If im not mistaken OTA stands for over the air updates. and if you root and flash a new rom to your phone you wont have that available to you. There are a few 4.2 roms look in the galaxy nexus forums for your specific phone carrier, Sprint, verixon, or gsm. and read. A lot of questions can be answered by reading everything in the forums. you look at
Indeed it does lol I'm just wondering if I'm going to get the ota ? Or to I have to do something in order to get the ota

You will have to convert to tajku or yajku firmware versions since those get the updates the fastest. I believe there is a sticky related to this...

Yakju update but you can flash a stock rom with Gnex toolkit found in the developement section

Hello,
I was woundering how to determine what build your using. Google or Samsung firmware build.
I've rooted and installed custom firmware (Team Kang), so I guess I have the Google build?
Nice to know how to check it anyway as I have 2 friends with unrooted GNex's I could check on.

Even though it doesn't even matter..
Hello all
I have a Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250), YAKJUXW) and it says that 4.1.1 is the latest version available to update over the air.
Is it normal? I know that some people are getting 4.2 already.. and mine even isn't 4.1.2
Could someone please explain to me why I only get this version? Shouldn't Nexus devices get the latest versions all the time?
Thanks!
i don't know what's your version ? i mean model... variant i don't know what's it called.. check it by going to Maps/Setting/About and the you will see Samsung ******* under Device.
Who got 4.2 ota? Galaxy nexus should still be on 4.1

Thanks again
Wondering the same thing.

Just got 4.2 on my yakju in Denmark

Because your Galaxy Nexus is yakjuwx rather than just yakju or takju, your updates are governed by Samsung as opposed to Google. I'll assume that you bought your Galaxy Nexus from your carrier. If you're desperate to update to Android 4.2, the only way to get it right now is by flashing the takju or yakju factory image to your device. efrant has posted an excellent guide on how to do so here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
AllBlaxx had the correct answer, if you have another build than takju or yakju you have to wait much longer, because updates distributed by samsung.
AllBlaxx, darkarvan thanks guys for the info.
*going to flash yakju*

Or should i give up and flash yakju ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Give up.
It takes a long time to get JB 4.2.1 for Yakjuxw (more than 3 months, like always...) So that's why I use Takju on my Nexus to get latest Android update.
Will flashing takju/yakju change anything on my phone such as writing languages or operator support?

If i live in israel and want hebrew as a writing language, yakju or takju?

I found there flash-all.bat file
Can i flash the images with just that?
every tutorial is so complicated, especially this one
Not to sound stupid, but what are the 2 variants of the galaxy nexus are being referred to in this thread

While working through the thread would serve you well & help give you a foundation going forward the flash all bat will work as long as you have the fastboot drivers set up.

The hardware on all GSM Galaxy Nexii(?) is the same. The yakju / takju builds are the build that are directly maintained by Google. There are a variety of yakjuxx builds that are maintained by Samsung.
Couple of colleagues of mine using yakjuxw handsets just received the OTA update for 4.2.1. It would seem the update is finally rolling out here in India.
i live in Norway and i've recieved OTA 4.2.1 today. It's about the f......g time
I'm just wondering if the galaxy will get the new update in a couple months.. I know there using the 3.8 kernel and do not know if our phone will be compatible. I hope so cause I don't plan on a new phone until the next nexus device. However it may be that our phone will rest in peace with 4.x. Your thoughts?

There has been an armada of threads about this. Google updates the gNex for 2 years. Closed.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
There is already KLP thread in this forum and in this 'general' section so I don't understand why to do new one thread..
Ofc. Nexus gets newer version ... It doesn't mean nexus can't get the update when some devices gets newer kernel....
And Iif for some reason nexus won't get android update then I'm sure there will be the new version as CM's build version or something like that...
Answer to the question is that Google promises 18 months of development for a nexus device, either way I'm sure developers will make it happen.

Do you think that the galaxy nexus will still be updated to android 4.3 and 5.0?
Definitely get 4.3 with gnex as its still jellybean an its not exactly a major update just a couple of tweaks here an there, why would they discontinue the jellybean updates with the gnex while we are already on jellybean that's just stupid as for android 5 i seriously doubt we will get it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
i think we will get 5.0 also since majority of the phones in the market are still on gb and ics and single core phones, ours is still dual core and i feel its got enough juice to run the future os versions
I think the nexus 4 and 7 will get the 5.0 update, for the galaxy nexus probably only 4.3 hopefully also 5.0

Flash the Factory image via fastboot. Search for a way to do it with not losing your data.
