I had bought a used Verizon Galaxy Nexus on eBay. It was fairly cheap because the screen was cracked in a few places, but the touch screen and everything still worked. I ended up trying to replace just the glass and failed, so I bought the whole AMOLED digitizer display replacement.
The new screen causes the phone to go into endless boot loop. Now I knew this prior to buying, but I figured it was worth a shot in trying to get it to work. Basically the screen works except for the boot loop. It goes all the way up to when the device vibrates and it about to show the lockscreen and then it freezes and tries to boot back up. Also, when I reboot into recovery it works for a little and then shuts down.
I am running CM10 stable; however it doesn't seem to be a problem with the software. Any help at all would be most appreciated!!!

how do you know its not a problem with the software.
revert to 100% stock and see if the problem persists.

The guy I bought it from was having the same exact issues. He had 2 screens, and the other one worked fine and this screen caused a boot loop. I will try what you said and let you know if I have any success.
Okay so my old recovery wouldn't work so I flashed CWM. I was able to do a backup, but how to I transfer the backup to my computer? After that, I should be able to return to stock to see if that fixes the problem.

So I was rockin' my 4.1 rom earlier and listening to music when my headphone cord got stuck on my chair and my phone fell off my desk to the ground. Everything was still going but my touch screen stopped working. I hit the unlock (power) button and it would show the correct unlock screen but I could not slide to unlock.
I pulled the battery and ever since then my phone would not boot. Stuck in boot loops, etc. I tried restoring from Nandroid (even back to my 4.0.4 image) and it would get stuck on unable to load /data at the end. I eventually went back and installed Nexus Toolkit 7.0 on my home pc and proceeded to load the stock 4.0.2 back on and root. However, it still is stuck in a boot loop. I'm now at a loss of what to do. My sd card has already been wiped and my phone is still not booting.
I'm at your mercy if anyone can give me any direction - please!

Try restoring using ODIN
the process wipes all data, but since you said its already wiped that shouldnt be a problem for you.
IF it still doesnt work, then it isnt software, but rather hardware, and you should probably go get that fixed
good Luck

Yes you can still use ODIN,
as ODIN is software for samsung phones,
just make sure you use the zerizon file ratehr than the sprint..
or there could be dragons ahead
but there will always be a way to return to stock
Although, i would use this, because it is mostly aimed towards Verizon Users..
http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/rescue-squad/4707-how-return-stock-using-odin-vzw-gsm.html
Sorry for assuming you had sprint..
I dont know what was going on in my head
I found the correct VZW version within XDA... thanks for the tip... I actually have it running right now (fingers crossed).
Good Luck,
hopefully you get your phone back online

Unfortunately, even after using ODIN I'm stuck in the boot loop. It must be busted hardware. Guess I will have to use the Samsung warranty service. Stink.

I actually bought it through Amazon and called them and they said go to Verizon even without the purchased insurance.
My phone looks mint though so I'm very hopeful that I will receive service from the Verizon store.
Does the lock icon show while looping? You might think about a shot in the microwave for 3 seconds (don't take me seriously.....well maybe)

I did flash lock it with ODIN... so the unlock icon does not show. It boots to the animation and then restarts after it shows for 5 seconds. I think the touch screen is malfunctioning and causing it to reboot.
Can you turn it off and then turn it on while holding volume down and up at the same time (i.e., can you boot into fastboot/bootloader?)
If so... it's not over yet.
However, if you dropped it it's probably hardware. But if you can get into the bootloader, at least you can lock it before bringing it in.
looks like your nand chip failed. had the same problem with my S2 and even a JTAG didnt fix it, had to send it to warranty to have the board replaced
Just got my used t-mobile note 2 on monday.I am having issues with the phone where the screen will start scrolling on it's own and keep trying to launch media hub or the weather widget and then the screen eventually freezes and won't respond.I have downloaded the emmc program and my phone doesn't have the defective chips.I have done 2 factory resets and the problem still persists and happens as it is being reset.Any one know what could be going on?If i leave the sim out the phone works fine though.
Best guess water damage. Check the tabs. Also get a new sim.

