone posted that it fixes an overheating issue on the MA6 firmware and baseband. So edit your build.prop and change all MA6 occurrences with MB1 save, exit, reboot (that will stop the update nag) then wait for a firmware and baseband flashable to show up.

If you *need* the update now and have CWM/TWRP, flash stock recovery zip from freeza, reboot and take update, then re-root via team epic method or cf-auto-root. Took about 3 minutes total for me.
Or wait until someone with more skillz than me uploads a CWM/TWRP flashable zip.

I am not responsible for your phone, flash at your own risk.
Hosting switched to Dev-Host.
Here is mine using the biz with a different wallpaper during a swipe.

\/\/\/ DO NOT USE BELOW LINK IF YOU HAVE E980 AT&T MODEL PHONE, USE ABOVE LINK ONLY.\/\/\/
Here is a Mirror to the Flashable Zip As Since it is a decent file size enough Downloads will Suspend you dropbox and render the download link useless.
Mirror is hosted on my server

Also Here is a Link for 23 MORE themes, These can be easily installed, Just unzip the file and Install them like normal apps/Apk`s dont move these to the system folder.

I was able to replicate it and know the issue, I'm fixing it now.
Edit: All fixed and tested on stock e980, the problem was I used the home from the e988 on my phone that is running the Pure Stock Rooted and Debloated Rom.
Sorry for the issue.
No problem thanks for your work brother

Something does not make sense, I actually downloaded it from my Dropbox and it worked fine before transferring to.dev host. When you flash it, what recovery are you using?
I just put my wife's phone back to stock, rerooted, freegee CWM, and installed the pack from the DEV Host account, worked no problem.

Lol, now I did. Works great, thanks bro.
Hey are these Deodexed or can you deodex them? I can't get them to Deodex no matter what I do, I'm wanting to run them on the CM10.1 Rom.
