Hi guys,
I wanna change to another carrier, and i need something to track my data internet use, but, i dont have nothing like Data Sense on my Samsung Focus.
There is something like that?
Thanks for your help!
If you're using a custom rom, you might wanna look at Nokia Counters. It's the closest to Data Sense. It gives you detailed info, including who you've been texting lately and how much texts you spent on them. Same for calls, and tracking data is cool too.
Thanks NeuroXT, but i dont use a custom rom. So sorry for me.
There is not an app for normal phones?

How do I get rid of ALL facebook crap? I don't really use it that much, and i could care less what people do. If i wanted to know, I would call them. (eg, my contacts pulling facebook pics, everytime someone posts it tells me to link stuff, i dont really know or care to know what everything means, i just want to get rid of it all together)

First of all root and nand unlock. Then flash a custom rom (I recommend Fresh very highly, though I'm just trying out Baked Snack which is also pretty excellent so far)...Fresh removes a bunch of crap-ware that comes stock, anything you want you install back. If there are things you don't want, since you are root, you can easily remove them. (I also recommend spending $2.75 on "root explorer", best money I've ever spent on the market).
Otherwise you can only remove the widgets by click-n-holding them and dumping them in the garbage icon at the bottom. It works, but, they will still load up in the background randomly (as will every other god damned thing on your phone for what seems like no reason).
Launcher Pro is also highly recommended...it's just a great configurable (and extremely smooth...try the 3D app tray for extra enjoyment) launcher replacement with a very stock launcher feel, but better.
ok, so i have finally decided i wanted to try a rom,ive been afraid of doing so and have only tried kernels because some question were never answered, so im looking for some assistance please
1) i would like to know, for those roms who remove apps, if i do a backup before i install the rom, and i later want to restore to the previous state, will all the apps come back? thats what confuses me the most... i dont want to have to go through ADB or something to get anything back...
2) and also i wanted to know if someone could help me pick a good rom to fit what im looking for:
speed
performance
GOOD BATTERY LIFE
possibly a vanilla lock screen (if i cant, oh well)
i dont want to have to go through confusing processes
3d gallery IF possible
Everything working (wifi, bt, 4g, 3g, camera etc.)
if i can keep the apps that would be nice, but if they are gone, i wanna know how to get sprint zone and qik and sprint tv back
stable
any help would be appreciated!!!
Love this site, have tried almost every rom out there. Here is what I would like. Basic froyo, dont need sense but also dont mind it. wifi tether, mms with pics both ways, good internet, pdf, office, camera with video capabilities, sync with ms outlook, google maps and nav. Basically a smartphone rom. I dont do music on my phone as I get that in the car and home, I dont do much video as I have a wdtv player and membership to a good site. I need smartphone stuff, not media stuff. I dont know if it is possible to strip a rom down and then let people install what they want, im not that smart, lol. I got this phone to replace my last 2 htc windows phones in which I also got alot of roms here. I dont know if it can be done, i here so many people complaining about their youtube or pandora not working, well I am a business man and could care less about that stuff. I want basic SMART ROM. Can it be done?
I'm a bit confused about what you want. It sounds as if you just want a stock ROM. Which means you should either get the Leaked OTA, or Virtuous.
You did mention stripped down though, so I would point you towards Feather or Stripped Froyo.
Are you SURE you've tried every ROM?
I do want stripped down. apps can be installed later if you need them. Just lookign for the basic of the basic. Do need a camera, like pic mms to work, could not get anywhere with the 2 you mentioned. dont need sense, although it is nice since I come from htc windows phones. I guess I dont need all the crap. facebook, youtube, pandora, etc........ most can be accessed from the internet anyways. I want fast internet, good smartphone stuff. If I had the time and the wife wouldnt shoot me for just playin with the phone, I would love to try it, but, alas, I have to work to much. I am in insurance and use my phoen for internet, tethering, email, camera, pdf, and basic stuff. This phone is great, I think if it had a basic rom, with the options to put other apps on, it could smoke even faster. dont know if that helps ya or not. but thanks for the reply man, preshe8it
fyi, i have found redemption roms to be the fastest with the best battery life for the way I use the phone, alot of internet, email, tethering. not alot of music or videos. It is the closest to a smartphone rom that I think there is. If he removed alot of the extra apps, that thing would smoke.
Yeah your wanting to try the feather rom. Everything has been taking out. And if you want to add anything, its right there for the mods. Its up to you what you want to add back. It has the bare essentials for the rom to run. You want barebones I point you in this direction. Hopes it helps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809541
Anyone? It seems no one will ever comment on the posts I make at their forums? I am testing cyanogen 7.1 out for a bit.
Some background info. Doubled wiped everything except sdcard. downloaded a fresh cyanogen 7.1 and flashed it. I have the GPS fix, and the gapps thing flashed with tiamat 4.0.8
So can someone tell me how to either fix this or why it does this?
This is a huge dealbreaker.. It compresses whatever photo i try to attach and it losses quality of the picture... I like the stock android and having to use handcent to send my mms seems like a *WTF* should i do this moment...
Apps like Handcent and Go SMS are better than the stock messaging app anyway. Why would you be willing to throw away the entire ROM over the messaging app when you can use more powerful messaging apps that don't compress the image AND have more customization options?
I've used stock CM, Handcent and Go SMS. By far my favorite one is Go SMS. Way better than the one that comes with CM.
I have used them both. I dislike them. Its just the feel. And the popups I just dislike the whole thing even after i messed with the settings to get rid of what i dont like. The options arent there and i do dislike them.. Also it wont send multiple split messages it freezes my ability top send messages and i need to reboot my phone....
And the Messaging app isn't the only issue.
Btw not my first or second time using CM either..

