Hello,
Here's the thing.I have installed this ROM to my phone but it seems i cannot use SD ext partition.I did the clean install, previously i formated SD card, created SD ext partition using CMW recovery. After installing this ROM, every aplication i try to install he puts to internal memory so it becomes quikly full.In Titanium Backup it stands that i have SD ext. What should i do?.I must say that in some previous versions of this ROM I could use SD ext which I activated manually (Aplications/Development)

i've not upgraded to 4.6.5, but from what i've read the a2sd method is back to old way. so you can't configure each app manually like before.
first thing to try is to backup sd card to computer, then repartition using gparted or 4ext recovery only, not minitool or cwm recovery.
apps and dalvik should automatically be moved to sd. do not 'move to sd', but keep on internal should trick them to sd-ext. use 'diskusage' app to check your partitions. also you should be s-off and cm7r2 hboot to maximise space.

Recently I've had problems with my sd-ext partition. When I try to backup(with CWM 3.0.0.5) my current rom, then at the backup process it doesn't write 'backing sd-ext' and when trying to restore it says 'sd-ext image not found skipping'.
I tried installing CM7 and a few other roms skipping backup, at first install it didn't read my SD card at all, second installing SD worked, but Titanium Backup didn't read the partition and all apps were installing on internal memory.
Right now I'm using a Sense 2.1+3.0 rom and everything is working good, my Desire is S-ON if it matters something.
Thanks in advance.
Check the partition in gparted

I did, even formatted my entire SD card and redid fat32 partition and ext3.
Wipe, reformat and titanium restore?

the 3.0.0.5 is well know to not backup the sdext
(I also think its the unique CWM with that bug..so i dont know why u using that)
use the latest 5.0.2.0...seems to work fine
I have been using this version for a while and didn't have this problem so far.
This bug only happened in the last 2 weeks or so.
And what do you think about the problem with CM7? that is not reading the sd-ext and sometimes not that sd card at all?
My HTC Desire was restarted due to low battery long after I restored some backups (app + data) with Titanium Backup. When I booted back into Android, it showed 1MB of free internal space! So thought it might be the 4 downloads I had, so I deleted all of them and Android then said it had 61MB of free internal space.
Then I rebooted but now I only have 216KB free space!!
This is the second time it's happened and I've tried everything including SD Maid and every single app is linked to the SD card's 2nd partition. This didn't happen when Installing apps from the Play store or from Easy Installer; and Avast finds no problems.
It keeps saying "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped" etc. and the phone is very slow including booting.
I'm not willing to re-flash everything again and manually install each app, especially as the first time re-flashing, Clockwork Recovery said it couldn't mount the SD card, then after formatting, Windows 7 wouldn't recognize it, then neither would (after formatting using gparted)!
I'm only using Link2SD on ICS for HTC Desire 0.4.4.4.1, default HBoot, Clockworkmod Recovery Touch 5.8.0.2, aGPS and default homescreen with no scripts.
This is extremely irritating, can anyone help please?
Using any scripts like A2SD?
Cool story bro. Please post more relevant information so peeps here can help you out. How about letting us know your hboot information, rom you are currently using, scripts etc. ;-)

Edit: also DL 5.1, i found 4.4.4.1 SUPER buggy.
Thanks for the help, I've tried the above and it's been booting for 10 minutes now, should I wait for it to finish or is it stuck?
Edit: After 30 minutes of booting, I took the battery out. It now won't go past booting (the animated 'X screen') and it takes ages to get past the 'HTC' screen to the boot screen.
Edit 2: I booted into recovery and cleared all caches and fixed permissions and after booting it doesn't say the memory is full! Thanks for your help!
What else did it move and is the data on the first partition of the SD card or the second and can I remove the SD card safely? Any idea how the internal memory was filled and why there were issues with the SD card or if they might appear again? It's a new Samsung Extreme Speed Class 10 16GB Micro SDHC card.
I can't move apps from the SD card to the SD card's second partition or to the internal memory. It says, "pkg: /mnt/asec/appnamehere/pkg.apk Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE]".
The internal memory is empty, the SD card has 8GB of free space and the 2nd partition has 1GB free out of 2GB.
Just upgraded to 5.1 and it's the same as above. Any ideas?
Anyone have any idea?
What A2SD-option did you pick in Aroma Installer? I cannot see any Link2SD option there.
Sorry I meant I chose the built-in a2sd but I used this app called Link2SD as I have a second partition on my sd card for apps.

