[Q] returning to 2.3.4 - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I rooted my phone (xperia play r800i) and unlocked it, and put the CM9 rom on it.
Now I would like to return to my normal official rom.
How can I do it?

Download the ftf for your phone here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24610138
Download and install flashtool
Open flashtool
Enable USB debugging on your phone
Plug in your phone
Drag the ftf to flashtool window
Turn off phone, hold back key, plug in again
Wait and done.

1. Ok, but how am I suppose to flash? Just to connect and boot my phone to flash mode and
then what? It will do everything else alone?
2. Oh great.. I'm talking from my phone either..

Open flashtool, drag the ftf to flashtool and it will start loading, then just follow and wait.

Hey buddy the Flashtool is bugfree is never wrong. If it asks for you to install the drivers DO IT and I dont believe if you installed them correctly. In order to install the drivers correctly go into your flashtool in your C drive and find a folder called Drivers. There is a .exe and you must accept all the permissions.

I tried the generic UK, but I`m not from UK.. there isn`t anyone there that is to my location (IL)..

I was having the same problem. So, I just install Dixperia 2. Good speed, Xperia game launcher, playstation pocket, full touchpad and controls...
Highly recommended.

Xperia Arc S won't start after updating to ICS

I used PC Companion to update my Sony Xperia Arc S to ICS (Official Sony update). The update did not complete and showed an error. When I tried turning on my phone, it displays the Sony logo, followed by the image of a phone with an exclamation symbol next to it. Then the phone goes blank. I even tried removing the battery and putting it back. Also tried charging my phone. The same thing happens. I don't know what to do. Please help guys. I'm scared that I won't be able to revive my phone!
Flash an .431 firmware through flashtool on you arc and it will be fixed

If your bootloader is locked then you can try using seus (dont use pc companion it always fails for me too) and dont panic its only soft brick and easily recoverable. By the way there is fix for hard brick too.
And if you are on unlocked bl then you cannot update using seus, flash ftf file via flashtool or use patch for it

Did You selected to install fastboot, flashmode and Xperia Arc drivers in "Flashtool Drivers Setup"? (C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe)..I would suggest trying to reinstall your drivers by going to (C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe) running the exe file and make sure you scroll to the bottom of menu that appears and ticking fastboot, flashmode drivers, some people forget to do this and of course ticking Xperia Arc drivers..

Have you pressed the menu key while connecting phone to computer?
bricked phone have to be OFF(remove battery and put back if necesaary if it's stuck at sony screen), prepare flashtool ftf and follow onscreen instruction and the flashtool will revive the phone.
Or maybe you could show the error msg from flashtool.
you are really bold in trying the untested bootunlocker, this definitely is a hard brick. hope you get out of this one.

Sure u hold the the backbutton while pluggin in? and after have selected the FW ?
You've to select the firmware first before plugging it in.

Locked Bootloader
Root access
Had CMW via Xtools, so when I replaced the rom that disapeared!
The problem is that I've forgot to run the 2nd part - device optimization, and now the touchscreen simply doesn't work...
Can't do nothing - USB Debugging is on by default (never forget that I can't touch the phone)
Can't upload another rom via flashtool, the only thing I'm able to do is change the kernel with the 1_lt18i_4.1.B.0.431_kernelDowngrade
If I try to put the uptodate kernel, flashtool stops on "Reading Device Information"
Already try to restore it with Pc companion, but no luck
USB device is detecting LT15 on windows!
This is a total mess, I'm lost, and I've googled and tryed dozens of things all day long.. I'm tyred, exhausted, and my 2 day old ARC S is bricked!!
Can someone point me a way out??
Remember:
- USB debbug of (have no access to activate it)
- CMW disapeared when installed this rom, so have no recovery menu
- Bootloader is locked
- Can't flash rom via flashtool
I'm devastated!!
Thanks in advance,

no, I meant, in the "Firmware Selection" window, you need to choose the .ftf file, and what the .ftf file is meant to, for exmple, kernel.sin or loader.sin, so I need to choose kernel.sin right?

Please note the .ftf is thr firmware you are going to flash.
The kernel is .img eg(doomkernelv14.img)
Before you flash a firmware of kernel you must install some drivers for the xperia PLAY.
Go to flashtool /drivers
Install the two xperia play drivers
Then you can start flashing firmwares and whatever
Hit thanks if this helped
You may ask me (xperia gamer) any question.
Thank you

If your friend is not the kind of person who likes to overclock and modify her phone, just install everything in stock with the 42 firmware (that is easily rooted in case she need to root).
1. Download and install Flashtool. http://androxyde.github.com/
2. Go to the folder where you installed Flashtool, look for the drivers folder and install the file "Flashtool-drivers.exe". Select the Xperia Play drivers.
3. Now open Flashtool, unzip and flash this firmware (R800_4.0.2.A.0.42) http://www.mediafire.com/?qqi99r1z592iges
4. Now just wait and restart your phone.
Hi so all these on the computer? Cos the phone just keep restarting on its own..haha..okay will try later! Yeah she just wanna get it working.can skip the root etc for now.

Yo don't need the recovery for this.
Turn off the phone. (If you can't turn it off, remove the battery). Go to flashtool and search for the firmware you just download. Flashtool will tell you when and how you have to connect the phone. You don't need to do anything else but follow the flashtool instructions.
If she just want her phone working you just need to flash the firmware and thats all. The recovery is used for installing custom ROM and other mod's
If you don't really know how to use flashtool, probably you could search for a Flashtool step by step video on youtube.
On my Xperia Arc the issue with rebooting over and over with just the Sony Ericcson name showing was a bad battery. They are cheap enough, just order a new one off Ebay.

problems with c1904 - brick

Hello! My brother years ago tried to root the phone and get bricked. I think hard bricked. Now I plugged it to the PC and get red light and is charging. But as far as I know I get bootloop when I turn it on. How can I fix this? I downloaded and installed flashtool but is for 64 bits computer, and I have 32 bits. Thanks!
If I press volume up with flash tool I get blue light and nothing more. Volume down a less than a second green light and nothing happen

Good news is it's not hard bricked. Now ro restore the phone, you need to download ftf file for your device and flash it through flashtool. If flashtool is 64 bit only, then you might need 64 bit pc. And yes, sony has removed ftf file from the servers, so just search here on xda if someone has uploaded ftf for your region.

Maybe it's because drivers are not installed. Go to flashtool folder and then drivers folder and then install drivers from it.

I downloaded from Sony's page. But I don't know how to install it. In the version I downloaded of flash tool doesn't have the drivers for Xperia M, or if they are with other name can you tell me what it is please?

It should go by the name nicki. With that you should also install other common drivers also
