Hello ,
Yesterday I managed to drop my Note 2 and crack the front glass of the handset. The screen itself is totally un-damaged.
After looking around on the internet it became quickly apparent that 3rd party repair centre's don't really want to touch the handset. I have called Samsung and they have sent me out a jiffy bag to send the handset back to them to get repaired. Obviously this will not come under manufacturers warrenty and I will be charged for the replacement. Does anyone know how much the front glass (not the screen) cost to replace? I saw someone mentioned around $180 however I live in the UK. Any guide lines on how much I will have to pay to get them to replace the broken glass would be great so I dont get a nasty surprise.
Thanks,
J
Mine dropped from two feet and hairline cracked across the whole screen. I bought the full assembly LCD/digitizer. Did the repair per LE55ONS. AOK now. afterwards, I tried to pry apart the digitizer glass. In my Note II it is bonded with transparent gum covering the entire LCD. No way to replace only the digitizer on my version of the Note II
Mine was $249 USD

Hi everyone,
First, I hope there's not another thread opened about this, I promise I did several searches and couldn't find one that was close enough
I have some question about screen replacement.
My dad just dropped his note 2 and damaged the screen (really unfortunate, it was really a little drop!), so I was looking into buying a screen from eBay and replace it myself. yes, it's tricky, but not all that much imo (big +1 to the guy from the YT channel LE55ONS, his videos about this kind of stuff are amazingly well done).
So, the screen is broken, the display is not, but if I bring the phone to the rapair guy he will almost certainly replace the screen and the display for €200+
If I buy something like this
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40
and replace it myself I can do the whole thing and spend some €50 tops.
I was thinking about this one
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gray-Front-O...item3a7dc376c5
Here come the questions. Can anyone point me towards a good screen replacement for something around $20/30? Is the quality good? I asked the seller if it is actually gorilla glass 2 and he said yes.
Also, these don't have any connectors, the original one has 2. I can always use the connectors from the old screen, but if someone knows about a screen with connectors included, can they please let me know? There's nothing like asking to someone who has already done something like what I'm about to do.
Thank you everyone

If you buy the digitizer with the screen attached that's sooo much easier to replace, it's almost not even risky. But it costs somewhere around $200, the same as having it repaired by a professionist. Did you find a cheaper replacement?
Just had someone bring me a Galaxy Note 2 to repair and they bought the replacement part off ebay. However all they have got is just a front piece of glass with no digitizer attached, is this correct? Normally im used to front screens having the digitizer attached or is it easy to detach from the broken old screen
Is there a guide anywhere for this?
There's a few threads on this around, but as far as I know, you need to use a heat gun to remove the glue on the digitizer.

no way mate. don't bother to anything with that cheapo. glass is always attached to the digitizer. they bought the cheapest thing they found.
i have found over the years that saving some money is not the best choice in comparison to user experience or other arising problems.

this is cheaper than ebay which they ask for 166 pounds
Yeah, heat gun will melt the adhesive enough to separate the lcd. But its a very, very difficult process that will more likely than not end up with a damaged lcd or poor reseal.

mariosraptor is right. Glass is always sold with digitizer (it is one item). I haven't heard about clean glass without capacitive layer. You can buy either digitizer glass or complete digitizer glass with factory glued LCD module. This one's more expensive, but you have less work with replacing.
Anyway: buying only digitizer glass for this kind of phones (Note 2, S3, iPhone 4<, newer HTCs...) is waste of time and nerves. It is nearly impossible to separate LCD from digitizer. Buying complete set of digitizer & LCD is the best what you can do for your phone.
Yeah i didn't think the glass came seperate from the digitizer, i have repaired over 400 iphones and have done about 20 galaxy s2 and s3's and never have i seen just the piece of glass without a digitizer on it, i will tell the woman she needs a whole new screen, i think she did go for the cheapest option
This is actually what she ordered:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Gray-...s=63&clkid=5413496726471672632&_qi=RTM1319883
It obviously doesn't have flex, so it is only pure glass. I don't understand, why would any serious seller offer this kind of items.
So, my wife let my 1 yr old son play with the tablet for some reason, and now there is a nice hairline crack across the screen.
Does anyone know of someone who can replace the glass on the tab s screen? Can I sent it to samsung for a repair (i know it won't be free, but I want it done right)? How can I go about fixing this?
I got my screen replaced as well. There is no way to replace the surface glass rather than the entire screen including the glass. The glass is permanently attached to the screen (I saw the service screen unit). I checked the prices and it was cheapest to replace the glass with Samsung and not with third party repair places. The cost is high. In Poland it was EUR 160 for the part and EUR 25 for labour. They needed to import the screen from Holland as there was no single spare part in Poland at Samsung but it took them 4 days to get it here. Regards KL

Thanks. Looks like I'm going to need to have a samsung repair done.
LCD screen got scratches, I think while applying Scratch guard, that man has used some different cleaning liquid and that liquid removed the scratch resistance layer, so it exposed the main lcd and got scratches, thats what I think.
And after that, my N5 was dropped in bucket of water. After doing so much of hard work I removed all water with hair dryer. Mobile is working perfectly. But screen got damaged, screen looks wired and some water in it. I waited for 2 weeks but still water is there.
I bought N5 from play store.
I went to the LG service center, they said as you opened up the device warranty is void now. So they told me replacement cost is 7500 rs. for LCD and for LCD + digitizer cost is 8000 rs.
Are they provide warranty with the new screen if its again damaged?
what if the lcd showing some pixel after few days? there are some chances that LCD can be fake or not upto quality of original LCD of N5. Did anyone replaced their N5 LCD?
Anyone still in warranty (India), are LG service center providing replacement with nominal fees or for free?
I want to replace LCD + assembly. Please guide me through this. Should I buy from online store, street store or replace it by Authorized LG Service Center.
Thank You.
One month a go i have broken my touch but the glass is not broken, i believe this happened when I sat in my car. The phone was in my left front short pants poket, but slipped underneath i believe and that made a bending procedure and broke only the touch.
Is it worth replacing it? and what will be the costs?
If you do the repair yourself then yes it's still worth it. But it may not be easy for someone not used to doing these repairs. Check YouTube for guides. LCDs go for just under £60 in the UK.
If you have to pay a repair shop or use a Samsung service center then maybe not because will probably cost you the same as buying another handset. Maybe.
In service center where I'm working we are changing whole front panel for about 70$ using original Samsung part. Last week we sold used i9195 in perfect condition for about 130$ so as You can see front panel will cost You about half price of used phone. Of course You can buy cheaper phone in worse condition but it still be more than this part. Replacing process is quite simple but to peel off sim card slot is a little tricky so watch some disassembly tutorial first.
Good luck.
When u say whole front panel, u mean touch and gorilla glass. Coz i heard on a forum that the screen after a while become yellow. But i think that was g glass replace.
No, I meant whole front with display cause Samsung S line has digitizer (touch) on display, not like other phones on glass. So if You change only glass Your touch will be broken still. Whole fron is glass, digitizer, display and part of body with silver line around screen.
K thanks for the info!
