[Q] Embedded Location Data in Camera Pictures - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm not sure if I like this feature or not. I think I'm going to want to take pictures without the location data -- is that possible?

Shutting off gps setting in the camera app should prevent this. Are you saying its still recording this information, even when this feature is turned off?

[Q] Keep screen from timing out

Is there any way to keep the screen on with certain apps (Specifically Google Maps) without timing out / switching off.
I used to use Keepscreen but that does not seem to work on ICS.
TIA

Thanks for pointing me to the thread. Unfortunately no solution there either. I only see apps to keep the screen on but not on a per app basis.
Keepscreen was a really great tool. It's app specific so can have it automatically keep the screen on when gmaps is running without having to first launch it / switch it off . Unfortunately the developer appears to have abandoned it as it has not been updated since 2009.
This should really be an option on Gmaps.
Tasker works for this just set it to keep the screen on if a certain app is on.

Thanks.. Tasker shows as not compatible with the gnex on android market. Have you tried it and it works? Want to be sure before spending $6+
I actually used titanium backup to restore it from a previous phone :/

Random voice outputs

I didn't do anything new with my phone for a day or two, just the usual usage. Then out of nowhere when I reboot my phone, I would get voice outputs in Touchwiz. For example, if I'm at the homescreen and I pinch the screen to show the screen previews, the phone would say something like "Homescreen page edit" and then when I choose a homescreen it would say "homescreen page 407" or something. It also says "folder open/ folder close" whenever I open or close a folder. It's rather annoying, how do I turn it off?
Settings, accessibility and look for talk back and turn it off. I believe your talk back service is on which will voice everything you're doing

That's what I hoped but it was off the whole time..
Lol I just noticed I have the same issue. It only happens on home screen when I pinch out. Only happens then though. Probably has something to do with light flow as it didn't happen until i put it on. Does yours open happen when on home screen and pinch out to see all screens ?

Yep, Light Flow is known to cause this. If you've installed it, then that's the culprit. I believe there's a solution somewhere, but do not recall what it is.
Now that you mention it, that did only start happening when I installed Light Flow. I'll see if I can figure out how to disable it through the app and report back, thanks for the help.

I removed Light Flow from the accessibility options and it no longer happens. However, I think the app needs to be in there to work properly. We will see. Otherwise I'll just deal with the issue for now

Can't download mms messages..

So I turn my mobile network off to conserve battery. But if somebody sends me any mms (picture or multi-person) and I turn on my network after the fact, it just perpetually says downloading.

It probably doesn't really start properly since data was off. Maybe try to rebooting your phone to see if it will do it then.
Are you manually turning it off and on? You could try an app that automates it so that when you get a message and the screen lights up (assuming you have that setting enabled) it turns on and see if that helps. Though I have found that using such apps will sometimes cause your data to not reenable and require either toggling manually, toggling airplane mode, or rebooting.

Yes I am using the toggle in the shade. I will give the app a shot but my guess would be failure since the network seems to need to be on when the message comes in rather than an automated toggle after the fact

If you enable screen on for notifications it may have data back on before the download actually starts. It may not work. But I have used screen off profiles before and not had issues with MMS other than the occasional failure to reenable. Do you turn WiFi and GPS off? It may be enough to allow for leaving data on.

Usually cut out everything to conserve battery, I'll give the application tactic a shot

If it doesn't work I would just leave it on. Data alone probably won't hurt battery to terribly bad.

well. what ive noticed is that in NJ it constantly works to stay connected and really drains power, but in NC i can go about 2 days without a problem.
I had that problem but I let the data settle for about 30 seconds before trying to download the mms and it works for me. Turn off auto retrieve too. I don't need to do that on my s3 of course

Good question. Did you flash a new ROM?

For me this has been a problem with cm10 on dkstunnas rom. I'm not sure about aeros rom but turning off auto retrieve is my current working techniques

That's because NJ sucks balls.... Try going to settings, applications and force stop the messaging app. Then open messages and try downloading again. If for some reason that doesn't work, a reboot should.
Try this:
Be sure that you have good connection and you might want to force quit messages if this continues.

[Q] No notification when my screen is locked

Hello,
A couple of weeks ago I flashed the CM10 rom from djolivier.
With this rom I dont get any notifications from my email, whatsapp, etc. when my screen is locked.
When I unlock the screen I get all the notifications and sounds.
I would like to get those notifications also when my screen is locked.
Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Most likely wifi policy is causing problems, you can find it in wifi settings. By default, it is set to turn off wifi when screen turns off - phone just doesn't check emails/whatsapp untill you wake it up ( what activates wifi again ).

Camera Settings Always Reset On Its Own.

Has anyone figured out how to prevent the camera settings from going back to their default settings? This happens at least once a day or even more if I use the gps. I think it has something to do with the camera being attached to the location services with geo tagging. It happens if I leave it on or off. Just gets really annoying having to always change it back to save my pics to internal storage and the front facing camera to 8mp.

I was having this issue several times per day. It's been over a week since I disabled the shortcuts, and the problem is over for me.

Found it. I never even use those shortcut keys anyways. Hopefully the settings stay put. Thanks for the tip!

I just discovered something new. I was trying to save some battery using Snapdragon Batteryguru and the camera settings began resetting, again. So, if you are using a similar app, try disabling it.
I just got the phone (H812, Rogers, Canada) and I'm also having that issue, I'll disable the shortcut keys =( that's not nice though, I liked the quick launch. Hope they fix as I don't like having settings reset.
