Hi all,
I just ordered a Galaxy S III since my S II was eligible for upgrade. While i wasn't seeking an upgrade since the S II was pretty awesome, I figured what the hell... got a good price.
That said, I have the Samsung brand car dock for the Epic 4G Touch and I love it since it has USB power that just slides up into the phone. No fussing with cables.
I am looking for a similar dock for the Galaxy S III. The Samsung one seems to be "universal" and instead of having a real docking mechanism, it just comes with a car charger/cable I believe.
Any leads would be great!
I think the samsung infuse dock fits the S3, try searching around here.

The infuse dock fits and works, I use it all the time.
I use the infuse dock too, the only problem was finding a case that will fit it. The one I use does (the Samsung protective cover) can fit the Infuse dock without having to be removed but provides very little screen protection. Wish there was a case as thin as Sammy's which would 1) fit into the dock and 2) rise around the edges to protect the screen.

Have you checked out the iFrogz/ZAGG Lean? I got it for my gfs GSIII and thought it was a nice shell. Not sure if it would work with the dock or not.

Same here, have been using their docks for close to ten years. They are on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.

Check out craigsdock.com. It's expensive at $68 but is a pretty nice dock.

I combined the iBolt dock for GS3 and the CD Slot Mount and it works perfectly and I don't have to put a suction cup on my window. If you'd like to know how it looks/how it turned out PM me for pics. Cost with everything I needed to do so was $60 shipped.

We just got my husband a droid 2 global (same size as droid 2) and we're trying to find a case that will fit the car dock with the extended battery. I have a Droid X with the extended battery, and I was unable to find a case to fit it with the car dock (I ended up getting a Zagg skin). I expect that we'll have to same issue with his phone. The D2 extended battery doesn't add too much thickness, but enough to make a difference with cases. We haven't gotten the car dock yet since I want to get it for him for xmas, so I want to make sure that the case he gets will fit it. Has anyone had any luck with a case for the D2/D2G with the extended battery and car dock?

Might not be exactly what you are looking for, but have you seen the "Clingo" products from Allsop? They have a special sticky pad that any phone will stick to, and then you just peel he phone off - I got one in anticipation of me having a Milestone 2, and my wife having an iPhone 4. Obviously, without it being a true docking solution, you'd have to have a separate cable for charging purposes, but I'm tackling that with a USB cable terminating with a socket at the holder, and a two short cables (one for iPhone, and a micro USB for the Milestone).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve.
Interesting, thanks for the idea!
I believe the standard VZ cases might fit the bill. The wife got a blue hardshell and it's slightly larger around the battery area and looks like its made to accept a larger battery and it fits nicely in the VZ car dock.
How do you feel about your X? I am debating dumping the D2 for the X. I have another week to decide.

Yes, it works quite nicely, fits the extended battery bump, and a removable plastic backing comes off of the car dock to allow room for the case. I love it!

As an addendum to this - I've found that if I attach a small magnet to the back of the Clingo (in the right place), this even engages the "Car Dock" user interface of the Milestone when I stick it to the holder.
Here is what I just found out.
I just took a Droid Car Dock from Verizon right out of the box. It was brand new. I removed the Droid2 insert and then tried to place my Droid2 Global with a VZW Case into the dock. It would not fit. The reason the insert comes out is so the dock can support the original droid with the included adapter. From my un-scientific test I just did, the VZW Car dock will not work with a case on it.

It depends on the case my rubbery Droid 2 case will only fit if I squeeze it in (because the rubber grips the plastic). But hard cases that aren't too big should fit (but not with the extending battery unless there is a specific case for the dock.)

There's enough of a size difference between the original SGS2 and E4GT that it's iffy it'll fit.
I have the Samsung OEM Infuse 4G car dock, and can vouch that it fits the E4GT:

No scratches or anything like that? The Epic and the infuse are 1/10" different - not much, but can be enough to scrape paint.
Just want to be sure so I don't ruin this phone right away.

