Hey gus, got something to show you, a tip, and a question, i made a music video last week (Alicia keys/Rihanna cover) and used my note 2 for one angle. I figured why not start using it, i bought alot of batteries for it, i have a 64 gb card, and its 1080 like my other cameras. Obviously, the lens and sensor arent that great but in low light, and if its on a tripod, its pretty good, i was even able to add zooming later in the editing. The note 2 shot is the one with the drummer/rapper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeRceSDUjtk .
A couple things, first of all, here is the link for a tripod mount that definitely works for the note 2, if you buy any others, make sure they fit first. The whole stabalizer thing is stupid and it doesnt really do anything although i guess it would help you not block the lens or mic, it works great as a tripod mount http://www.amazon.com/Woxom-Slingshot-Smartphone-Video-Stabilizer/dp/B008Q1XQ5Q
Also, does anyone know of any apps that will let you lower the gain of the microphone while taking video? because the mics on really all of these phones are abysmal!! Really if you were able to lower the gain, that would solve the issue, mostly. also, does anyone know if theres a way to get an external microphone working on the phone when taking video? when i plug in my video mic it still records from the internal microphones.
On a side note (no pun intended) i think its kind of cool that it records in stereo with the built in mics... i thought thatextra mic was just for when youre on speaker but it seems like its used for stereo... when did they start doing that with phones?
Anyway, tell me what you think of the video, again, the note 2 angle is the one on the drummer and the zooming is not the digital zoom while recording, but after in the editing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeRceSDUjtk
+1 on this topic. I went through this same problem with my old Galaxy S 4g. I installed Voodoo Sound (must be rooted) and in that I was able to select between 4 pre mic settings. However, I don't think Voodoo Sound is compatible with our Note 2 yet. .... I heard just before U.S release date that Supercurio was working on it, but I haven't heard since. Anyone else know?

Quick question I'm hoping the brilliant minds of XDA can answer:
Does anyone know if the following possible (and if so how)?
Can Two Note 2s (or S3 or S4s for that matter, as I believe they can both do 240fps @ dvd resolution - 720x480) be synced so that they can record the same event from different angles? The specific application I have in mind is recording a golf swing from down the line (behind) and front on. I've done a quick search, just thought I'd post here in case someone by chance had already researched it. Building a website for a Golf Course and Pro Shop and the PGA Pro that runs the shop is keen to use just one - he was very surprised that a phone could record 240fps @ dvd resolution, with more than enough quality in daylight conditions.
Combined with a couple of Cam Caddie (can't post link - not enough posts, but there's this search engine... Anyway it has been confirmed to fit the Note 2), it's really a no-brainer (even if they can't be synced automatically, his assistant could hit record on a countdown, to be synced more accurately later when putting them side by side in the video editing software (I've been using AVS for what it's worth and then Kinovea for the golf specific functions for anyone that's interested).
It has helped my swing, which is saying a lot (just calling it a swing is generous ).
Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated - hopefully someone has had the thought at some point
Cheers,
Dan
Not sure if thats possible but this is a damn good question and could lead to allsorts of possibilities I would imagine.
So just to get things straight you have multiple note 2, s and your saying you want them placed at different angles to the shoot, press record on one note 2 and the others record automatically at the same time?
If this is the case I'll be watching this thread like a hawk.

