CM10 camera usually put taken photos on SD card, but you can swap between SD card and Ext SD card, then so after swapped, CM10 will automatically put your taken photos on your Ext-SD card. Refer to this page on how to swap CM 10.

I think you have it backwards! The SD Card on new phones, ie. Samsung GS3, refers to the built-in memory. If you insert a micro SD Card, it will be known as the "Ext SD Card".
Anyone, anyone....

But in wonder if you use the storage setting and tick the use internal memory the sd card and external will be swapped. I guess i'm based on that. So maybe i'm wrong. At least it is almost right

SD card = the built in memory from your phone, but some phone have only small amount of memory so you cannot install games/apps anymore because it's already full.
Ext SD Card = have a bigger amount of memory 8gb,16gb, 32gb, 64gb that means you can install more games/apps than internal.
So, if your phone internal is full, you can use your ext sd card as internal which is bigger and it's called "swap"

Menu > System Settings > Storage
SD card = listed as INTERNAL STORAGE. On our Wonder, this is 1.7GB in size.
External SD card = the microSD card you insert at the back of your phone. It's available in different sizes and classes. Under Storage, it is listed as SD CARD.
I hope this clears it up for you.
AFAIK
SD card= internal phone memory
ext SD card = sd card that you inserted
Just to avoid further confusion when it comes to terminology:
Memory is just like the RAM in your computer. It is where a program's commands are queued for use of the processor.
Storage is just like the hard disk in your computer. It is where the programs/apps are actually stored.
When you go to Menu > Manage Apps,
Memory can be seen only under 'Running' tab. In the case of CM9 Beta 1, it should amount to 352MB total size.
Internal Storage is under the 'Downloaded' and 'All' tab.
'On SD Card' shows you what's on your SD Card.
I hope this helps.
Hi there all, is there any ROM out there that supports external sd card.. Am using cm10 - 14 ; I like it very much only problem is I can't use my sd card and am already out of storage.. Thanks

I cant speak for any other ROM as i haven't used any other than AOKP but it works fine for me with my 16GB class 10. I would venture to say it also works on most of the ROM's out there...personally speaking, and i think im probably in the majority here, no external SD would be a deal breaker.
EDIT: According to some (very) quick research its possible it may simply be that your SD card is in a format not readable by CM. Try formatting the SD to FAT32 and see if it works.
Oah thanks.. I will try doing it Nd will surely let you guys know

Move what to the sd exaclty? Also what size card do you have, i've seen somewhere there are detection issues with the larger capacity cards.

So, the external is working now? And you are trying to move something to it? Sorry but you are not elaborating much on what is going on.
Yeah... I wanna moved and save the apps in external sd card.... No, the sd card is not working. How do you save your apps in your sd card when you download something from app store Or like if you want moved it to sd card which is already in internal memory

Well there are several option to move apps to sd. Of course this isn't going to work until you figure out why your sd card isn't being recognized. There is a possibility there could be a problem with your external slot...have you tried any other sd cards?
Are you able to able to save your apps on external sd card...

Now that you mention it i can't..although i really wouldn't want to. Every time i've done it in the past it has causes problems. I'm not sure if this is isolated to AOSP based roms or if it's got to do with the way the external sd is accessed.
i just installed cm10 on my galaxy r and was wondering with the same doubt.
while opening randomly the folders in the root, i found that /emmc is the location of external sd card.. :victory:
I put a 16M SD card on my note II. it looks like only photo and video switch to this Card. how could I switch other apps' data storage to the external SD card?
Such as evernote and donwloaed Googld Music ... and so on. many thanks
There are two ways to transfer apps from internal storage to external SD
1)go to Settings>Applications, and select each app into "move to external sd"
But not all apps support this.
2)second way is only for rooted phones. Install titanium backup. And select "move user apps to external sd card" and can be applied to ALL apps.
One more question the phone seems to store the screenshots and snote exports to internal memory..
Any way to make it store all photos in external sd??

Hmmm.....i dont think there's a way i know
Recently my Note 2 keeps getting errors saving camera photos onto the external
SD card.. Have to save onto internal SD card instead.. And when I later try to move the photos from the internal SD card to the external SD card, the photo gets corrupted and doesn't display at all. Anyone with this issue too..?
Not sure if this is an issue with my SD card or the firmware..? Didn't recall having this issue on the earlier firmwares.

This is the last resort I'll take.. Haha thanks for your input!
Back up all the data via a card reader or put the card in another phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100
Is it a brand new memory card or old one.. which class?
If old then may be it is corrupted
OK now my SD card is totally not being detected at all.
I tried putting my SD card into another phone and its not being detected as well. Could be a spoilt card. Its a class 4 8gb Kingston card. Could it be spoilt due to old age..?

You seem to answer yourself mate. Mine died as well but it came back after a week lol.

If it doesn't contain any useful stuff then simply format it
And try using a memory card reader n see wat happens :fingers-crossed:
Hello,
My unrooted Galaxy Note 8 has an external SD card, but it doesn't use it to download and store files as it should onto the SD card. Instead, it uses an emulated SD card from a partition in its internal memory. I want it to use the actual external SD card and not the emulated partition. How do I change that?
I know you can change that directly from the kernel when you're building it in order to enforce that on boot.

Thanks. But can I do that with an unrooted version?