Huh? I don't get any pop ups whatsoever on mine. Not quite sure what you mean. And what options are you looking for? Out of all the ROMs I've tried CMseems to have the most flexibility and most customization options. What exactly are you looking for in a ROM? Handcent and Go SMS also provide more flexibility and customization options than the stock messaging app. Let me know what you're looking for and maybe I can point you toward a ROM that fits.

Its not that I'm looking for felxibility i just want to get my mms to stop sending at low resolutions.
It may be the user agent but every one of them makes me receive a pic at 8XX by ^XX resolutions..
I just want the stock one to have correct mms. And preferably a mms with a user agent for my phone or a equivalent phone. I have been searching for days and no one seems to post a fix. All the fixes seem to be for tmo for what i can find :/
Well I understand that you want your stock messaging app to work properly. However, I don't know a means to directly resolve the problem. Test with Handcent/Chomp SMS/Go SMS, reflash your ROM/kernel, update your radio, wimax, nv, etc., and if worse comes to worse....completely unroot your phone back to bone stock. Seems ridiculous that something that drastic is needed to fix your issue. But I did that as a last resort for my phone and it fixed my 2 month long SMS/MMS issue that I had been having.
Here OP try this. Is splits and the limit is big

Work out for you?
Hey, so I just got a GS3 after coming from an Evo 4G LTE, and so far I'm loving it. Plus, this is my first Samsung phone, my previous 3 have all been HTC. (The many versions of the EVO) Anyway I do have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.
1. I noticed that there are different settings for the vibration. Now, when I receive a txt it seems to do the basic ring vibration. I saw that there's an option to create your own vibration, which is pretty cool, but it didn't set for my txt messaging, perhaps I'm doing it wrong?
2. This might be just me or perhaps I'm just used to the keyboard on sense, but I'm noticing I'm making a lot of mistakes while typing. Lol, it's probably just me.
3. I love how samsungs threw in a lot of neat (or gimmicky) features. However, if I'm concerned about battery are there any I should turn off (I know motion is one, but I kinda like it)
4. Out of curiosity, what rom is everyone using? I'm debating whether to stay stock rooted, although I might switch to AOKP. Lol unlike sense, touchwiz really doesn't have a lot of issue with it.
5. Now if I do switch to AOKP or AOSP how is the camera quality?
Thanks in advanced!

1. No idea I haven't been on touchwiz since i got my phone
2. I hate the Samsung keyboard I switch to a ICS keyboard that's available in the market
3. Not sure. The only motion I ever left on was the swipe your palm to screen shot and I didn't noticed a decrease in battery. As long as you clear stuff in the task manager you should be fine
4. I've been on Paranoid Android for awhile. Touchwiz isn't as bad as people make it seem just not my style. A lot of cool looking touchwiz roms
5. Camera quality should be exactly the same except you lose certain features that are only available on the touchwiz

1. I am pretty sure the vibrate pattern is just for incoming calls not notifications even if you create a custom.
2. Yea lots of different keyboards mess around with a few find the one that fits you. I am using the new swiftkey flow and will not be looking back.
3. When on a TW rom I only use the swipe screenshots and hold phone to ear to call no battery issues for me. I delete S voice completely and disable other motion controls I dont need.
4. Currently running FreeGS3 3.0 really enjoying it. I spend most of my time on CM or other AOSP roms but if you are happy with TW for my phone anyways FreeGS3 has been very solid with the right amount of features and completely stable. The Aroma installer is easy and feature filled almost idiot proofs ROM installation.
5. As he said above the image quality will be fine just loose a few shiny du hickys in the camera ui
Thanks for both of your replies. I'm going to try CM and some other touchwiz roms.
Okay I have another question to. What is the purpose of the 0 folder inside of Scdard0. I noticed that some app data like Titanium Backup is defaulting there.
yeah im new to this phone as well and was wondering the same. The storage, extsd, and 0 thing throws me off sometimes. I'll get used to it though.

True! Actually I just found out some interesting information. Apparently the "0" folder holds all the information that was in the /sdcard folder before the jellybean update. Another user found it on their galaxy nexus. Oddly enough, most of the folders in mine were empty. Titanium Backup was the only one taking up space because for some reason it backed up there, I also had around 200mb in the android data folder, but I really had a hard time finding out where, so anyway I just ended up deleting it. So far no ill effects.

Yeah, I read this in another thread when a user couldn't find anything on their sdcard
Its weird why they would do that though, maybe to separate phone stuff from things that the user puts on their sdcard? Idk
By the way, just had to say this but I love your sig, the "life would be so much easier....." part
I love to code myself and I just found that really awesome lol
Haha thanks, it made me chuckle too when I first read it.
