Hey gus, got something to show you, a tip, and a question, i made a music video last week (Alicia keys/Rihanna cover) and used my note 2 for one angle. I figured why not start using it, i bought alot of batteries for it, i have a 64 gb card, and its 1080 like my other cameras. Obviously, the lens and sensor arent that great but in low light, and if its on a tripod, its pretty good, i was even able to add zooming later in the editing. The note 2 shot is the one with the drummer/rapper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeRceSDUjtk .
A couple things, first of all, here is the link for a tripod mount that definitely works for the note 2, if you buy any others, make sure they fit first. The whole stabalizer thing is stupid and it doesnt really do anything although i guess it would help you not block the lens or mic, it works great as a tripod mount http://www.amazon.com/Woxom-Slingshot-Smartphone-Video-Stabilizer/dp/B008Q1XQ5Q
Also, does anyone know of any apps that will let you lower the gain of the microphone while taking video? because the mics on really all of these phones are abysmal!! Really if you were able to lower the gain, that would solve the issue, mostly. also, does anyone know if theres a way to get an external microphone working on the phone when taking video? when i plug in my video mic it still records from the internal microphones.
On a side note (no pun intended) i think its kind of cool that it records in stereo with the built in mics... i thought thatextra mic was just for when youre on speaker but it seems like its used for stereo... when did they start doing that with phones?
Anyway, tell me what you think of the video, again, the note 2 angle is the one on the drummer and the zooming is not the digital zoom while recording, but after in the editing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeRceSDUjtk
+1 on this topic. I went through this same problem with my old Galaxy S 4g. I installed Voodoo Sound (must be rooted) and in that I was able to select between 4 pre mic settings. However, I don't think Voodoo Sound is compatible with our Note 2 yet. .... I heard just before U.S release date that Supercurio was working on it, but I haven't heard since. Anyone else know?

I have not yet purchased the G4. I saw a thread where someone mentioned the microphone appeared to not be very sensitive in the videos he shot. I'm wondering if any of you have notice this as an issue in your videos? I plan on using the camera and video recording features a lot so I'm curious about this.
As a second question: Several other posters have commented that the OIS is a bit slow to respond, resulting in unintended movement. I.e. when panning, the image continues to pan a bit after the actual phone has stopped panning. Anyone notice this?
Thanks.

I've been checking a lllllot of comparisons between the G4, galaxy S6, and the iphone6.
I have to say judging from those, it's true, I'd even say that the sound quality is pretty bad on the G4's videos, especially if you compare it to the S6.
And yes, the OIS ruins the videos sadly. Again I've gone through numbers of test footages, and comparisons, and damn it, the OIS just ruins the videos on the G4. Plus in some cases the autofocus just goes too hyperactive. I too also am looking to buy a phone which can record good videos. Sofar I've found the S6 beats everything atm. My only gripe with it is that samsung (and a few other companies to be fair) still haven't figured out how to manage recording in loud enviroments, or at least giving us the option to manually control the mic volume, so at parties you still will get blown out audio at least if you're recording with the phone's mic. Plus i fear stuff like bad RAM management and slowdown with the S6 cause I've seen posts about it, so I'm still on the fence...
I wish they'd just make a perfect phone combining the G4 and the S6...

I'm in almost the exact same position as you (minus considering the iphone) and I've noticed the same thing between the S6 and G4 regarding video. It's one of the biggest things holding me back right now from getting a G4. Unfortunately though it seems like most reviews fail to mention it all. I wish people would complain more about it to hopefully draw attention to it and get LG to fix it soon. I'm hopeful that it can be fixed in a software update, but until then it seems like we either have to pick a buggy device with comprises and a far worse camera app (S6) or a less powerful device with bad video quality and not as good multi-window support (G4). I really need a new phone but neither the G4 nor the S6 do everything that I want right now.
I purchased from Samsung, big discount, extras, etc. Chose the 21 day trial option. I'm almost certain I will return the fold and keep my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The fold is a very nice phone but some things I just can't get past. Weight, small front screen, much more difficult to do the everyday things I need my phone for in comparison to my Note 20. The Note 20 is a gorgeous phone and everything just works. Light, easy to handle, S pen with Bluetooth so I can operate the camera wirelessly. Speaking of the camera... Wonderful zoom capabilities that the fold does not have. Really dumb to pay so much for a lesser camera, no onboard S pen and no wireless connection for the pen. A huge plus for the fold is book reading. It works great as a tablet but for the everyday stuff it will need to be much thinner and lighter for me. Just my humble opinion.
Watch the S Pen experience section - that bigger screen always trumps the Note for me!

