Console Emulators - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I searched but could not find anyone asking this. (hopefully I didnt fail in using the search feature)
Has anyone tried playing/installing any Emulators on their note 2?
I just tried installing SNESoid and loading a ROM, but it just sits there with a black screen. Never loads the ROM. I know the ROM is good because I used it with my Epic.

yeah i use Mupen64 Plus and it works perfectly for me

Got Snesoid working now! Found a post on here where someone posted a dropbox link to snesoid 2.2.4 (mine was 2.2.2). After installing it, I was able to play my games!
Now to download the rest

I've been using nesoid lite since the evo days and no problems here

Fpse runs very well, though the virtual keypad is difficult to play with. I got a usb otg adapter, at some point will try to get an Xbox 360 controller working with it.

I installed the newest SNESoid and it ran fine. I didn't try it with Sixaxias Controller, but I highly doubt it would be an issue. I didn't try it with Wiimote either.

Anyone got a good nds emulator? I've tried dsiod and nds4droid but they both are super slow. Nds4droid ran great on my n7 so I'm not sure what to think about that...

Any one got psx4droid? It runs for me, but the virtual controller won't show up on the screen. :banghead:

it's not more on a fast working NDS emulator it's more based on the fact of the programming being coded correctly.
I play the Pokemon games and they are fast in the in intro about 60 frames per second but under gameplay it dips below 20 frames per second. what is quite ridiculous seeing how the note 2 in hardware wise blows the Nintendo DS obviously haha. the PSP emulator however doesn't really work that great is onl because it's early in stage development. I played Moto GP all it did was lag.
the PSP specs, the CPU itself it was simply on 333 megahertz. GPU wasn't great either. I even think the PS Vita also isn't that great. granted its quad core but the GPU is the equivalent of a 2010 Android high end phone.

nintendo ds emulator?

is there one that works for our phones?
Technically yes. TigerNDS and Nds4droid both will work on our device. But they are slower than a snail. I'm hoping that the GSIII will have a quad core processor so I can see how well the DS emulators runs on quad core.

When you are emulating something it takes a lot more power to run the software smoothly than the hardware it was meant to run on...rule of thumb I read was generally about 2 to 3 times faster is needed to run it halfway smoothly

There is another thread on xda about it and they say
decent emulation takes about 5-10 times the power to emulate.
and ive heard that emulating the DS is extremely difficult .
They also say that day emulation on pc is not very good....fps low

I can second that. Back before Pokemon Black/White came to America, I played Black on a PC emulator. It was great emulation. From what I've read, it's not the emulator itself that makes emulating ds games hard, but it's the game files used for the games that's the issue. Apparently its also very slow on Tegra 3 devices as well.

A problem with a lot of console emulation is it doesn't take well to multi-threading. This is especially true of Nintendo hardware. Hell, Dolphin (Gamecube Emu) needs a Core i7 to run at any decent speed.

I believe you but it's just so preposterous. On a side note, it'd be nice if Samsung would patch the bluetooth in GB so I could use my Wiimote with emulators. With the release of ICS around the corner, I doubt it'll happen though. At least it works on ICS. I wonder why the BT drivers are so different.

Another TEGRA 3 enhanced game. Where's our love?

So Max Payne is out today and its Tegra 3 enhanced. I had a One X with the Tegra 3 version of Shadow Gun and it had some nice effects over the version I now run on the S3. Is anything going to be developed on Chainfire to allow us to play these advanced versions of these games on our Mali GPU?
My S3 runs ShadowGun, NOVA3, GTA3 and any other advanced game I throw at it no problems (better than my HOX in most cases).
Will there be any Mali enhanced games or do I just have to hope Chainfire pulls a little magic out the bag?
I hope something is cooking for this.

Not for Tegra 3 games at the moment.
I've been playing Max Payne on the S3 and it looks good enough. You can also adjust the screen resolution from inside the game.
Even if the Tegra 3 enhanced version had some better effects I doubt it would make that much difference to the game play. But I do hate it when they give all the good stuff to the Tegra versions.

Nvidia is paying developers to code especially for their Tegra chips. It really has nothing to do with actual power or capability...
I'd like to add that I think 3D games or any hardcore games are terrible on a phone IMHO. Also kills battery life like its no ones business. Give me a big screen and controller any day. Scramble and Words with Friends on the other hand...
Yeah, I get cramps in my hands while playing those games that you need to always keep your thumbs on.. But they are still fun to play around with... It's mostly awesome to just have max payne and gta 3 on my phone

Ps2 emulator

Okay.. I have a dumb question, I think.
But would a ps2 emulator be possible to have on our phones? I've been really craving some final fantasy X lately, lol
And if not could you explain to me why? I meam, we can run games like riptide and dead trigger and whatnot perfectly, so a simple lower graphics game would be do- able, right?

Would love to see this, just for final fantasy x. Though its far more likely that in the future it will get ported as an app. Wish sqare enix would stop re-re-re-re releasing final fantasy 7 on platforms that already (though unofficially) had it for years. Stop with the final fantasy 1 2 and 3 and get to the more popular 7 x and x-2. Its clearly possible since gta3 was ported over, plus they would make far more money

If someone started making one know it would-
Probably be fully functional in a few years when a phone is powerful enough (technology is moving faster than ever before)
Maybe there architecture is similar than what we think
I believe PS2 is Linux based and you can run Ubuntu and Debian alongside your phone is

With that said, my laptop still chugs at 15 FPS or so trying to run games on a PS2 emulator. Do you really think a phone is going to be able to run it?

