AOKP M6 is quite good, it's the most stable 4.x out for Gio.
-Fast, lightweight (120MB free on internal after install)
-Every major function working stable
-Camera working including autofocus and camcorder (with 3rd party camcorder app)
-ROM is crash free with minfree set at least 50MB
-Battery lasts 1 day on heavy usage, 2 day on normal usage
I'm using it almost for a month, after trying at least 20 different GB and 3 other ICS/JB roms since July which all had serious bugs except Enhanced236.
The only problem is GTalk FC, but there are a lot other working 3rd party clients.
I'm using Erickas' CM9 for a week and I didn't change it yet, so it's kinda good rom.
Just once, my status bar disappeared but it came back in a minute.
I deleted some system apps that I don't use, so I freed up some space.
Ram usage is quite high, but hey, it's CM9 on our Gio.

I am using the latest Jellaxy build available. Very great work, almost free of bugs on most phones. Depending on how many apps used at the same time, sometimes a bit laggy but ready for everyday use, I think. Using it since a few months
Aokp m6 is really good but i search ics rom with touch wiz 4
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
Touchwiz4 cannot run on gio, can use touchwis5 theme on my aokp
Really how?

I'm using aurora. No bugs but when you choose holo launcher as launcher it looks like ics. Good performance. Overclocking possible.

I've used Phiex's CM7.2 for very long and for some reason it started to get very buggy.
I would have to enable and disable airplane mode to be able to send an SMS, some simple things stopped working, performance became a bit sluggish etc etc.
So I decided to give CM9 a try. What a disaster, almost nothing works (for me) and since I use my phone in a very specific way there was no mention of those things not working.
Either way, here's a summary of the things I use my phone for:
Tethering 3g internet via WiFi to my iPad.
Tethering GPS via Bluetooth to my iPad.
Lot's of texting/browsing
Some calling.
Now, my question is obvious. What is the most stable, most reliable non-stock Gio rom out there?
Did anyone try the CM7, the one not from Phiex? Is that one any good?
Many many thanks in advance.
I would say cm7. But if you really want stability, choose a stock based rom.

Decided to give your ROM a try. Seems like a good one.
The only thing is that there is no link in your post to the ICS theme.. Which ICS theme do you recommend for your ROM?
Just see the link got corrupted, here it is:
http://www.mediafire.com/?py6sjjy1dwh7d16
I recommend to use holo launcher or apex launcher for the pure ics look.

You can use a2sd on any GB rom with custom kernel.
But you also need to flash the a2sd package. See the full tutorial

I had installed enhanced 2.3.6 but I hadn't worked a2sd. (while package was installed)
is not 2.3.6 Enhanced GB rom? why didn't work?
hello i am running dixperia 2 gingerbread and thinking of updating i no longer use my play for gaming just as a phone should i update to ics jellybean or dont even update
There are no ICS or JB updates for the play.
BUT,
If ure talking about flashing roms, go for it.
I like JB better than ICS.
I think, the Unofficial ics release is very nice. Looks very greatly

Any major bugs in JB because ICS is laggy
I use UnOfficial ICS Test Release Xperia Play and most games work great!
Go for it. i switch between ics and JB. all the time and i find it really good. and it even runs better then stock.
nxt ver 1.3 best ever
Just do it, its very easy to do and you can go back anytime if you would like too. i would recommend Cyanogenmod 9 (stable) if you want ics and Cyanogenmod 10 (not stable) if you want jb.
I think the Unofficial ICS Update 1 is a great rom for everyday use, even for gaming. Very smooth and stable. You should try it.
Looking at GB roms, NXT 1.3 offers a great user experience with an excellent performance.
Unofficial ICS is laggy like hell. Go for Paranoid Android.

Laggy? My Play is running Update 1 with Lupus v8 kernel and I wouldn't consider it laggy.
As always, everyone has his own tweaks, apps and configuration so the user experience may vary, but this is a very fine tuned ICS rom.

Well, the title says it all. I just need your help, so what ROM are you using? I'm using Enhanced 246 atm. I'm thinking of changing it.
AOKP ics as daily rom and MIUI V4 as test rom
I'm using right now cm7.2 by marcin1147 as my daily rom and i've been using it for weeks.
Enhanced236
CM10 by erickas btw laggs like hell through the battery drain is low

It depends what day it is. Seriously, I swap ROMs so often even I don't know for sure.
Enhanced 2.3.6 has been the best for stability etc but CM7 offers the next best stability with greater features - e.g. music controls on the lockscreen.

I have it, too. :good:
As in the topic. Maybe MIUI 2.10.12? Maybe some other? Which do you recommend?
I've tried almost every non-sense rom, and my two favorite is RobotoMOD or MIUI v4 2.8.10, because they are the fastest/smoothest.
CM9, CM10, Paranoid Android 2.54, Speed Droid would be good too, they were working fine, but they were laggy compared to Robotomod or MIUI.
Robotomod could be better too, for example if Int2Ext4+ or anything else (beside Link2SD) would work.
@up
I used MIUI, and now I'm using CM9 and I don't see that MIUI stood out as fast.
I've used MIUI for a month straight and no lags except the known bugs. I am currently using cm9 because of hq videos.
Go for MIUI coz of the interface and the speed.

Miui for me
tbh i used all three and i LOVE THEM ALL, i would stay on miui but its out of date and the themes dont apply right sometimes. i just stick with cm9 for speed and stability and a uniform look. as far as lag try using some of the memory tweaks and v6 then change your launcher
I use stock.
coz I think not enough ram for ics or jb.

CM9 (EOL) and Hurtsky v4.2 kernel. After heavy app free mem nearly 170mb Apps mooore smoother than stock GB.

I am currently using AOIP 1.7 (yeah, I know I said 1.7, it's in testing). Why? Because it's awesome!!! Well, at least for me.

You've got literally a TON of JB ROMs in the Development section (up to Android 4.3, by the way) to confirm that yes, it can. And surprisingly enough they all run really well.

and in the end it is all up to you and your usage the GB is nice as you have been working with it for along time but you have forgot that the stock GB consumes alote of ram and it sucks when multitasking
so i prefer any custum rom you choose for your daily use thats all
