Title says it all.
How do I stop the "system update" notifications of 4.2?
I actually want to stay on 4.1.2. It is very smooth and from what I've been reading, there's a big chance 4.2 COULD be laggy on my device.
So I'm not taking any chances.
It has been more than a week that I've been getting these notifications of system update... quite annoying after a while.
(Btw I haven't rooted my device (hence no roms))
Anyone? I'm scared of pressing the install button when its popping up...

I'm in the same boat I think we have to edit a line in the build . Prop, so in order to do that you would have to be rooted, I just don't know what we have to edit.... Anyone?

I don't know if its a coincidence or if my phone is on its way out but around the time I got my jelly bean update my screen has stopped reacting to touches as good.
Sometimes I can swipe left or right and it won't recognize it and also sometimes scrolling up and down through pages say like the browser don't swipe first time, and when they do the swipe is only a small one as if it didn't register my entire swipe.
Is anyone else facing this?

Seems to be common after the 4.04 / 4.1 updates.

Hey guys! I use the T-Mobile My Account app to pay my bill from my phone, its pretty convenient. However, it comes bundled with a little sub app, My Device, and My Device is annoying as hell. It will tell me when my battery is low, every time I restart my phone, it asks if my issues have been resolved, etc.
I can't figure out which file to freeze in Titanium Backup. Anyone know how to shut My Device down?
You can disable the notifications in the programs options.

Left touch button?
I don't get it? I just see "About" and then either "My Device" or "My Account" depending on which screen I'm on

I've just upgraded from the original Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 to a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100
On my old Tab if there was a notification that was too long to fit on the screen I could long press on the notification and it would begin to scroll right to left allowing me to read the whole message. On my shiny new super phone that long press no longer works (instead it brings up a button for App Info which is no help at all!)
Is there a way to read the whole of a notification without having to go to launch the app associated with it?
Thanks!
In 4.1 JB you have to put two fingers on it and slide down to expand the notification. Although it doesn't work for all notifications.

Thanks for the reply.
That seems to work for Gmail but not for Pulse and if there is more than one email then the expanded version is basically no better than the unexpanded version. You still need to go from the notification screen to the Gmail inbox to see any of the message.
Seems a bit of a step backwards from the older version on Android.
Hi all,
my xperia s is running on rooted .2.45 with lock BL, but I just received the update notice for .2.55 yesterday. As far as I know, the root kit on this forum won't work for this new version, so I would like to know if there's anyway I can hide this notification ? It has been constantly sitting on my status bar and simply won't let me dismiss it.

I don't think freezing the update centre is the best way to do since I am still waiting for the OTA update to arrive so I'll have a rooted .2.55. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to dismiss the update notification on my status bar because it's really annoying.

Freeze UpdateCenter.apk in system

So if I go setting -> apps -> update centre -> clear data. My status bar would actually be clean for about 12 hours before another update notification kicks in.
Is there any other way I can dismiss the notification without freezing the app ? Because I know for sure that if you update your system via OTA method, you can preserve your root access, and that is what I am waiting for.

dude; just freeze it..!
when u think OTA should be there.. unfreeze to check if it is there update, if not then freeze..
its just like checking an email manually.. without push notification
is possible to hide update notification on non rooted xperia s?
I sometimes use the emoji keyboard that I downloaded off of the Play Store, but right now I 'froze' the app via Titanium Backup Pro because almost 3 times a day, I will get strange advertisements in my notification bar/drawer. And note that I only see this in this CyanogenMod ROM I'm running right now, when I'm running stock TouchWiz, these strange ads never appear. Is there any way to prevent these annoying ads?
Forgot to mention that I do have AdAway installed and working, but it doesn't work for the emoji keyboard.
I'm running CyanogenMod Version: 10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-d2tmo-M2

You can try using an air push blocker, or a different keyboard like go keyboard or kii which both have emoji inputs

This one, for example.
Also if running jb or higher hi can long press on the notification and select app info. That will take you to the a app info screen and select disable notifications.