I don't expect a phone to run it now but would it hurt to start on it now with the way technology has started moving we could have a powerful enough CPU in a year of course it could still be 10years off too
They started making the PS2 emulator 10 years ago and most PCs still can't run the games so I doubt any could then but they still did it
And it all isn't about clock speed when your using an emulator its more about CPU structure and if I'm not mistaken the PS2 and arm CPUs are more similar to each other than the x64 system is to either one (x64 and 86 are on an island by themselves I don't know of any CPU that emulate them effectively or that they emulate effectively) so why does everybody compare there PC CPUs when there is handheld game systems that can emulate it why don't we compare those?

Ill throw in a little more here. The EMU's for PS2 on PC where never done right and that is why they are kinda crappy. But if someone was to bake a PS2 EMU from scratch on the ARM processor I am betting it'll be smoother. Once major reason is the AMDX86(64-bit) instructions are so convoluted and screwed up that "extra" code was written on the side to perform standard everyday tasks better(MMX, SSE#, and so forth)
With ARM the instructions are all set for general purpose and can easily manage heavier data rates then a X86 processor. The only reason X86 processors seem better is the speed at which they run. Want proof, find a CPU threshold app on the internet that will let you set the CPU speed and back it down to 1.2ghz and see how fast windows runs then. You would be amazed at the slowness that incurs LOL
all I'm saying is that hertz per hertz ARM CPU's can accomplish more than a X86 CPU can. Think of ARM as AMD was to Intel all those years ago when they changed up the architecture and blew the doors off of any Intel CPU out there. What did Intel do to battle this... Take an older CPU and revamp it to come up with a better design. I'm not saying ARM is doing that because clearly they are not, what I am saying is that ARM CPU's are more capable than X86 and it's just not me saying this even Microsoft is taking notice.
So back to the gusto, I seriously believe that a ground up built EMU for the PS2 would be way more capable than the X86 version(period)
What is the best ps1 emulator? Paid or free..... Preferably free though..... I really wanna play some digimon world 2/3........ also best places to download games such as digimon stuff.... Yes im a nerd.. Idc, digimon is the shiz!

Nice piece, although I would consider the Madfinger games in the list, specifically Dead Trigger. Aside from having outstanding graphics and being free, if you have an OTG adapter and plug in a PS3 gamepad, it feels like a transformed game.
In my opinion, this game is the closest to offering a console-style experience so far with a gamepad, as the controls are incredibly tight. Try it with a controller if you are able!

Madfinger game are awesome and will make my follow up. Here's why I didn't add dead trigger. It is fun but pretty mindless game play and we despise games leveraged by in app purchases. The game has no story and the games here I selected for overall depth not necessarily game play alone. I'll add it as a players choice though in my follow up and thanks very much for the feedback

James Holmes & Jared Loughner likely played games like that. Look where it got them and all of us.
You should read what action/arcade games are as a genre, the majority of his games are adventure/RPG..
Anyway good thread dude.

The android market desperately needs an adventure / RPG genre. So I think he's right in that for market categories it'd fall under action.
I like glwg too although the latest update made it unplayable on the n7. I might try gbwg. For arcade, I do like spirit xhd.
Plus, in all honesty, I think there needs to be a rating system other than opinions.
Order and chaos, while a fun game, is very slow at the point I'm at and is a little choppy for 1.5ghz and 484 GPU on a 15+ Mbit connection.
It should probably be rated based on gameplay, replay ability, game performance / app design, graphics, etc.

Bluetooth ps3 controler\sixaxis question

I haven't tried this lately cause last time I tried using sixaxis it didn't work, it was for a 64bit platform and I have a 32bit platform on my PC. Last time I used sixaxis it allowed me to change the bluetooth address on the controller but it never worked. This was when I had the note 10.1 2012 edition or the first one. I emailed the developer of sixaxis if they had a 32bit version and got no response. I want to get it to work so I can use my Bluetooth ps3 controller for some games that would give me a much better experience. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Now my only issue is while using game pad option in six axis and dead trigger or shadow gun. I can move around very fluid and fast, but fire, reload, swap guns, is unresponsive or has a 1.5 second delay. Very intermittent. And extremely annoying. Anyone know anything good or bad?

None what so ever. I can't believe how snappy and responsive it is.

Yeah, I've been playing through Yoshi's Island lately courtesy of Sixaxis. Love that app. What SNES Emulator are you using?

John NES lite for Nintendo, SNESDroid for super Nintendo and N64oid for N64. What about you? What games do you find work best and are fun?

Hmmm I tried six axis on my Droid DNA and it didn't work. I'm gonna set it up on this Note so I can play some epic games.

Nes.emu for Nes and Snes9x Ex+ for Snes, because those emulators support multitouch, i mean, walk + a + b at same time...

Nes: SMB3, RCR, TMNT, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Macross, Punch out, Megaman (2-4)...
SNes: SMRPG, DKC, Contra 3, Macross, Super Punch Out, MMX (the first)...

I'm using SNESoid for SNES but I have problems with it playing a lot of roms it seems. I will have to give SNESDroid a try.
NESoid and GBCoid both work well though so I use those.
I've been unable to find a button control scheme that works good for N64 games, so I stick to just NES, SNES, and GameBoy stuff.

Same here with the n64 setup. My only problem is the C keys. If I try to map them to the dpad it also changes the axis control.
