My friends and I think that the JellyBean keyboard is so much better than ICS's, actually. When I was running ICS, I actually downloaded an application called JellyBean Keyboard. I recommend learning to use it rather than downloading a 3rd party application since it slows down the system!
Hi,
I may have solution for your problem. I've installed Set Locale (google now issue), and it changed my keyboard to an ICS one.
I really want to use a JB keyboard, so is there anyone who can help me bring it back?
I have uninstalled Set Locale, did a restart, cleared cache and data for HTC Input, and I really don't want to factory reset my phone.

Hey guys
So I installed swiftkey to try out a new keyboard and I did not like. So I uninstalled it. Bit now I have different keyboard. Its not the original Desire stock one. How do I select the original keyboard?
Thanks all!

Not sure how that's happened or how to change it if the settings "language & keyboard" menu doesn't change it back (sorry), just thought I'd mention that if you didn't like swiftkey, give Ultra keyboard a go. It's fantastic.
My swype beta recently expired, and after searching for alternatives I came across this one. So much better than swype. You can customize practically everything. You can change it's skin too, and all the free skins on the market place for the "better keyboard" also work!
There is a trial period before you pay for it, but trust me it's well worth it.

Thanks. However my country doesn't support paid apps.

try a long press in a txt area and see what pops up.
I installed ultra keyboard anyway and while installing it showed me how to change the keyboard. Back on the stick one now!
Thanks!

anyone tried S Voice with the Desire yet?
it installs on ICS so I think it might work
original: http://minus.com/llX3TROSRO4NH
fixed to work on unauthorized devices: http://minus.com/lCWshD37drA9R
Tested it now. Might be best skipping the intro and it fc when trying to change the wake command. Also double tap home didn't work for me either.
Clear data if you have fc on start up. But it does work. Can google search and text etc.

works, but very slowly on AOKP build 35. I will try it later on Sandvolds beta 8.1
It's slow at responding for all machines I think

Works rather fast for me. It fc when I do stuff like 1+1 or something like that. And its slow in opening apps. Sandvold ICS.

i've used the new one for checking the weather for location, sending text and calling - all seems to work well.
I install S-Voice from the apk from frandroid.com
And it works, open apk, understand french language...
I hope this apk will mature quickly
on HTC desire the installaton crash but, after a reboot, it works
nice one!
I do not have a crash during installation.
I'm on ics 4.0.4 bravo cyanogen mod 9 RC 3.4.U1.
And it works.
Does someone test http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673354 on HTC Desire ?
Tried the first APK, but it wasn't for me.
Also it's weird to say 'Hi Galaxy' to desire.
I suggest to wait for a year or so, so that developers can stabilize the system
work
The fix S voice apk and Spanish language works well for me.
I have 2 days with him and I am testing it

It works if u install it as a system app. Although its a waste of battery IMHO.

another fine reason to disable then!
Anybody know where to find an AOSP ICS keyboard apk or similar to install on our phone? Currently running official ICS, with root and swiftkey isn't cutting it anymore, nor is swype or samsung keypad. Already googled it and searched XDA and couldn't find anything

Download CM9 and get the LatinIME.apk and place it on the system/app partition. Then, go to clockwork recovery and run Darkside.Cache
Try searching ice cream sandwich keyboard in the playstore. I have one it works great.
Sent from the Darkside, ICS style
Thanks, I'll try that. As for the ics keyboard app, tried it and it didn't work properly for me. When I ran the darkside beta based on gs2 ics it let me do voice typing and as I talked it would type during instead of waiting until I was done. Trying to get that back.

Did you change permissions using any root explorer app. Permissions should be set like this..

would a permission change fix the complete instability that i got from trying to use it? Thought i was going to have to do a full wipe and restore on the phone, it kept locking up every 10 seconds trying to open keyboard
Ok, so tries changing the permissions and doing a darkside cache wipe, now settings work but the keyboard still crashes out a vary few seconds when keyboard tries to open. Any ideas?

So i recently just flashed my phone with android hd revolution 6.3.1 and i noticed that i can't type with pinyin anymore. the keyboard comes up but when i type nothing comes up. I am able to write out the characters and input them like that but writing is a pain in butt.
I saw on the forum people recommending installing the language from the htc sense settings but my phone had it default so im not sure what to do about it now.
Thanks for the help.
Flash the rom again don't choose CD suite tools.

why not try a third party input method? much much better thab stock sense.
i prefer baidu input with the wp theme.

Now that we have received our new JB 4.1.2 update from T-Mobile (yeah! :victory, I have a question.
Samsung licensed Swiftkey technology for their keyboard. It does look much better and respond better than before. I also own Swiftkey. That said, I'm waffling between sticking with the stock keyboard and saving some memory versus running Swiftkey and having some additional options for customization.
What do you do?
Do whatever one you prefer, don't know why you want the answer given to you, just preference. Don't stop using apps just because memory more this phone has its memory

I stopped using SwiftKey because:
1) it was not remembering the words I told it to remember.
2) swipe prediction was terrible.
Using Swype now.
I prefer the note 2 keyboard myself because it has the numbers on top and I don't have to keep it that stupid little button on the side to make my numbers pop up.

Same here. I would gladly buy the newer swiftkey if it had the option to add the numbers at the top

Or just use the free note 2 keyboard from a flashable zip.

Only SwiftKey can insert space bar by swiping over the space bar without letting go of your finger. I find that really hard to beat. I'll stick to SwiftKey until I find something that could do better.
Been looking
Hi guys first post ever here in XDA. Been lurking for a while.
I have the Frosty JB 4.1.1 v11.2.1. I removed alot of apps through Titanium and when I do a factory reset, I don't have any keyboards. I am looking for the stock or note2 or the new 4.1.2 keyboard to install. I have swype but want to get stock so I can put it in the proper folder for factory resets so I wont be without a keyboard upon reboot. I have searched and all I keep finding is themed KB and cant get them to work. I hate the dev stopped producing the frosty rom, I love it on my phone. Cant find the v11.2.1 or I would just start fresh there.
Thanks in advance.

You can either "convert to System app" using TiBu Pro or move the .apk to the /system/app folder and reboot. Root is required for either.
And just fyi, there shouldn't be a link to the note2 kb in the themes and apps sticky.

Because your SwiftKey is from the black market if you have one from the play store and latest upgrade it will stick after reboot like my.

Thank you all. I found tp2215 library and picked up the note2 and installed via zip in cwm.
Then bought the TIBU, per DJ_SpaRky recommendation. I then made a sys app out of the note2.
I just did a factory restore and whamo, Im up and going.
Thank you all very much.
Glad to hear that you were able to get it done.

Preferences
Its all based on your preferences. I have used both and didn't think anything could be better than swiftkey till I saw the new Samsung keyboard on the s4 Note2 roms. I go back and forth now looking for a new king. I like the option of having the permanent numbers row on the ported note2 but I am also trying the new Kii keyboard on the play store. Install them all and swap back and ofrth in settings untill you decide which works best for you. I currently have 4 or 5 installed.
