How to install Photo Sphere app in my Note 2? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to install the photo sphere app in Note 2? My note 2 is already rooted. And if it's possible is it stable? Will Google ever release it to non nexus device?

Search for android 4.2 camera and gallery apps, they work, photo sphere works fine. Just be aware that installing the gallery app can make it tricky to set the wallpapers for lock screen and home screen. But if you freeze it, then set your wallpaper then un freeze it you'll be fine.
You need the gallery app to get the camera to work. Both are required.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Jelly Bean Gallery Function

Hey guys,
Just got my note 2 two days ago, I am an android noob as this is my first android phone. I saw through the new additions of Jelly Bean at android webpage and I tried these two bullet points ->
1) You can now swipe from the camera viewfinder to quickly review photos you've taken without having to leave the camera app. You can swipe back to the camera viewfinder to start snapping photos again.
2) When viewing photos in Gallery, you can pinch to zoom out to enter "filmstrip mode" and rapidly review photos. When viewing photos in filmstrip mode, you can swipe up or down to delete an individual photo. You can also undo the delete with a single tap.
But it doesnt seem to work. Am I doing it wrongly or is there something I am not aware of?
That's a 'vanilla' Android feature, not present in Samsung's camera and gallery for this device. Android comes in many flavours.
If / when 'AOSP' builds such as Cyanogenmod are released for the Note II, those will function as you describe.

The gallery on the note 2 is totally made by samsung and it's not based on the jellybean gallery.

Help me get rid of the 4.2 Camera App

I'm on stock 4.2 JB rooted and unlocked bootloader and all.
I hate the 4.2 camera. It's plain lame. I get it that the photosphere thing is nice, but it takes a lot of patience to get a decent pic. So, meh....not a big fan. The controls are OK..convenient settings instead of going thru 5 steps to adjust the exposure etc is good. But what I miss the most is live zoom in option. Its there in the 4.1.2 in video mode. Allows you to zoom in while taking a video. Where's that in the 4.2 camera? Also, I've noticed that the camera has become laggy. Doesn't focus as well as the 4.1.2 app did. I could really take at least 10 pics within 3-4 seconds..all with decent focu...but this thing does take 8-10 photos but all crappy and out of focus. Anyone else face this issue? Anywhoo....the bottom line is I hate the 4.2 camera. To each his own. I love everything else about 4.2. How can I get just the 4.1.2 camera back? I tried to extract it from my nandroids and TiBu ...and install it.....but it force closes on me. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the 4.1.2 camera app on 4.2?
Lot of times the ICS camera, JB camera got released on its own and I remember having the ICS camera on my Atrix 4G running GB.
Help me get rid of my 4.2 camera app and get 4.1.2 back.........
Thanks,
vG

pull the gallery and camera apks from a 4.1.2 rom and push the apks to system/app set permission to rw- r-- r--. (delete the 4.2 camera and gallery before moving the 4.1.2 apks)
zoom is still there in both camera and video format. just pinch out (is there a such a term?) and you can zoom

You are my favorite person for today. I feel soo dumb for not trying that. Thanks. But I still don't like it for the way it focuses.

Kitkat Gallery and Camera (Android 4.4)

After I just saw, that KitKat's AOSP Gallery is supposed to feature an awesome photo editor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOs0vLY6FvA
I tried to install the Nexus 5 Camera and Gallery APKs.
Camera: http://goo.gl/VEBuiq
Gallery: http://goo.gl/a2QHTA
Interesting enough, camera and gallery are now separate APKs. I was running the 4.3 versions before, but had to hack the camera so it runs on my i9305, and system libs filtershow_filters, mosaic, and lightcycle were required.
These APKs seem to run without root (?), and I was just able to install them like any other regular APK. I'm not sure though if that would be the case if I hadn't the 4.3 versions installed before.
Bugs:
- Gallery's photo editor FCs (damn)
- Camera's photo sphere does not work in portrait mode (but is fine in landscape)
Improvements:
- Camera's flash finally flashes at the same time the picture is taken. ^^
Questions:
- Is it true that camera and gallery are working out of the box without the need to root and push .so files to /system/lib?
- Can anyone bring the gallery's photo editor to life?
I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (i9305) with rooted stock Android 4.1 and Nexus 4 camera / gallery working before.

