[Q] Galaxy Note II Gps Chip - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hiya there! Just bought Note II and been wondering what GPS/Glonass -chip it uses. It's not on SoC so it must be an separate chip.
What kind of a Chip it is? SIRFStar III/IV/? or something even more wonderous?
Cheers
-Mike

I don't know, but it's simply fantastic!
Sorry for the off topic

Probably the same Broadcom BCM47511 chipset as the S III.

Quite possibly. Thanks for the info.

It is very fast, and it locks even indoor. Probably a good one, but not as good as the ones you mentioned earlier, garmin gps with those chips cost upto 600$

BCM47511 indeed.
And it works fantastically, locks everywhere and never missed a target to this point.

How do you know? Firmware suggests BCM4752.

Performance difference between int ver and hercules ON STOCK

I'm really curious to find out the difference between exynos/mail and the adreno/1.5ghz. If anyone had chance to compare them CRITICALLY (since they would both fly imo lol) could you share your opinions? Thnks!

I have both and to me TGS2 is faster and feels better.

I have both this and a Sprint Galaxy S2 with the same Exynos/Mali is the international, and they seem fairly comparable.
I haven't noticed a big speed difference anywhere in day-to-day use in the few days that I've had both.

In the couple of days I've had both, I haven't been able to notice any consistent difference in anything except benchmarks. They really seem pretty similar.

Thank you couple more questions! Does the hercules have korean as a language option? And which of the 2 sgs2 do you reckon has a better sound output through headphones? I'm trying to find out whether it has wolfson or yamaha dac lol

I'm pretty sure all Galaxy S2 use the inferior Yamaha DAC. You'll have to go another manufacturer or last-gen to get Wolfson as far as I know.
I can't check for you on stock on language, but my Hercules running Juggernaut has Korean as a language option.

Really, that sounds interesting. You got a link?
If one of them would have it, it should really be ours, which is a real oddball in the family.

Well it's not our phone that has the superior audio chip, we've got the Yamaha chip as anadtech.com had a review that tested the specs of this vs the Wolfson.

That's for the international Galaxy S2. I don't think Anandtech reviewed the T-Mobile.

SPH-L710 passes Wifi Cert. Any ideas?

The Epic Touch is SPH-D710 so what could this one be?
I am gonna go on a limb and say "L" for LTE. Maybe it is a LTE Epic Touch.

Ohh Good thought! I was trying to think what the L could be. Maybe it's the Nexus then?
It would be amazing if it was lte epic 4g touch Hd with exynos 1.5 =)
Hmmm...I'll update our store's cellebrite transfer machine on Sunday and see if any new phones are listed.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Obviously it is a modified version of our phone. I can't see sprint releasing both an lte touch and nexus since they serve almost the exact same form factor. It isn't the nexus because it has or model number. Probably a keyboard variant is my guess.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
If it has LTE, Exynos, and the HD screen, I will buy it.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yeah, the L is likely LTE, which makes sense because Sprint isn't planning to release any new Wimax phones at this point.
There are some article out about galaxy S2 V2 being released in germany. The v2 is now said to run on a TI OMAP 4430 dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU instead of the original Samsung Exynos dual-core 1.2 GHz.
forum wont let me post links, google it

SPH-L700 is Sprint's Galaxy Nexus.
Seems like sammy is pushing out a new trio of devices:

One of my last contacts confirmed it is an LTE SGS2. Specs are unknown, but it will have a different processor. That is for sure. Possibly OMAP4460 or Exynos 4212

Exynos 4212 would be great! It would be even better if it was the Note though.

It's possible, but very doubtful. Note might be a ways away for Sprint. Verizon would have to come first

I can't think of a Samsung phone that came to Verizon first other than the Nexus. They didn't even get a GSII or the Nexus S.

Difference of processors

Is there any difference from the processor of the note 2 from the s3 and note 10.1? Aside from it being overclocked by 200mhz of course I somewhat read before about something that says that ours has a rev.2 something. Inwas just curious for more information which is why I asked. Thanks!

I believe that is correct... in Europe/Asia. But I thought Samsung used a different chip for the US GS3.
Pretty sure the Note10.1 is the same though
EDIT: Nevermind! I somehow stumbled into the International GN2 forum... not sure how.
The US GS3 uses a Qualcomm dual core

Retirement?

Looks like we may be headed into an early retirement:

"They also decided on sooner than expected retirement of Samsung Galaxy S3. Which may be a smart move, since for the average person, Galaxy S3 design and performance is not so much different from S4, and the former flagship may be cannibalizing some serious SGS4 sales."
This further supports the theory that Samsung's really going all in in marketing the S4...even by creating another variant!

What goes up must come down. Will be upgrading soon but I have to admit this phone runs great. To be duel core it seems more than adequate.

I will not be upgrading. Eventually all the S4 tweaks and mods will be on the S3 maybe. This phone runs way to good to upgrade just for some faster speed. Yes the S4 had better hardware and everything but I don't see it worth the upgrade.

I think the only reason I would, would be for a S4 Zoom or Active.. But I hear the zoom has lesser specs due to the camera hardware. Still have 1.5 years on this contract though.

The active looks promising. Zoom not so good for me because I don't really use my camera. But I know it's there.

I hear that! As long as Devs keep building for s3, I'm not upgrading. I also read that Samsung may have over-priced the s4, which could hurt them if more people are buying their phones outright to avoid contracts...

Well, it didn't take them very long to get the better processor for the S3.... oh wait....
Good, maybe the prices will tank and I can pick up a used S4. Probably have to wait... I'm in no hurry though.
I like the Active, don't see the point in the Zoom. Might as well just buy a camera.

Which dac?

The sound quality on Note 10.1 kinda caught me off guard, coming from Note 3, in a good way! I know the Note 3's got Qualcomm's chip, but what about our Note? Can't seem to find any info on this...

It'll most definitely be a Wolfson. No idea which exact one though.
All the Exynos chips have had Wolfson chips (except for the one in the S2).
Hi!
Is there any confirmation about the DAC in the LTE version? Is it a Wolfson?
