mine usually takes 3 hours.
the thing is if i touch it and turn the screen on and use it for awhile, i notice that my battery % isnt going up. it just stays to the % where i start using it, even for 30 mins.

I read your thread earlier and let my phone shut down by itself then charge it while it is turned on and most of the time DayDream is also on. It is about 1 hour and 50 minutes to be fully charged. I do not remember it ever exceeded 2 hours unless I am playing a heavy game while charging.
I am running my own AOSP ROM and trinity kernel alpha 7.
A similar thing happened with me when I had my S II. The percentage holds and does not increase, but if I reboot the phone then it shows that it was really charging. For example if it stopped on 45% for some time, then after reboot it may show something like 75% immediately. I think it was a ROM or kernel problem, so try another combination and see if your problem is fixed.
Hope this helps

If you do a full wipe (system, factory reset, cache, and dalvik) and install a fresh ROM, does the slow charging and inaccurate percentage exist as well?

Is it a problem with the charger? If it's a third-party charger, maybe it doesn't deliver enough juice. If it's the mfg's charger that came with the phone then maybe it's dying on you.
Doesn't anybody use math? The stock battery (1750mah) will charge in just under 2 hours on a 1A wall charger assuming you leave it alone to charge.

This happens frequently. Not all the time, but maybe one out of every 2-3 reboots. Today I rebooted with 39% battery, and ended up with 14% after the reboot.
Does it really take close to a quarter of a charge to reboot?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Somewhere down the line, the battery is being reported incorrectly, it's either that before the reboot the phone thinks it's higher than it is, or after the reboot the phone thinks it's lower than what it is.
Yeah, I don't think that's normal. I lose about 1% each reboot, 2% if I wiped cache and it's rebuilding during the reboot.
It happens sometimes. As sshede said already the battery is being reported incorrectly and I assume its after the reboot. This happened on my Nexus once and when the battery got down to 4% I locked the screen and left it alone for a while. When I came back to it an hour later it said 9% and stayed there for a long time, way longer than it would take to drain one percent, until it started to go down again. If you have ClockWorkRecovery you can wipe the battery stats which (I believe) should correct the issue. You might want to fully charge it first before you do that but I don't think it should make any difference. Hope this helps

No need to wipe, someone directly involved with the development of Android confirmed it doesn't actually do anything more than wipe the battery usage stats - Google around for it. OP, just let your phone run until it dies and automatically shuts down. Then charge it back up to 100% and any possible issues should be corrected.

Pretty sure what it does is wipe the stats when you charge to 100 so wiping manually doesn't need to happen.

Oh yeah that isn't suppose to fix the problem you're having just wrong stats is useless. You're problem has happened to me on every Android phone I've ever owned exactly how you describe it I have had it stop 40% on a reboot but it just stays there for what seems like forever before it decreases again or if you let it sit there sometimes the percentage will increase

That is correct.
OP, you might want to pick up a new battery.
I have had this issue on both the gnex and the sgs2.
You can try pulling the battery for a few minutes and then rebooting. This has fixed the issue for me in the past on occasion.

Do a battery stats wipe after you charge to one hundred percent. Then just preform a battery regulation like you should do monthly.

I started running into some battery issues earlier today. I was on AOKP without any issues and one day the battery just started draining very fast. I went from about 50% to 15% in a matter of an hour. That night I slept with my phone charging and it did to get charged passd 54%. And it's charging very slow too. I thought it might be the ROM so I flashed Slim Bean. But it is not heling at all.
Anyone have anything similar going on?
What can I do?
Try calibrating the battery and go like 2-3 charge to discharge and see what its like afterwards

Yea it takes a few rundowns to get into the sweet spot, I thought I was getting horrible battery life till someone suggested that to me now I get about 32-33 hrs on a charge. Which I think is about prefect, I don't game on it I just use everything else all the time. I have ps3, xbox360 & psp for gaming
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
Well it's been charging for about 6 hours now and it won't get past 54%
I let it charge all night and when I woke up it was finally at 100%. I left for class and unplugged my phone at 7:40. 20 minutes later it was down to 47%. Then another 2 hours later, it was at 11%. Obviously it is draining far too fast. Will AT&T replace my battery? Or does it look like I'm gonna have to buy a new one?
What I normally do is charge it to 100% then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. Reboot and don't unplug the phone until it again says that the battery is full. Then run with it and see if it helps.
Go ask them I don't see why they wouldn't replace the battery, it does sound like its shot that kind of drain isn't normal at all
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I had the same issues with not getting to 100%. Seems like leaving it on the charger for another couple hours (overnight) got it there.
So I went to the AT&T service shop yesterday and she took my battery and put it in a different Galaxy S III and it showed the battery was charged 97%. In my phone, it showed 23%. She told me that it had somthing to do with my phone being rooted. She said the software on my phone was being "tricked" into believing that the battery is a lot less full than it actually is. She told me to unroot my phone and flash it back to stock. So I did that yesterday and it is still no better. I don't know what to try.
Wiping battery stats doesn't help battery life... Something i learned a long time ago with my X10

I would unroot and take everything back to stock, then go back to the AT&T store you went to before and show another service rep that the phone is messed up and see if they give you another one.

