For people suffering of severe battery drain after installing any rom with Android 4.1.2.
All I had to do was downgrading the modem to xxalj2 .
Now my phone is acting like before with usual battery consumption.
I hope it works for other people to.

Hi, guys
Im thinking about an issue that everyone is looking for the best kernel to chase for the lowest battery drain but i thought the main reason of it is SCREEN, I mean most of drain is from screen using right?
So i wonder if theres no many difference between each kernel at bettery drain?

i agree +1
After receiving the 4.1.2 OTA update, I'm getting a much better battery life.
It used to be dead at the end of the day. Now, I finish my day and the battrey is on 45% with the same phone use.
I also find that apps and mostly google apps do launch faster
Have you also noticed it?
CM10 "added" 4.1.2 into the compilation recently & I've noticed a difference too... :victory:
Can you give us some screenshots of the screen time?

Only with data all the day i got 3.30h and 19h on, automatic brightness, sync on. Google stock 4.1.2
4.1.2 appears to have a big affect on battery life. I've gone from needing a charge after about 12 hours to going all day with charge left

When 4.1.1 was released, people reported that Google Now was a battery hog. Maybe Google improved it drastically.
Those who experience better battery life with 4.1.2, do you have Google Now activated?

To add on to this. I'm noticing FAR fewer wakeups (alarms) caused by Maps services on 4.1.2. That has an impact regardless of whether or not Google Now is running.
They definitely made some changes to location based services considering the menus were modified and additional settings were added.
Using a custom ROM and kernel so I can't answer this. But my battery life using CM10 + Franco Kernel has definitely improved.

Flash stock and it will be better.

I logged in hoping someone had made a topic about this. On 4.1.1 I did not use Google Now because of the effect on battery life it caused. I tried it on 4.1.2 hoping it had improved. In my opinion it did. Still need more days to test but it seems way better now. Even saying that, I still feel it takes too much of a hit on battery for me to continue using it.
Just my 2 cents.

Umm, it absolutely wouldn't be better at all.
Rooting and using custom ROMs have it benefits and my battery life wouldn't be to where it is now (at least not as long) if i was on stock.
Stock is too boring for me. I need my lock screen customizations and backups
It doesn't take away root capabilities right?

I use it while traveling. A lot of the functions are designed to help you familiarize yourself with the area.

The 4.1.2 custom ROMs have done me better overall than the 4.1.1 ROMs.
I haven't noticed much of any difference one way or another.
So the latest cm10 nightlies contain 4.1.2??
It seems the battery life claims are pretty circumstantial. I wish there was a standardized test for this..

Cm10 nightlies are cm10.
And battery is much much better.

I never let any Rom to settle down(for more than 2 days) to comment on battery life, but i hope the thread is pointing to facts
So now in Stock will report back after 2 charge cycles at least
The map process is eating my battery to. I reserve testet it yesterday (nandroid of 4.1.1 back) no problem and then again OTA to 4.1.2. Anyone out there a possible resolution ? Had 2-3 days with my battery, now maybe one day.

If you use some sort of Recovery like CWM it does not. CWM will ask you if you want keep recovery and/or root.
Hi guys,
So recently I started noticing that when my phone has been fully charged, it would say 100%. But when I unplug it, it says 98%.
Is there a problem with my battery? Do I need to delete my battery stats file or something? I'm running stock battery.
Also I've noticed this across different ROMs.
Thanks

It's not your battery. Happens to me too.
My phone is a week old and does it also.

i think that it has to do with the roms lately and battery stats has nothing to do with it and battery calibration wont solve the problem either
has to be rom based
Not sure about 4.2.2 roms, but its been a known bug on 4.1.2 since official jb came out, and is on roms based off it o believe!
Nothing we can do....yet.
Sent from my cell phone telephone....
Thanks for the feedback guys Glad its not a problem with the hardware
EDIT: Ran out of thanks I'll get some tmrw and give it to y'all

Obviously Yes i was on custom Rom and later just after getting bored installed a 4.2.2 rom and gave amazing battery life on Paranoid android.
You can get 4.1.1 battery performance on XXDMB2 4.1.2. No other based rom or 4.2.2 able to complete.
It is easily give you 24 hours usage time and 7 hours on screen usage.
I has posted a lot of photo usage proof on sotmax rom thread.

Well I'm curious what is this excellent battery life you get out of 4.2.2?screen time and overall battery life?
I get maximum 5hours screen time no matter what 4.2.2 rom I use. And with stock 4.1.2 I get Atleast 7hours screen time with 24hours+ battery charge.

I've tried a couple kitkat roms for my note 2 and the battery drains at 15-20% an hour with no activity. It's also slow to charge.
Is this common with 4.4.2? Should I stick with 4.3 for the time being?

Trying and using are a lil different.[emoji48]
Trying we flash it (Rom) then if it's not acting right we flash something else...
Using is when you AT least let the Rom settle into your phone/device. A day or two should be good enough to know what's doing what...

Another thing is your kernel and your setting that affect your battery life...

Bajanman is dead on. Gotta let the ROM settle.
However, in the meantime, check your Location settings. In "Mode" take it off "High Accuracy" and change to "Battery Saving"
This was draining my 4.4.2 ROM'd Note 2 badly.
I always get great battery life with my note 2 on 4.4.2 roms.
