Hey guys the problem started this morning. The phone was restarting again and again. I am on aosp 4.2.1. I fixed the problem by powering it off and removing battery for sometime. This has fixed the prob for now. But the same problem is being faced by by friend. He is on stock rooted 4.1.2 with franco kernel. But no matter what we do the phone still restarts again and again. Tried clearing cache, dalvik cache but the problem doesnt go.
One more question i have is what is the max no of apps our phones can handle? I have seen android getting laggy after installing 80-90 apps/games.
Try a non-Smart Reflex kernel (Faux makes them) for the restarts - that's how I solved my rebooting.
As for the lagginess - I don't really know, so sorry.
Hmmm.. i have well over 90 apps on my gnex and it doesnt lag at all using ARHD 8.0 with AK Kernel .. 4.2 is relatively new so for the kernels to b stable its gonna take a while =]
A lot of people are saying this issue can only be fixed with a factory reset. That's really the only way to go.

I am on stock and it does it randomly, maybe once or twice a week.... Not repeatable.
Today again the phone restarted, i guess the fb update has some problem, it started happening after i and my friend updated it, unistalling it now and will see if it happens again. Also i try faux kernel later if this doesnt solve the issue. Thanks for replying!
Faux kernel without smart reflex? It doesn't have "sr" in the filename.
Otherwise, it could be an app. Look for the last kmsg file and see what it says there (at the bottom).

About a month ago I downloaded and installed the latest Cut&Paste ROM.
Really like the battery life. Been working well but recently it the phone started to randomly reboot and now I am seeing something really weird. The whole screen looks, I guess you would say over exposed. Like it is glowing or something.
I rebooted a few times and it went back to normal, but now I try to restart the launcher (using Halo) or reboot, shut down, take out the battery when it comes up again I am still getting that strange coloring.
Has anyone seen this before?
Looks like there is a new update to Cut&Paste. Maybe try that?
Please post questions in Q&A

yeah try the update, but clear /cache and dalvik or factory reset before you flash a new or updated rom.
Turns out I already had the v2.61 Extra Crispy version. I did wipe everything and cleared the caches, reinstalled the rom and I am seeing the same thing.
Even when I was on the clockwork recovery screen I was seeing the strange coloration/over exposure.
I am thinking it must be the phone itself. Probably on its last legs. Have people bought new Epic 4G phones or just moved on to a newer one?
Today my note 2 started freezing. It has never done this and I do not know what is causing it. It is still doing it. Im not doing anything in particular, just using the phone and it freezes and takes 10 or 15 seconds to come back. Ive taken out the battery, updated apps, and it is still freezing. Im stock. How can I figure out what is causing it to mess up?
Any number of applications could be causing this problem.
Try the basics first.
Clear caches for your applications....and you can also boot into the stock recovery and wipe the cache there.
Also check any new applications you have recently added to the device. If the problem persists after clearing caches and rebooting, then you can look deeper.
Hardware issues are always possible but it's early in the diagnosis and I doubt hardware is bad at this point. ...g

How do I clear the applications cache?
Menu-settings-applications manager...
Once there, you can see each application, and clean it's cache one by one if you choose.
By booting into recovery, you can clean the cache for the entire device and all of it's applications at one time.....g
Any new hardware lately that uses BT 4.0, like a Fitbit Flex? I've noticed reboots since I got my Flex. I run Perseus kernel, so it could be the newest update, but my wife runs full stock unrooted and said her phone restarted this weekend. She has a Fitbit Flex paired with her phone also.

OP is having freeze issues, not random reboots, and nothing related to Blue tooth pairing issues.
This post will only serve to confuse the OP, as it's wayyyyy off topic.....but thank you for the other thread concerning the blue tooth issues...g

I posted it in this thread because my phone is also freezing, as it just did, before restarting and getting stuck at boot screen, requiring a battery pull. OP says that he has tried battery pulls, so I assume his is freezing to the point that he must pull the battery.
It's on topic and relevant.
When a poster asks how application caches are cleared, it's generally not a good idea to post blue tooth pairing issues don't you agree ??
I think this thread needs to go a bit slower than that, while the OP has a chance to read and learn a bit more first.
Just a thought....and sorry for the highjack OP, we are all trying to help.....g
I don't have enough posts to post in the thread specific to this ROM.
Anyway, I just installed version 2.1 today and get the sleep of death every time the phone goes to sleep (both the timed sleep or me manually locking). The power button has no effect. Even holding it down does not do a force restart. I initially did a dirty flash thinking that was the problem. I did a clean flash and now am still getting the problem. Using the phone seems to be fine other than this issue... which isn't a small issue I can just overlook.
An incoming phone call is the only thing that I've seen wake it up.
Any ideas? Bad download?
I've had the same issue. Also my 3G wouldn't work on that ROM and I had the JB modem installed. I just want back to ol' faithful, CM10.1 some people are having an awesome experience with that ROM but I wasn't.

I love CM ... However, it has one huge flaw. I can't use the MHL out. I need to be able to use that.