How have you partitioned your SD? Primary and secondary FAT32 or primary FAT32 and secondary EXT? I've never used Link2SD 'cause i prefer the script way, but i think it works the same way.
If you are using EXT for secondary, i recommend you the 4ext recovery, if you are S-OFF you can install it directly from the phone using the Updater form 4ext.net.
Then I suggest you to do:
A nandroid backup
A backup of your SD data
Repartition you SD using 4ext
Check partition allignment with 4ext
Do a full wipe
Restore your SD's backup
Restore your nandroid backup
Re-install 0.5.1 and select built-in a2sd
In rom use terminal like bortak stated, but say NO to moving appdata (slowed down my phone a lot)
Uninstall Link2SD
This will give you a standard installation for a2sd.
If I were in you, i would format everything (except SD card first partition) and start from scratch with the built-in a2sd method without Link2SD; you'll have to reinstall everything and lose every data (backup with TB if you can), but you are sure to run a rock solid method to "enlarge you space"
If you are on double FAT32... well, i cannot help you there
Bortak, correct me if i ever say stupids things i want to help out and you surely are a master in troubleshooting and point to my errors
I'm actually running BCM 3.0U0 + 3.0U1 update with m2sd (with apps and dalvik on ext), 100% V6 supercharged and ScrollingCache patched... i have to say, in my opinion, it finally surpassed Sandvold ICS!
Thanks a lot for the help, I've followed the steps and everything's working now!
I used 4ext recovery, which appears to be a lot better than clockworkmod, with more useful options. 4etx said that the partitions weren't aligned (which I previously set in clockworkmod) so I wiped everything and made fresh partitions which were perfectly aligned. I'm using 0.5.2 now with a full format.
I had/have fat32 then ext4.
I've noticed that most apps don't appear to be on the SD card though. Any advice?
If I do not have a partition for A2SD installed, and I run an a2sd script to enable it on a ROM, and move an app to the SD, does it still get fully moved to the SD? And can someone shed a little more light on this situation, with no partition space, but moving apps 2 sd/
Also, if I move an app to an sd, but do not wipe the sd:ext partition or sd card, but wipe all data partitions, will the app + its data be there if i flash a new rom?
i never wipe sd ext and all my apps are there for recovery once my new rom is up and running. As far as A2SD, i think you have to be partitioned for it to work. And the partition sdext2 must be upgraded to ext3. here is a walkthrough on how to partition your sd card... very easy this is how i did it.

Also if you are not using aomn_ra recovery id suggest using that instead of clockwork. some roms or kernels recommend flashing only with amon_ra
Here's the Amon-RA recovery which you can still flash CWM recoveries if you choose to http://www.mediafire.com/?6eo9jo7fdazp2 you may also want to read the thread on partitioning your SD card mentioned above

Some say ext 3 deteriorates the life of your sd card because it's constantly writing. I use ext 2 and it works perfectly.
Aside from that you must have a ROM and kernel that supports a2sd as well as swap if you choose to use it. Simply flashing the a2sd script won't work if neither conditions are met