mrb1946,
Even though your S3 is reporting percentage values as you stated....the PHYSICAL battery did not drain from a real 100% to a real 47% in 20 minutes. It can't actually physically drain that fast. It would be on FIRE! So, either the calibration of the rom/software or the battery itself somehow messed up.
Also, during that time...was the battery/S3 HOT? That physical evidence would account for some of the drain if it's coming from a rogue app or misbehaving rom component. Did you post a battery drain graph? And were you monitoring the cpu activity during these high drain periods? I mean...periodic checks to see if your CPU is stuck on HIGH freq and if you have any wakelocks shown under the battery graph.
If this problem is still occurring, here's a thread explaining a possible drain from android system. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827087&highlight=android+system
So here's my problem:
About few weeks ago, my battery started to fooling with me. When I use it for Facebook, Twitter and normal web surfing, the battery goes down, fast, from 100% to 10% took only about one hour plus. Then I left it aside. Check it again after 30 minutes, the battery went up to 27%. So I think battery was miscalibrated so I tried to calibrate the battery using all the guides I can find on the net for weeks but none worked.
So what should I do? Should I change a new battery?
Did u try calibrate it properly, eg.. wait till its charged fully then wipe them. using an app from playstore is the best way. If u wipe stats when its not charged100% then it will start jumping percentages.

Well try to underclock it and make the screen brightness lowest. Try to look at the battery stats too as you may have an app which is using a lot of resources of your phone. If you can live without your phone then switch it off completely, try to find the charger with highest mAh output (the higher the mAh output is the quicker it is charging), connect your turned off phone to the charger, make sure it's charging, leave it for 2 days charging like this and then disconnect it, boot it straight to the recovery, wipe the battery stats from recovery. If this is not going to help then I seriously have no idea what else you can do.

Phone's not overclocked, brightness is always low, I used it for texting my gf for whole day, played word search for a while and my phone left 50%, no data no WiFi nothing, When I turned on WiFi and keep using it, battery drops fast. Reached 4% I left it, went back to 16%, continue using, left 4 % again, left it again went back to 10%, then I used it till 4% again, now left 6%. Using stock charger but with different cable since my stock cable is broken. Is that related? If yes I'm going to get a new charger.

I've had my Galaxy W for just over a year. Whilst I was running the stock ROM I would more or less get a full day out of the battery. I upgraded rooted my device and installed the Cyanogen CM9 rc2 ROM. I don't recall any battery problems at first, but just over a week ago it started draining within five or six hours. This happened every day for a week.
Since then I have uninstaleld all apps (apart from Google Authenticator which I couldn't manage without), turned off wifi, bluetooth and everything else I could think of. Now I seem to be getting about 36 hours out of the battery... Although I think it goes from 35% down to 10% very, very quickly.
Leaving all data connections off and having no apps is okay in the short term, but is there a long term software solution?

I don't know enough about this, but I expected that the phone would spend a higher percentage of it's time in 'deep sleep' than that.

Interesting.. how about you check on the battery is it bloating or not?
For battery problem is either the phone calibrated wrong readings on the battery or the battery it self is the problem.
If you use your phone not too often but the deep sleep only reach 34% of the time then some apps is preventing the deep sleep, try to check what apps is that causes that with some battery stats app, try search it in xda or market

I've gone for Battery Stats Plus. I'll reenable wifi, bluetooth and 3G for a few days and see what happens. If that takes a toll on the battery I will post back with details from Battery Stats Plus.
I will also take the battery out later to inspect it.
Update:
My battery had 15-20% remaining and I turned it off, and tried to turn it back on. It now thinks that it does not have enough power to boot the phone. I don't know if that new information is helpful or not.

Took the battery out this morning for a proper look. There's definitely some bloating. Time to get looking for a replacement battery?
Could there be two issues here? As from the screenshots I posted the phone doesn't seem to have spent a lot of time in deep sleep.
I was just watching a YouTube video, with about 70% battery. The phone turned off, and when I've turned it back on it's gone down to 2%.
Could this be down to an improperly calibrated battery, or is it purely down to the physical damage/bloating to the battery?

Your battery is bloated? Then you *must* replace it. Period.
A damaged battery is the root cause of myriads of problems. Until that battery is replaced, you _will_ experience all kinds of annoyances, no matter what ROM/Kernel you're using, including inexplicable battery drain.

Exactly have the same problem, I'd like to ask first, are you rooted? What rom are you using? Because that could be the issue, I'm rooted and I'm using nolekat rom. It takes me 10 hrs or more to fully charge and it drains half the time fast. The percentage on the battery jumps higher then goes lower and it decreases while I'm charging and using it and I'm not doing anything heavy. I already tried using the battery calibration app which most people recommend to troubleshoot first, it didn't work for me. I suggest that you try calibrating first and if it doesn't work, reflash your current rom if you're rooted, if you aren't, it could be your charger and I also know my charger isn't faulty. Last thing I'll suggest is try manually removing your battery for 5mins then put it back in. I haven't tried that yet, I need the tools still. Hope this helps and let me know what you've done.

I had a similar problem... Used the Battery Doctor app to figure out that some components were running all the time..
Just reflashed it with same rom and problem is now gone.

Exactly have the same problem, I'd like to ask first, are you rooted? What rom are you using? Because that could be the issue, I'm rooted and I'm using nolekat rom. thanks for the advice. I recently removed the rom i was running. it helped Thank you very much. I also removed my battery by opening my device with the back end of a knife it you do it gently it really doesnt scratch your device plus if you have a case/skin you can't see the part where you wedge the knife. Thank you !
Did you all get a Refurbished tab? I ask because I was just about to get one.... But not if they all have battery trouble.

mines brand new out of the box. The charging problem came with the custom rom somehow
calibrate it
Download q battery calibrator from google play let it charge to 100 then calibrate it