Try to disable the ripple effect and see if that helps. Also check the md5 of the download to make sure it isn't a bad download; if you search the play store for md5 checker, it will make the process easier, but you could also use ES File explorer.
Hi,
I had recently flashed aokp 4.3 nightly version released on 28-09-2013. I moved from AOSP 4.3. But what happens when my phone doesn't connects with internet (wifi or data) it works like charm. No lag, no force closes, nothing.
But as soon as it connects with internet it starts lagging. Force closes all apps which i open. I tried franco kernel nighly build 391 and increased CPU frequency also but all in vain.
Just for reference i had installed Paranoid gapps for 4.3 (i think it doesn't make any difference) and recovery twrp latest.
Anyone know what this issue is all about. Is it normal and something which can be solved
Please help.
Thank You

From what I read it should have worked. I'm not a hater but Franco always gives me trouble, have you tried packed AOKP kernel? Its pretty sweet! I had used CM gapps but when switching to the second nightly I reinstalled with AOKP gapps.
Had to answer this when I seen ya call it AOPK lol ( edit: might have been seeing things)

Ahh thanks for the AOPK mistake
Ok, i tried AOKP kernel with AOKP gapps. Now its working fine without any force closes
Can you tell me one more thing. Sometimes what happens my phone suddenly gets restart if the phone gets heavy processing, now when it restarts it just stuck at "Google" logo and not comes to AOKP starting screen. I have to start the phone in recovery and clear cache and dalvik and then it starts normally that to if i put it a side for 10 minutes or so (by detaching the battery from phone)..
Can you know whats the problem is all about.... Ahh yes my phone is giving hell lots of problem
Thank Again

If its restarting once in a while (does to me also with heavy use on stock kernel) try downloading trickstermod and see if you can change the limit %.
If you can't with stock kernel I know you can with Franco.
If that doesn't fix the problem it could even be the latest AOKP nightlies giving you an issue, I know the second last nightly (Oct 6th not Oct 10th) was causing me all kinds of issues. I just downloaded the latest (10th) and so far it seems to be going well with no restarts but I haven't gamed.
I got a question for you if applicable, do you use Google play music at all?
I keep getting songs randomly pausing or play music force closes with no notice (no toast pop up or nothing)

Guys, I have this one major issue with audio in my phone and its the rarest of the problems! The whole audio output stops completely. By completely, i mean even the receiver sound. completely dumb! cant hear anything if someone calls me. This has been occurring since a month or so. I am running on Cyanogenmod 11 M8. Even if i restart the phone its stays the same way. And all of sudden, randomly, the audio back again, working properly. when it goes dumb it stays like that for 5 6 hours. it happens quite often. this is throwing me off totally.
Device : Galaxy S3 SGH i747 - At&t
This problem happens:
1) when i am on call, suddenly it goes mute.
2) when the phone is kept idle for more than 3 4 hrs. So every morning its dumb when i wake up.
These are what I've tried and what I've found out:
1) I reverted back to stock 4.3 to check if its the problem with audio hardware. But in stock it worked perfectly and flawlessly. no issues there. SO its definitely got to do with cyanogenmod.
2) I flashed ktoonsez kernel on CM 11 M8, to check if its kernel problem. But its happening again. SO its not the problem with kernel.
3) I recently found out that if I wipe the cache from recovery, audio is back working. SO its definitely something in the cache thats messing with the audio. Some app may be.
this thread can be referred for more details on this issue:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/81373-audio-stops-working-from-time-to-time/
and I dont know what else to do now. Ive tried uninstalling all the apps that access audio. But the problem still persists.
I really really need help fixing this one. PLEASE HELP.

I've had that issue a month or two ago but haven't seen it on the latest ROMs. I'm not sure what causes it but I would suggest you flash another ROM if CM messes up with your sound (or another version of CM).

Hi, Thanks for the response. I personally like CM and the extent of customization it offers. I actually dont mind switching cuz sound is bigger deal. Would you mind suggesting ROMs that are similar or comes closer to CM and also good at the same time? which ROM are you on?

Hey it got fixed in the latest nightly ( cm-11-20140721-NIGHTLY ). I had put it in cyanogenmod forum, I guess they read the issue and fixed it. Audio is perfectly fine now! Feels so great to use cyanogenmod again.
Thank you cyanogenmod!
I have this issue too but it doesn't have to do with the audio disappearing; it's simply gone from the get-go after clean flashing a ROM.
As you've said, stock FW and ROM works fine, but anything custom will just totally break it. Seems to be a very isolated issue with the phone itself, I've searched all over for people with the same problem but could never find anything.

Oh. It used to happen to me once or twice. No audio when I install CM, after it boots the first time. I think you should check the new nightly of 7/23. Looks like its fixed. They've fixed a number of audio issues over the last few nightlies. And I've always preferred CM over any other roms, so I've no idea about why it isn't working on other roms.

Thanks for the suggestion, I may as well give it a try since most everything else I've tried has had the same issue.
edit:
Clean flashed latest CM nightly, sound worked for around 2 minutes, then stopped when I plugged headphones in. Rebooted, got it to work via speakers again but then DSP manager force closed and left me without sound.
Rebooted into recovery, cleared cache, still no dice.
Going to try another clean flash to see if I can get sound to last a while longer.
edit 2: It seems to be screwed completely now, no sound after install + reboot.