Did another factory reset but before that deleted some apps i had downloaded and made sure to disable samsung media hub,gps and the weaqther widget and so far the phone has been fine.
Is it factory rom and kernel or has it been messed with? I originally bought an s4. Connected it to a shady charger and changed the polarity of the board. It was hard to get to take a charge and wouldn't hold a charge for very long. Went to have it looked at by a tech. Before he knew what I was there for he offered to trade me for a note 2. He looked my phone over and we swapped. Usually when people get rid of a phone it is not because they upgraded but because something is wrong. I dislike buying used for that reason. I have had ppl try and pass off water damaged stuff and all kinds of randomness. I always boot reboot and reboot and used phone before buying, Keep them there as long as possible to see if something is wrong. Ask a lot of questions. Usually when you purchase a used phone especially an expensive one such as the note2 you want to get what you are paying for and not duped into paying a lot of money for some ones broken mess.
It's factory original rom and kernel.
same here

This may seem silly, but have you tried to clean the screen with a microfiber cloth? This same problem happened to me (except the weather widget part), and after a spray n' clean, it all got fixed.

It's simple as long as you have the ability to read through threads prior to flashing. 98% of problems with custom software installs is due to lack of patience by the flasher. Read alot, flash a little is a safe way to get started.

I've rooted it and have tryed 2 different roms already.Just sad that my note 2 still has the screen lock up allthough using spen remains fine.

Not sure if I am allowed to post links to other sites, but check out: galaxynote2root.com. max has a tutorial for almost everything! Also did you do a full wipe? Whenever installing a new ROM if you get stuck in a boot loop go back to recovery and do a wipe again, also wipe cache, and dalvik as well. Hope this helps!
Flashed thw original rom image with odin but the original will jsut hang at the tmobile splash screen and never fully boot.I was able to flash the phone with twrp with odin and was able to use twrp from my phone to reinstall the jedix20 rom which does install and been working since. No matter what i do with the original factory image it will always refuse to boot past the tmobiole splash screen.
Hello all, so yesterday I went on my tablet (Nexus 7 2013 WIFI ver.) and browsed the net a bit and went to sleep. I recall having around 30% battery power. This morning I wake up to an apparently flat battery (power button didn't turn on anything) so I just plugged it in and did something else. After a while, I took my tablet and started it with the power button. However, it got stuck on the Google logo and never fired up anything. I've rooted the tablet quite some time ago (months) so the cause is not from there.
Things I haven't recently done:
Installing an app.
Rooting or flashing anything.
Updating an app.
Things I have tried doing to fix the problem:
Booting into FASTBOOT then trying the recovery mode = still stuck on the Google logo.
Booting a custom recovery image using Wug's toolkit = frozen at the team logo (TWRP) / black screen (CWM).
Flash Stock + Unroot (Soft-Bricked/Bootloop) = FAILED (flash write failure).
So now I'm really stuck and desperate to make the device work again. I've been reading all day long and trying all sorts of solutions to no avail. And it seems far-fetched to me for a device like this to just instantly brick itself without any reason at all.
Can anyone help me with this case ? Or does anyone has any idea what just happened to my tablet ? :crying:
EDIT: I'm afraid that warranty might not work as the device was unlocked and rooted so it's the last solution for me.
Bumpity bump
No one has any idea what happened to the tablet and how to fix it ? I've tried doing some more flashing but to no avail. It just refuses to flash and keeps failing to write the files.
I think you need to leave out on the charger for 1/2hr without doing anything with it. You are probably using what little power it has charged by trying to reboot it, etc.
I had to do that once and it did the trick.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
There is no reason you should not be able to get in to recovery (power and volume down).
You could call Motorola. They have good tech support.
The exact same thing happened to me. I rooted it months ago and haven't changed a thing since then. It just froze up a few days ago. I restarted and it just gets stuck on the google screen. I can get into the bootloader, but when I try to go to recovery, the google screen comes up and won't go away. I've tried every method I can find for flashing the stock image and absolutely nothing is working. I just get stuck on the google screen.
Please update this if you find a solution!
Do u guys have the most up to date version of whatever particular recovery that you're on?

If you can't get into recovery or flash any images it sounds to me like a hardware failure. Bad memory maybe? If you've tried everything then RMA to Asus before the one year warranty runs out.
Have you tried to see if your computer sees your N7 by typing fastboot devices if you have the sdk installed?

Yes, I can get into the bootloader just fine and I can use fastboot. I go through the flashing process and the command prompt says everything flashed successfully, but when I restart the device, it hangs on the google logo. The same thing happens when I try to boot into recovery.