OOPS forgot to mention that part. Aren't most non stock roms set up for a2sd? I haven't run into one yet that wasnt. I was under the impression that it had to be upgraded to ext3.
Ok so if I move my SMS app to ext-2 or ext-3, then if I wipe it all but that, and flash a new rom, they should be there on the new rom?
It does not have to be ext 3 to use a2sd. And some roms don't support it or they just don't have it installed
It would still be there, but the symlink won't I believe
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
symlink? What is that?
When you move apps to the partition, which is automatic, it creates a symlink in the drawer telling the down where the app is
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
And how does that have to do with its data?
Basically DT a2sd just sets up sym links from the normal place the apps folder would be to a location on your ext2/3 partition on your SD card. From the perspective of Android it just thinks the folder is in the normal location it is supposed to be then (even though under the covers the underlying Linux OS is actually reading/writing the SD card). This applies to both the apps plus there data if they store it in the normal location (some apps write their data to the normal part of the SD card in which case the data would still go there).
So, if you switch ROMs and that ROM has A2SD support, it should detect the SD-Ext partition and re-setup this sym link for you when you install the ROM and you will then have all your apps back (plus any uninstallable apps the ROM includes should go there). If your ROM doesn't support A2SD out of the box, as long as the kernel supports ext2/3 (whichever you formatted your SD card with) you should be able to flash DT a2sd after you flash the ROM and then run the a2sd script as root to set up the link to put the apps on the SD-ext partition again (I think this will preserve the apps that are there, but honestly haven't done it myself so you should make a nandroid of the SD-ext partition before doing this if you want to make sure you won't have to re-install your apps).
Hope this helps some.
I have a problem, and i cant manage to solve him, so any help will be apriciated.
I installed Runnymede AIO V6.0.4.3 Special Edition Stable Version
Problem is that every new app that i install goes diractly to the sd-ext. The partition of sd ext is 512, but after installing ROM it size is down to about 80 mb. So after installing few apps sd ext is full and i get an error. Meanwhille i have about 125 mb free on internal storage!
I tried su
a2sd remove, but it tells a2sd not found!
I`m really lost, tried everything for couple of days, so if anyone can help me, please do so...
This ROM requires 1 to 1.5GB ext4.
You might need to extend the sd-ext partition.
The easiest would be to backup your phone, repartition through recovery and reinstall the ROM.
I've been using this ROM for quite some time now and everything works perfectly with a 1GB ext partition.
But the rom is allready installed on sd ext and every other app that i installed later is also on sd ext. But now my sd ext is full, so i want to set as my default location internal memory, but i dont know how to do that... Does anyone have idea?

Sd Ext is "internal memory" - the a2sd etc scripts essentially fool the phone into thinking the sd Ext is part of the internal storage. Therefore increases the data storage for your user apps and is where they will install. This is why you have plenty of internal phone storage, but isn't anything to worry about.
Your actual problem using this Rom is that in common with other later sense Roms, parts of the Rom are also installed to the Sd Ext. This is why the sd Ext size needs to be bigger than 512MB, its filling up because its got parts of Rom plus all your user apps on it.
Sure the Rom thread will recommend what size is, needed. So do a nandroid (include sd Ext if AmonRa recovery), copy sd card contents to pc as backup, repartition using Gparted, copy sd backup back to card, nandroid restore.

You should try ad2sdx in order to increase the number of installed apps.

Can you explain it little bit to me? I`m not sure how this works.
Do you mean how the script works or what do you have to do to get the script working?

Do a backup (titanium, so that you can copy the backupfiles into your harddrive), and repartition the SD card. 1,5 to 2 Gb should be more than enough. Your problem is the same one I had with MIUI-XJ. Like people have said over, the problem is too little space on the partition. If you want to keep your messages and whatever else, there are apps to backup them as well. So... Yeah, 1,5-2GB of ext4 partition, than rewind.
But my sd card is already partitioned. How can i erase sd-ext, so i can partition it again?
Personaly if it was me id boot into recovery then do a backup then wipe/factory reset, wipe dalvik+cache and partition sdcard again (1gb) atleast, flash rom (install) restore backup. But thats just me

I partitioned my sd card(4gb) and I still have only 30mb of internal storage and i partitioned 1 gb. What is happening? can i somehow unpartition sd card? Or do i need to find some app or something?
Install an a2sd script, like mounts2sd, or flash a rom that has such a script integrated.

you should activate a2sd scripts using a terminal emulator
su
install a2sd
the above methods can work, but you can't flash them all...and you need to know what they actually do...
@OP first we need to know what rom you're running, because it may (and probably does) have an A2SD script already built in.
we also need to know what hboot you're on, because you can gain more internal memory by being on the right hboot...
after you partition, depending on your a2sd script, your phone won't always see your internal memory as "internal + sd-ext" partition, but your apps should be moved to sd-ext automatically.
further reading here. also recommend 'diskusage' app to browse your partitions.
also, this assumes that your have partitioned your sd card properly, use gparted or 4ext recovery only (NOT minitool partition wizard or clockworkmod recovery, uninstall rom manager if you have it)