The Fold is not a replacement for the Note, it simply can't be. Maybe someday, when it's half as thick, when it has a built-in stylus and a slightly larger display to use on the fly as well as a better camera.
I love big pads, at the time I even bought the QTEK 9000 (someone will remember it for sure). But I can't bring myself to replace my Note 20 Ultra 5G with the Galaxy Fold 3, it's stronger than me.
One question: is it true that the Fold 3's hands-free calls are in mono and not stereo? A curiosity of mine that no review(in my mother tongue) says.
Yes, I did returned Z Fold 3. I didn't see much improvements over my Z Fold 2. I will wait for next Fold generation or new Note - if they still make it in the future..
Hey,
I hope you doing well. If you are not interested in returning your product know About Samsung Return Policy first.
It provides only 30 days to return from the date of purchase. The product must be returned before 30 days as per the original tag mentioned on merchandise. To learn in detail about you can visit the site I have mentioned above.
Thank You!
I did only to buy another BNIB off Swappa for $400 less!
No regrets here. Having a phone that doubles as a tablet is priceless.
I went from a N20U to this Fold 3, and in all honesty, I can't think of ANY reason for me to return this.
Is the Fold 3 Perfect? No, is it overwhelmingly better than the N20U or S21? No, but for what I, personally, use it for and the reasons I had to switch, yes, it is better for ME than the N20U.
All in all, I LOVE this phone and cannot think of any reason for me to switch back from a foldable phone anytime soon. It's the screen real estate and the usage of the inner screen that clinches it for me.
While it was being weird at first i LOVE the frontscreen the most actually. when i have to use a normal smartphone they feel alot bigger and unpractical to hold.
most people use their Smartphone with 2 hands. Samsung went the right way here. using front screen 1handed and bigger screen 2handed.
Nope, best smartphone I've ever owned.

Note 20 ultra 5G sounds hands-free calls from both speakers, so it is "stereo" obviously not hifi.
It is much better of only 1 speaker
Apologize my bad English
Playing from both speakers on a call is dual speaker mono.
Stereo implies a left and right (or more specifically channel 1 and channel 2) routed to corresponding speakers.
For a call to be actual stereo both mics would be used discreetly and the stereo signal encoded as stereo and sent to the recipient's speakers in the same fashion. Not exactly practical. ;-)

I just checked. The sound comes out of both speakers.
What's strange is that the 'bottom' speaker (if you were holding the phone as a phone) is much louder than the 'top' speaker. I suspect that this has something to do with which microphone is used, so that the speaker doesn't interfere with it. With 4 microphones it's difficult to tell.

Not only that. The top speaker isn't when located straight under tiny grill. It is located further down behind screen and uses a tunnel leading up to grill and out. So that might be a reason as well that sound is lower in that speaker than what it is on bottom speaker that sits right at grill opening with no space sort off between.
My Fold 3 is better for me than my last three Notes were. Utilizing the larger screen (And larger s pen) for my daily planner and calendar and all the handwriting I like to add is just light years better. The only single thing AT ALL that I miss from the note is the availability to add a quick note on a turned off phone w/ a black screen in one quick fail swoop without having to go through messing with the phone too much. Maybe somebody knows of a Bixby routine that might do something similar? Either way, the pluses over the Note series far out weigh the (single) negative. For me, of course.

Normal stereo doesn't suffer from this problem, though. If fact it's pretty amazing if you listen to a music that 'swirls' about from speaker to speaker, like some Beatles tracks.
I suspect the reason for the tunnel is the normal phone speaker and slefie camera in the way.

The only way Id get access on a black screen is if the phone was already open, since the front screen doesn't accept spen input. My Fold is set to turn on when I open it anyway.

The Fold 3 is a specific device made for a specific kind of phone user. If the camera is a top priority, the Ultra phones from Samsung are for you. If you want a phone that is also a tablet, and you don't want to carry multiple devices and chargers, the Fold 3 is for you.

people dont buy the fold 3 for its cameras
I came from an S21U and actually feel that the Fold 3 is a better phone so much so that I decided to trade in the S21U. Granted the S21U has a crazy amount of zoom and takes great pictures, the Fold 3 is no slouch either. I'm a photography enthusiast and know that I need to temper my expectations with the Fold 3. Having said that, it's not really bad at taking pics unless you start looking at pics with a magnifying glass looking for noise abberations, etc. which I don't. I love the fact that I can browse websites on a bigger screen.
Hey all, I have a Pixel 3 XL and one of my biggest complaints is not being able to hear my kiddo's voice very well (and mine way too loud) when recording videos (I also consistently run Otterbox Defender cases).
Would someone give me a real world review of how effective the audio zoom feature is on the Pixel 6 Pro compared to phones without it or phones with the setting disabled?
I've tried to hunt down a coherent review but my search skills are failing or not much focus has been paid to this aspect.

Since you use a gargantuan case that is without a doubt limiting the phones capabilities to recognize sound, no recommendation here will help you in any way (except if the one that makes the comparison also uses, by chance, the same or a similar big case).
Be glad you don't have iPhone 13, microphone sucks on that. The Pixel 6 Pro has 3 microphones, one on top, one on camera bar, one on bottom. Audio zoom uses the one on the camera bar. Here's Authentech's camera review queued up at the microphone section, he doesn't talk about audio zoom though:
Hey, thanks @nxt. That helped. If the mic on the camera bar doesn't do it, I'll look at external usb-c options.
