[Q] Possible to port the "Multi-window mod"? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I was wondering if it was possible to port the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 "Multi-window mod" to the Desire HD/Inspire 4g? I read about the article about successfully porting it to the Samsung galaxy s2 on XDA. I would really like that mod and if anyone could teach me how to port it, I would love to give it a shot. Thanks!

I have a bit of a feeling that the Desire HD/Inspire 4G is a bit too slow to handle this. The RAM may be a problem and a slight problem of the processor could be predicted. I'm not fully sure, maybe a developer could input their insight...

And in my opinion, the screen is too small to call it a feature, it won't be useful

i think it will be possible.
if the RAM is the problem, well... s2 got that feature, i think DHD can got too.

Impossibru
Using a Note 10.1 the RAM went from ~500MB in use to ~700MB and the processor increased to 1.4 GHz from resting at 1GHz.
DHD is getting old, it can't handle these things

Ah I see thanks everyone~

New Verizon Phone

Does anyone know of any new/upcoming phones for verizon that have similar specs to the new HTC Sensation?
1.2 gHZ dual core
1080p Video
4.3-inch qHD (540 x960) Display
8 megapixel color camera
Gyro sensor
G-Sensor
4G LTE Compatible
Maybe I'm just spoiled with my Incredible, but when I saw this phone I just about started to drool, this phone blows the Thunderbolt out of the water.

Im switching to t-mobile...
The good stuff goes to T-Mobile because they were the first to get their hands dirty with Android phones.
It is quite sad really. I have felt that Verizon has been getting the leftovers when they pass out the awesome phones. Especially in regards to HTC phones as of late. I really don't want to make the jump to Moto if and when they release the Bionic if there is any hope of a great HTC phone to compete.
(I would miss Sense 2.1 / 3.0 too much)
Same here, love the incredible but want some of that 4G LTE and the thunderbolt just doesn't do it for me.
hope we have a (better) flavor of the evo 3d.

With Moto still locking their bootloaders and HTC vowing not to follow suit, I think I'll stick with HTC. Just give it some time. Besides, compared to Sense...Motoblur is disappointing.

That would be an awesome phone sounds like htc sensation to me
I'm very much hoping that verizone or sprint gets some equivalent to this phone, as it is exactly what I am waiting for...

[Q] Upgrade due next week but is there a better phone than the DHD?????

Hi All.
So my contract is up for renewal on monday and they have offered me a new phone if i stay with them another 12 months.
I currently have a DHD wich i love to bits, but is there a better htc model. they have offered me a desire sensation, or a desire s, but i have been reading up about the phones and none seem as good as the DHD.
And obviously iphones are a definate no no, although it would be good to get one and run it over in my van!!!!
Any suggestions??

If you're talking about the HTC Sensation, thats the best choice you can make ... Dont know if a Desire Sensation exist... Think in a couple of days theres a way to permroot the Sensation, then you will have a lot of fun with that stuff
Samsung Galaxy S 2 is the smarttest choice, HTC Sensation is the second choice. Both are dual core
I would go for the sgs 2 as well. They have Cyanogenmod nightly builds which is the most important thing to me these days. Further down the list is the superb hardware.
Sent from my Cyanogenmod 7 phone.
Sure, the SGS is a nice one, but in my opinion it looks... simply cheap
I have the optimus 2x and it doesn't feel faster than the DHD. I believe later versions of android will utilize the second core better but until then you won't feel much difference.
To your question, the galaxy s series are very fast and with open bootloaders and everything, but the feel very cheap and plasticy when held ( imo ) I wouldn't buy them over the DHD or the sensation. On the other hand they do have cm7 support but many hardware drivers are missing so they don't work as good with cm as our DHDs do. I bet the Sensation will have a more operational cm built before the sgs II despite the head start. If you don't care about cm though or you don't mind/like the way the sgs II feels in your hand, it's the best you can buy.

i totally agree with you, i think if the Samsung was designed more "stylish" it may be my choice, but the Sensation is really more exclusive (?) ... excuse my Enlish, its not my favourite languige, but i try to do my best
Any suggestions??