The only problem I found with the camera. I took a picture last night in the dark. The picture took and the flash worked but the picture was pretty much like taking a pic with a phone backlight

Camera still requires libs. You can download it here and copy it to /system/lib (chmod 644). Gallery editor still not working. If anyone knows how to make it work, do update. Thanks.
i9300, SlimBean 4.2.2: Taking Photos, Photosphere (Portrait and Landscape) works (including libs from x86phre3x)
Viewing Photosphere is only possible as photo, the photosphere button shows no reaction
I hope you find a fix for Camera's photo sphere in portrait mode soon

wow nice, thanks for sharing
installable apk needed
Hi,
If possible can u make this flashable zip as installable apk?
moreover does this install as additional camera or replace the stock.
can I try this in stock 4.3 version?
I have flashed the zip on my 4.3 stock and all works fine but panorama doesnt work.
When i switch to panorma the screen stays black, but it make the panorma picture and save it. The picture self is ok.
Is there a apk with working panorama that i see it on the screen?

Looking for Gallery app (S4/Note)

Since 4.3, my gallery app is absurdly slow to open, and I'm looking for a replacement. Something similar happened with the camera app, and installing the Note2 camera port fixed the lag problems.
So the only restrictions for the gallery are that it must open as the default picture viewing app from within the camera (that's why I suppose only official Samsung galleries will work - S4/Note), and preferably have an editor.
If there's a way to make QuickPic open up the camera pictures from the camera app, I'll take it. But if not, are there any working ports I can test?
Thanks!

[SOLVED] Photo Sphere capable camera

on my old Samsung (CM13), I used to have Google Camera app installed. I have used it only for Photo Spheres, as stock camera app was good enough for everything else.
Google Camera got device-related limitation in recent versions, so you cannot install it from Google Play directly unless you own some Google device. so, I just went to APKMirror and found some 3.2 arm64 apks.
so, on OP3 Google Camera 3.2 works, but when it comes to capturing Photo Spheres, it becomes really slow. each tile takes 5 - 10 seconds to take, while old Samsung used to capture it 10x faster.
is there any way to fix this or do you suggest any alternative Photo Sphere camera app to replace Google Camera?
thx.
+1 for this topic. Also, Google Camera is not able to focus manually...
Hi,
I currently ran into the same issue. I used the GCam a lot on other devices to create photospheres. But with the OnePlus3 this is nearly impossible. After focusing on the next blue dot the cam need 5 seconds go take the picture. I currently couldn't figure out whats the problem is. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Attached google-camera.log. Log created while using Google Camera and taking a photosphere (not complete).
I can confirm the same problem arises when taking photo spheres from within the app Google Street View. Has anyone found/made a fix yet?
I'm running Google Camera v. 3.2.045 on CM13 (nightly 0816) and photosphere works exactly as expected. There's maybe a second delay when hovering over each guide dot, but that's what I remember it always being.
fixed in OOS 3.2.2
photo sphere works as expected
I dont think Streeview spheres work

I don't think this is cured, got new OP3 today (31 Oct 2016) OOS 3.2.7, not rooted, Streetview is too slow to use, I may have to return the phone because of this

I have the same problem.
Use the Google camera to take a photosphere. Then import in Streerview.
Is the only "solution" i found. Google camera Is realy fast
Anyone here that has noticed a big delay when taking a photosphere or panorama with google camera? I use Resurrection Rom. A faster camera app for this would be nice.

Google street view work fast with cm14 or cm14.1 (and probably with cm 13 but i don't have try it). If street view works slowly you have to use google camera (you can download from apk mirror) for take photo sphere or panorama picture. When take a picture with google camera you have to turn on "save position" in settings. Then you can upload in street view.

The problem with the Google Gamera App is that the higher pictures (when you point up) come out of focus It is not a problem with the camera itself, I can take pictures pointing up outside of the photosphere setting.