No, size difference is enough that orig SGS2 accessories flat out don't fit the E4GT

This isn't from the SGS2 vs ET4G, this is the Infuse (SGS1) and epic. They are almost exact same size. 1/10 of an inch difference is all.

The OEM Infuse car kit will not work with a case. This would be for a naked phone only.
I just bought the Infuse car kit at the AT&T store. It's perfect. I have a Nissan Juke, and it mounts on the dash just right.
I got 2 of these off eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SAMSUNG...159056?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f0f089010
They are meant for the "standard" (AT&T or International) GS2's but it fits my new T-989 perfectly even with the DIZTRONIC TPU case on it. It probably fits most any device with a bottom micro-usb port on it. It comes with a removable rubber adapter for smaller devices. Not bad for $11 from China. Got it in about 10 days. It's a knockoff of the iPhone Universal base. No audio out ports. Just sync/charge.
i purchased the Original from Samsung only $40, and it comes with extra 1850 mAh original battery with NFC

Do you know if the USB transmits audio and if it has a back 3.55mm jack?
I ordered two of the Sinjimoru Sync stands. They're cool looking and lightweight. I removed the two lock tabs on the cable that make the cable stick in tighter. I'm planning on mounting them to something that won't lift up easily when I try to remove the phone. Overall, worth the $22.

The stand you are linking to doesn't charge or sync. That stand is just a holder with no connection directly to the phone. 2 totally different things with totally different purposes.

It fits my T989 with the Diztronics case no problem and will fit any similar "thinness" case. Snug, but no problem. I looked at the D30 case the other day and put them up against each other and while the left to right size are identical the front to back on the D30 is a bit more and my guess is it wouldn't fit. I was surprised when my Diztronic case fit but it did NOT need to be forced, just a slight push. For $11 you really can't go too wrong.

thanks I ordered one
They are still tight on the base, and would tip over if you pushed them. They're fairly stable, but it is kind of a pain to use one hand to hold the base grab the phone.
I did fix that today. I went out into the alley behind the loft and grabbed a brick. A few minutes after meeting the dremel and a little bit of epoxy, they're stable.
http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6233/6366960059_565143ef63_b.jpg
That's what the stands look like mounted to the brick, and in the Body Glove Diamond cases. I did play a little with some LEDs and lighting the bases up, since they're clear/black acrylic and the light travels through them. I'm going to hold off on that for now, but maybe soon.
to choking am a bit confuse on ur pic is that just a stand whit out the option of charging or a stand whit charger?
There is a cable that comes up behind the stand, and snaps into the stand. It charges, and I bet you could use the stand for other phones, but I can't guarantee that. I know it works fine with the T989.
Well thx for ur response ill see if i get my hands on one this on up coming week

Dear xxx,
I have searched on google about your phone, and it says the width is 2.67 inches wide.
Our car mount's adjustable width size is from 2" to 3.2", so it won't be a problem.
Hope this information was helpful, and if you have any other question, please feel free to email us back.

My phone vibrated and fell out some. It might be more stable if I permanently mounted it to the dash instead of putting it on the windshield.
But give it a go if you want. Its dirt cheap on amazon.

I don't think any of the cases fits with the official dock.
I am curious if the GN still fits in the dock with a skin on it (like XO-Skins full body or idefense carbon / skinomi etc)
check 0.2 mm ultra thin case on ebay im using it, it offers scratch protection only tho but it is thin like no case at all and surprisingly the cutting is really good for a low price like $2 or 3
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Probably not. The dock is perfect fit. Even with zaggs or similar types. Then the even bigger challenge is getting pins to reach pins because the case will separate the distance further. Some serious modding will have to be done to get this to work. Or just do it the old fashioned way. Take case off. Insert phone. Take phone out. Put case back on. Simple and elegant.

Funnier still is that some of the third party micro USB docks have removable inserts that allow you to dock the phone with and without a case.
Bang-up job on that dock design, Samsung.