I would stay with the DHD and renew to sim only contract, saves you a lot of money.
Good luck with the choice!
don't brick a phone with a van, use a microwave.. ;-)
The Sensation now has s-off and able to install custom Roms. Think I saw the info on Android Police.
LeeDrOiD already has a custom rom for it. He supports all his roms well and has a high attention to detail.
I personally would have bought one and LeeDrOiD powered it, but it doesn't support 850mhz (edit: 3g) , which I really want now. ....... So a SGS2 on order.

Indeed, now it's only a matter of time before it gets cm and a plethora of custom sense roms.
Thanks for the info.
Wonder if the battery life is any good on those two phones.
i have got both sgs2 and dhd so since you have dhd u know its performance check out this video for sgs2 performance

sgs2 is a great device even better than dhd but i love the sense ui

dhd and halaxy note

Hi guys,
I've seen a galaxy note and was amazing....
So,I'm asking if there is a chance about porting that Rom on ours beautiful DHD.
I'm also really interesting about some note's application to take note and draw....
Could some dev or other yours suggest to me what can I do? Where should I looking for ?
Thanks all and have a wonderful NRW YEAR
me
First correct your topic that's "Galaxy" not halaxy.
There'r many applications in market that you can draw(only if you need to draw, no need to port).
Please,erase this thread mod.....

So like samsungs touchwiz interface ported over to the dhd? I think that HTC users really don't like samsungs interface at all...although I think it would be cool to see what its all about.

[Q] DEVS: Port a Port from DHD?

Been dead from the phone game a bit... so
forgive the ignorance if that is what this is, but
can http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539423 now be ported back to the EVO to get working cams and such and also to play with Sense 4.0 while I await an HTC Nexus announcement?

A 3.0 Linux kernel is still needed to further progress on a sense 4 port
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Yup currently, only the_plattypus is working on a 3.0 kernel for his sense 4 rom. Im sure we would have one, but the evo is a 2+ year old device and everyone has moved onto the latest and greatest. Sense 4a should be the smoothest sense version on the evo since it only requires 512 ram and a 1 ghz processor, other than sense 1.0. I wish i knew how to build a 3.0 kernel, since i really wanted to use sense 4 and i have this phone till april next year... Im sure the evo 4g section will be pretty dead by then...
thanks for the responses! I guess we'll see what happens.
Still some life in my G1! I'm hoping someone gets it going,
or maybe I'll dig into the os more than I have in the past...
I was also wondering the same question about the Inspire 4g which has a Rom here on XDA that states everything is working including FFC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849074. It uses the same resolution Cameras as the OG Evo. So does the Huawai Mercury which also gained ICS. There are other phones that use the same rez Camera as the OG Evo that got ICS and have been trying to find the answer if they could be ported over. I can upgrade but in comparison to my OG all other phones are lacking and found nothing worthy of my effort to change phones. Maybe the next drop in Feb will bring one but as to date they fail horribly.

It's not about the res. It's about the drivers and kernel. New drivers need to be written from scratch as well as the 3.0 kernel.

[Q] Note 10.1 Tablet Port for Note 2? Has it been done? Who is working on it?

I had the Note 10.1 Tablet for a couple of months and it was a really great device. It had a lot of great features? I'm just wondering if anyone is working on a port for the 10.1 tablet Rom to the Note 2 I feel like it should work great, considering the Note 2 is quadcore and all. I loved the quick menu with the mini apps too. I've searched google a lot for an answer to this but haven't found anything so I thought I'd post a new topic. If it's been posted already Mod please move or delete. Thanks
I don't intend to be rude do you understand anything about Android? My computer is quad core can I port the rom there to? It is impossible to do what your asking, it would be easier to write it from scratch.

Actually in this case it is theoretically possible as they do share a lot of architecture, both are Exynos 44xx series SoC's with a lot more hardware similarities. Now whether it is worth the time and effort, that is a different story.

Assuming you want tablet touchwiz ui. Someone on another forum/site was working on it with original note.
But this is not an easy task.
What exactly you want from the galaxy note 10.1? Is it tablet mode? If so thats easily available for us.
This is xda. You could start the development.