Literally couldn't (and didn't) have articulated it better myself
So yeah, with the example of applying this to golf coaching (or training by one's self), the direction of the two lenses would be at right angles to each other (both facing the golfer). A coach or decent player that knows what he or she's doing would use either two long alignment sticks or several ones of standard length to get them exactly where he needs them to be at at 90° to each other.
Gotta be some money in it for an app developer with this, it's technically doable using a variety of ways for the phones to communicate (latency would be so low as to be immaterial to the sync). The demographics of people that spend money on golf and golf lessons is, to put it mildly, an attractive target audience that is not unaccustomed to spending a hell of a lot more, regularly, than what such as app what sell for. It could also be used in between lessons to send/show your coach (people already do this, but the Note 2 and I assume S3 & S4 have the [email protected] dvd res), or just by a good player wanting to better evaluate his swing with the myriad of software tools to do so these days. We're talking about a demographic that were buying Casio cameras @ several thousand each, often in pairs, just to do lower 100fps at lower res than the Note 2 does at 240fps - the Go Pro Hero 3 now offers something more affordable and will so the same resolution as the note 2 [slightly different aspect ratio) at 240fps for ~ $400, but a lot of people already have phones that can do it and use their phones as range finders, score cards, clubs distance recorders etc). Only noticabled (I know there are a tonne of benefits to the much bigger lense) advantage of The Casios and the Go Pro for most users for this application is in low light, which should rarely be an issue.
One should be doing this during the say on a grass practice range. But even at night, I've found the lighting at the range I use in winter (still winter here) more than sufficient, along with the camera's LED, just a bit grainy, but I'm using it to see swing arch, club flex etc. need front on for impact position, which I can't do in a booth anyway, so has it be at a proper grass practice range, during the day.
Wow.. Lot of information.. I'm not sure.......................……………………………………………………………………

Have you tried motion detection apps ? Like this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.busywww.cameratrigger&hl=en
Description says this:
"Trigger Timer:
Motion detector trigger timer function is as same as the common camera self-timer.
After delay time finishes, the motion detection will be started. And waiting for the motion movement, and the application would not take any photos until it gets detection."

Very interesting, will certainly try it out, can think of several other uses already.

So I have sensitive hearing and catch this sort of stuff but wondering if it's normal or some odd defect, despite everything seems to work.
If I open the camera app I hear faint white noise and it seems to come from the ear piece if I put it up to my ear. Almost like if you're on a call but no one is talking and you hear the silent ambient noise.
My only guess is either they seem to share some common power and the speaker is powered with the camera or something is funky on mine.
I did get on a call and open the camera app (it does it at that point still too) just to make sure both worked at same time.
It's not super loud/obvious but in a dead silent room is where I caught it and now know it exist ha.
anyway just wanted to see if anyone else could test that.
Put phone to ear like on a call, not you hear nothing.
Open camera app and put to ear and see if any difference.
Mine has the same hissing sound. But I had to put my ear close to the speaker to be able to hear it. I really don't care since I don't take pictures with my phone near my ear

Yea I think I can live with it just wanted to make sure I wasn't some unique snowflake with this odd issue that later would turn worse because it was a defect.
I guess it's possible to still be one but not being the only one with it eases concerns hah.
Thanks for checking!
Yeah, I hear it too. Must be the OIS ? Probably the small electromagnets in there causing some inteference with the earpiece.
I have that problem too. when i open camera app or switching mode(auto to pro), it make noise and I notice that its camera aperture change then make the noise.
anyone know that problem? it is hardware or software issue.
It´s not a fault - it´s by "design" (why I don´t know thou). It has been like this for many generations of Samsung phones now (atleast S6, S7, S8 & S9).
Hey all, I have a Pixel 3 XL and one of my biggest complaints is not being able to hear my kiddo's voice very well (and mine way too loud) when recording videos (I also consistently run Otterbox Defender cases).
Would someone give me a real world review of how effective the audio zoom feature is on the Pixel 6 Pro compared to phones without it or phones with the setting disabled?
I've tried to hunt down a coherent review but my search skills are failing or not much focus has been paid to this aspect.

Since you use a gargantuan case that is without a doubt limiting the phones capabilities to recognize sound, no recommendation here will help you in any way (except if the one that makes the comparison also uses, by chance, the same or a similar big case).
Be glad you don't have iPhone 13, microphone sucks on that. The Pixel 6 Pro has 3 microphones, one on top, one on camera bar, one on bottom. Audio zoom uses the one on the camera bar. Here's Authentech's camera review queued up at the microphone section, he doesn't talk about audio zoom though:
Hey, thanks @nxt. That helped. If the mic on the camera bar doesn't do it, I'll look at external usb-c options.