Hey guys my verizon g4 is stuck in bootloop and im not rooted, i cant get the past the lg boot screen, it stays on their for around 20 seconds goes black and back to lg screen.
I can get into recovery but none of the options do anything ive tried safe mode, usb debug mode i even tried factory reset they all just go back to the lg screen.
I was just watching a video on facebook when it froze restarted and now im stuck, ive been restarting it all day and i was able to get it to boot up twice but it froze again within seconds any help is appreciated
it might be the defective motherboard issue that people are having. you could try reflashing the system, but if that doesn't work you probably need a new motherboard/phone
Not an answer, but an experience.
I have an HTC ONE M8, VZW. I s-offed it and rooted it right when I got it. I began adding some of my google apps and it did what your G4 is doing, stuck on VZW screen.
Since I was s-off I was able to get a recovery in and ready. I was able to get a custom rom onto the phones external sd. I flashed it with the recovery and the flash took, no more vzw screen lock up.
Your experience makes me wonder what VZW is doing to force bootloops on unlocked or rooted phones with their retail products. Paranoid maybe, but I can see VZW deliberately adding code to stick it to rooted users.....................................I say this still knowing that many have rooted the current run of devices without issues...........................
luck
i read about the problems with the motherboard going bad, im assuming thats what happened to mine. Lg sent me a replacement under warranty
Update!
i called verizon they sending me a replacement. just to let you know i flashed 13B KDZ but the bootloop was still there i let my phone on and finally turned on quickly i did a factory reset and booted up normal and its working again. still im gonna send it back. just sharing my experience maybe for other people might work too.

What is the 13B KDZ and how did you flash it? Im having same exact issue.
My G4 tanked over the weekend. I was browsing news and the phone locked up, then it shut off and turned back on. It just bootloops now. If I stick it in the freeze for a few minutes, sometimes it will boot to the OS where it starts to optimize the apps. It will get through about 20 before it shuts off and starts the bootloop process again. I haven't even been able to get the download mode to stay on, and when it does enter download mode, it is not detected by the computer. I think my problem is the motherboard. I'm just hoping that they aren't able to figure out I had it rooted!
I'm still waiting to hear back from Verizon about a replacement.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can flash a stock rom back on this thing to try to save my tail? I am betting not since the phone won't stay on long enough to even flash the rom.

They mailed me a new one, no battery, no back. I put my battery, sim card, sd card, and back on the new phone, fired it up. Rolled it back, rooted it, then I mailed the old one back.
Personally, I love this phone, but I think I will be getting a nexus next.
I'll preface this by saying I have searched the forums here and after reading a few threads about similar problems to mine, I haven't been able to find a solution. So, I'm making a new thread in the hopes you fine individuals will be able to help me troubleshoot what's going on.
The problem:
I was running CM 12 on my T800 for a while, but after some bugs and random reboot issues, I decided to give the new IronRom a shot. I went ahead and flashed it through TWRP and everything went swimmingly. I was able to set up the tablet and use it for a while. However, two days ago when my wife was using the tablet, it randomly restarted while she was using it and then froze at the Samsung startup screen. It would show the screen, then blink to black like the tablet had restarted, show the screen and repeat this about 4 or 5 times before freezing at the Samsung start screen.
What I have tried doing:
First thing I tried was home+power+volume up to get into TWRP and do a wipe and start over. But I cannot get into recovery. Once the tablet is frozen the only way to get it to restart is with a hard reset power+volume down, nothing done after that seems to make any difference.
Second, I realized I could still get into download mode, so using ODIN I tried going back to stock. Flashed the stock rom for my region but when Odin is done with the initial flash, it reboots the tablet and everything is the same. Frozen at the Samsung screen.
I've tried flash TWRP again, but once the tablet reboots after download mode, it just freezes at the Samsung screen.
Any suggestions at this point would be welcome.

I would love to be able to, but as I said in the original post, I can't get the tablet to enter recovery, so I can't wipe it. The only thing I can get it to do is boot into download mode.

I had similar experience, and even started downloading official samsung image, with odin etc. However it looks like I was able to enter recovery if rebooting using the following sequence:
- power-vol_down-home combination until the screen goes black
- moving finger from volume-down to volume-up
-> waiting a few seconds (less than 10) until recovery screen shows up.
Then I just reinstalled the good old cm 12.1 (instead of the failing lineageos 14.1), and then all happy again.
